Pre-race blood testing was carried out at the meeting. Starter P Lamb advised he was having some difficulties controlling the speed of the mobile gate entering the back straight leading up to the 1950 metre start point due to the prevailing high winds. |

ALPHA ROCK paced roughly through the back straight on the final occasion and then gave ground from inside the 600 metres. When questioned regarding the performance of ALPHA ROCK driver D Dunn could offer no tangible reason for the gelding's performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a slow recovery rate. Trainer C Dalgety advised the gelding will now be spelled. | |

ALL LIT UP broke at the start and when in a break shifted inwards forcing ZACHARY BINX inwards onto HARRIET OF MOT resulting in the latter two runners locking sulky wheels with both horses being checked badly and losing all chance. VALMAGNE also broke when taking evasive action around these runners. | |
