Race 5 - NEXT MEETING 19TH MAY HANDICAP TROT
Trainer R Jenkins has advised Stewards that SUNNIVUE SADONA has recovered well from its disappointing performance at Forbury Park last week. Mr Jenkins further advised that he will be taking the gelding to several workouts before resuming on a race night.

Race 2 - PORT FM FILLIES & MARES MOBILE PACE
Trainer B Negus has advised Stewards that following its performance at Timaru last weekend FLYIN SUE has recovered well with no blood tests taken. Mr Negus was of the opinion that the mare was forced to work hard during the event which contributed to its disappointing performance. He further advised that he has eased up on the mare's workload this week and she will be driven with a sit should circumstances permit, with this relayed through the appropriate channels.

Race 1 JUST ESSENCE CATERING HANDICAP TROT Video  Video 
Starters Assistant Mr M Smaill was struck and knocked over prior to the start by WOOMAMASAMPSON. Mr Smaill was examined by St John staff and cleared of any injury.
FOURSHARESMOREBEERS was slow away from the start.
DANIELLE AMORE broke at the start losing ground.
THANKSFORNOTHING broke shortly after the start losing several lengths.
EYRISH MIST and SCARLETT LANE broke rounding the first bend with both runners taking a considerable distance to settle.
DANIELLE AMORE hung inwards near the 1200 metres.
ITS ELVIS trotted roughly over the concluding stages.
FLURRY broke inside the final 50 metres failing to regain its gait and as a result was lapped on by LOXI CLAIRBORNE. A subsequent Protest by Stewards against the 3rd placing of FLURRY under Rule 870(5) was not contested by the connections with FLURRY being relegated to 4th place.
 
Race 2 DUNEDIN HOLIDAY PARK MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
MARSUE underwent a pre-race Veterinary check and was passed fit to start.
FLASHING LOVER broke during the score up and failed to settle taking no competitive part in the event with the connections advising they would not be persevering with the gelding. The gelding was placed on the unruly for future mobile start events.
ATOM EXPRESS was late coming out of the pre-race formation being several lengths back at the start. Driver R Close was spoken to advisedly for the manner in which he drove in the early stages of the score up.
THE SLEEPER paced roughly when being restrained near the 1400 metres.
Passing the 1100 metres JANET'S PASSION tired rapidly inconveniencing MARSUE and THE SLEEPER. The mare then stumbled and fell dislodging Driver B Williamson. Driver B Williamson was unharmed in the incident.
Acting under Rule 211(A) Part 3 Stewards abandoned the race due to the safety risk to horses and drivers when JANET'S PASSION was unable to be removed from the track near the winning post.
Stewards requested a Veterinary examination of JANET'S PASSION which revealed the mare to have bled and is subsequently stood down for 30 days and must complete a trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to resuming.
 
Race 3 THE PARK FUNCTION & EVENTS CENTRE PACE Video  Video 
GREAT ABBEY and ILDIVO both broke shortly after the start.
NYREE FRANCO and ILDIVO raced wide in the early stages.
VAN EVA hung outwards approaching the first bend and had to be restrained.
NYREE FRANCO paced roughly near the 1400 metres.
VAN EVA was held up rounding the final bend and through the early stages of the run home.
Driver R Close advised he was unable to activate the removable deafeners on BILLY KLONDIKE when the cord broke. The gear was inspected and found to be in satisfactory condition.
 
Race 4 WASHINGTON VC FILLIES & MARES MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
FLYIN SUE underwent a pre-race Veterinary check and was passed fit to start.
PURE GRIT lost contact with the field after 500 metres, with a warning placed on the mare's racing performance. Trainer S Ashton advised that the mare had showed the early signs of a virus when returning to the stables and will be treated accordingly.
TWO BIRDS hung inwards passing the 900 metres.
LOTTIE JACCKA broke approaching the 800 metres checking the trailing TRENDY'S BAD GIRL, FLYIN SUE, NEWMANS JET, TRENDY BROMAC, STOP MEANS STOP and TWO BIRDS. A post-race Veterinary examination of LOTTIE JACCKA revealed no abnormalities with a warning being placed on the filly's racing manners.
TRENDY BROMAC veered outwards sharply over the concluding stages and had to be straightened.
 
Race 5 SPEIGHTS HANDICAP TROT Video  Video 
MISSANDEI and GOLDEN GATE both broke at the start with MISSANDEI losing considerable ground.
Driver D Dunn (HAZEL ALICE) accidentally dropped his whip near the 1800 metres.
GOLDEN GATE broke rounding the final bend losing all chance.
 
Race 6 PRYDE'S EASIFEED MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
BUBBLY BABE paced roughly for a short distance as the start was effected.
JETENARA over- raced in the middle stages.
LILLY JONES had to be steadied near the 200 metres when awkwardly placed near the sulky wheel of MACARDO.
BUBBLY BABE hung inwards when placed under pressure rounding the final bend.
 
Race 7 palaMOUNTAINS SCIENTIFIC NUTRITION TROT Video  Video 
HUSTLE HILL broke at the start losing ground.
SCOTTIE TROUBLE broke shortly after the start losing its chance.
ARMORI paced racing into the first bend and had to be restrained being returned to its correct gait.
SCOTTIE TROUBLE broke again nearing the 800 metres.
CUDDLY JESS, SUNDONS FLYER and MA CILLE all broke when attempting to improve wide rounding the final bend.
PEGAROSE hung inwards and had to be straightened near the 70 metres.
 
Race 8 HYDROFLOW DISTRIBUTORS MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
HARRY MAC was a late scratching at 12.35 pm with a Veterinary certificate to be provided.
FRANCO NIXON hung inwards in the latter part of the score up and was out of position at the start slightly inconveniencing EASTBURN MARA. A warning was placed on the mobile barrier record of FRANCO NIXON.
BETTOR'S AVENUE baulked and eased passing the 1600 metres resulting in checks to the trailing LAUGHING CAVALIER, MISSY MACH and SPIRIT OF CHRONOS momentarily.
HESTIA FRANCO broke near the 900 metres losing all chance.
FRANCO NIXON was held up in the run home with Driver R Swain advising that he was not afforded the opportunity to activate the removable deafeners.
SPIRIT OF CHRONOS hung inwards passing the 100 metres when placed under full pressure.
SPIRIT OF CHRONOS broke with 70 metres to run and failed to settle. Stewards lodged a Protest under Rule 870(3) and the Breaking Horse Regulations which was not contested by the connections with SPIRIT OF CHRONOS being disqualified from 3rd place.
 
Race 9 CONCORD INN MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
MACHIE MACH over- raced in the early stages when being restrained.
LIGHTNING MACH lay inwards just short of the winning post. As a result DEVIL MAY CARE had to be steadied.
 
Race 10 NEXT MEETING 26TH MAY MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
A false start was declared after ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT broke briefly in the score up checking ULTIMATE FELLA. Driver B Orange elected to remain in his original position for the restart. A warning was placed on the barrier record of ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT.
POW WOW BROMAC and ULTIMATE FELLA had to be eased near the 1600 metres when there was an easing of the pace in the one out line.
HUDSON SULLY over- raced when being restrained with 1600 metres to run.
SHINEY PRINCESS commenced to tire inside the final 500 metres. A warning was placed on the mare's racing performance.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of POW WOW BROMAC Driver D Dunn advised that at this stage of its career the gelding appeared to be more suited to being driven with a sit as it was at its previous performance.
