Race 10 - MICO PLUMBING MOBILE PACE
Junior driver S Golding (assisted by Senior driver D Dunn) admitted using his whip in an excessive manner over the concluding stages while driving BURN OFF. After viewing the available films and hearing submissions on penalty at which Mr Golding expressed his preference under Rule 1304(1)(b)(i) to take a 7 day deferment, the JCA suspended his Junior Horseman's licence from the end of racing at the Forbury Park TC's meeting on 19 May 2016 up to and including the Oamaru HRC's meeting on 22 May 2016 (2 days).

Race 7 - PGG WRIGHTSON HANDICAP PACE
Trainer H Hunter has advised Stewards that DEVIL MAY CARE has been checked by his veterinarian this week with no abnormalities found. Mr Hunter put the disappointing run at Oamaru last weekend down to having no luck in the running which meant that the gelding was too far off the pace. He added that DEVIL MAY CARE is continuing with its original racing programme.

Race 7 - BURGESS MASONRY MOBILE PACE
Trainer A Hoffman has advised Stewards that after being late scratched at Invercargill on Sunday because of blood being present in its nose, TO RI ALBY was examined today and found not to be a bleeder with a cut inside a nostril being detected. Miss Hoffman added that it was her intention to have the gelding resume at Oamaru on 22 May.

Race 1 THE PARK FUNCTION & EVENT CENTRE TROT Video  Video 
CLOVER LADY broke at the start and again when negotiating the first bend losing its chance in the event.
BELMONT'S GREATEST also broke at the start losing its chance. Stewards spoke with trainer D McCormick in relation to this gelding's recent indiscretions from behind the barrier and as a result BELMONT'S GREATEST would now be drawn Unruly for its upcoming standing starts. In consequence to this course of action BELMONT'S GREATEST will now start from Unruly position 4 for its engagement at the Timaru Harness Racing Club's meeting on Sunday the 15th of May.
PEGASUS HANOVER broke racing into the first bend and again near the 1400 metres effectively losing its chance.
PYRAMID MUSTANG hung inwards and trotted unevenly at various stages throughout the event.
KING KONE trotted roughly and broke approaching the 600 metres causing an inconvenience to PEGAROSE.
ITS ELVIS trotted roughly entering the home straight and broke near the 150 metres. This gelding then continued in a break across the finish line finishing in 4th Position. In consequence to this Stewards lodged a Protest against 4th placing being awarded to ITS ELVIS alleging this gelding was in a breach of the Breaking Horse Regulations with the connections not contesting this allegation. Subsequently ITS ELVIS was disqualified from 4th placing by the JCA.
PURE EMOTION trotted roughly over the concluding stages and broke just prior to the finish line finishing in 5th placing. Authorisation of the promotion of this mare to 4th placing was withheld until the Stewards were satisfied PURE EMOTION had not breached the Breaking Horse Regulations when breaking over the final stages.
Horseman L McCormick (PRINCE GEORGE) was cautioned to change his whip action.
 
Race 2 RICOH PACE Video  Video 
MARTIN MCGUINNESS and TUBBY JIM broke briefly at the start.
JETENARA broke as the start was effected and then over raced in the parked position and continued to do so while leading from the 1400 metres. Driver J Cox reported this gelding was striking the sulky wheels with its hind legs.
BEALE STREET BOY which had led through the early stages before taking a trail nearing the 1400 metres commenced to tire rounding the final turn to finish a distance from the winner. Driver M Williamson could offer no excuse for this performance and a subsequent post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Co-trainer G Knight advised he would no longer be persevering with the gelding from his stable.
 
Race 3 JUST ESSENCE CATERING MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
THE SLEEPER had a warning placed on its racing manners when it hung inwards and broke racing into the first bend causing an inconvenience to FEAR XCHANGE, ATOM EXPRESS and GOT A BEAUTY. THE SLEEPER then commenced to tire from the 500 metres finishing a distance from the winner.
FRANCO CORTESE raced three wide without cover from the 1000 metres with this taking its toll on the gelding rounding the final bend. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery.
FEAR XCHANGE hung inwards and raced greenly rounding the final turn striking track markers.
 
Race 4 WASHINGTON VC FILLIES & MARES MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
NEWMANS JET hung inwards and was obliged to race three wide through the early stages.
SHEEZ GOOD raced keenly through the middle stages and weakened from the 800 metres before breaking shortly after inconveniencing AFRO DIZZY YAK. SHEEZ GOOD was subsequently retired from the event with driver J Cox reporting it was his opinion the filly had choked down. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
ROXY ROX raced three wide from the 1000 metres and commenced to tire rounding the final turn.
PURE GRIT raced keenly through the middle stages and was inclined to lay inwards rounding the final turn.
 
Race 5 NEXT MEETING 19TH MAY HANDICAP TROT Video  Video 
The 40 metre barrier strand failed to release obliging Starter Mr W Ferguson to declare a false start.
PYRAMID MONARCH was slow to begin.
CHEEKY PAT broke as the start was effected.
MOON COUNTESS tangled away.
RUBY'S JEWEL was obliged to race wide through the early and middle stages.
BELMONT INVASION broke with 1500 metres to run losing its chance.
SUNNIVUE SADONA commenced to tire from the 900 metres with this gelding finishing a distance from the winner. When questioned regarding this trainer/driver R Jenkins advised that the gelding had trotted indifferently throughout particularly rounding the bends. Stewards will follow this up with Mr Jenkins in the coming days.
FEATHER BOYZ and STRATHMORES CHARM locked wheels momentarily rounding final turn with driver S Golding (FEATHER BOYZ) dropping his foot momentarily to stay balanced.
SCARLETT LANE commenced to tire from the 500 metres.
PYRAMID MAGIC trotted roughly and broke nearing the 100 metres.
Trainer R Jenkins has advised Stewards that SUNNIVUE SADONA has recovered well from its disappointing performance at Forbury Park last week. Mr Jenkins further advised that he will be taking the gelding to several workouts before resuming on a race night.
 
Race 6 PRYDE'S EASIFEED PACE Video  Video 
The field was turned away to reassemble after coming into line in a disorganised fashion.
ELUSIVE FLIGHT broke as the start was effected losing considerable ground.
BILLY KLONDIKE also broke as the start was effected.
PEGASUS KOMMANDER broke as the start was effected settling towards the rear of the field.
BILLY KLONDIKE (K Cox) which was being eased wider to make a run near the 600 metres struck the outside sulky wheel of PEGASUS KOMMANDER (K Butt) resulting in the tyre of that runner deflating. Stewards spoke to both drivers in regards to this incident and after hearing explanations from these drivers Miss K Cox was issued with a caution for the manner in which she drove at this stage of the race.
FRANCO NIXON hung inwards rounding the final bend.
 
Race 7 GRANTS BRAES SCHOOL JUNIOR DRIVERS MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
GUPTA'S CULLEN raced wide through the early stages.
SHINEY PRINCESS over raced throughout with this eventually taking its toll on the gelding which tired from the 600 metres causing an inconvenience to DEGAS.
HUDSON SULLY, BUBBLY BABE and ROYAL CAROLINE were all held up for clear racing room throughout the run home.
OK I'M BAD was inclined to lay inwards severely onto BETTORDEAN through the early and middle stages of the run home with this placing BETTORDEAN awkwardly onto the outside wheel of SHARDS HALO which was struck with the tyre of that runner subsequently deflating.
 
Race 8 GENERAL TYRES TROT Video  Video 
YGRITTE was slow to begin.
SCOTTIE TROUBLE broke as the start was effected before settling then breaking again shortly afterwards causing an inconvenience to GRACE LIGHTNING.
FLURRY and MR MAJESTIC broke shortly after the start with both these runners losing their chance in the event.
EVANDER D GO weakened from the 500 metres.
ANOTHER DELIGHT was held up for clear racing room through the early stages of the run home.
 
Race 9 MAG & TURBO MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
FLEETING GRIN was claimed from this event by ballot.
There was a delay to the start of this event due to a wheel requiring changing on the sulky of LIONELS MEDDLE.
MACARDO hung when negotiating the first bend. This gelding then struggled to maintain its position from the 500 metres.
VERDUN (S Golding) paced roughly and was checked when racing to the outside of EASTBURN MARA (R McIlwrick) nearing the 500 metres with this causing an inconvenience to SUPERIOR DESIRE. Stewards spoke with drivers McIlwrick and Golding regarding this incident and issued Mr Golding with a caution for failing to concede his position when required to do so.
LIONELS MEDDLE was inclined to lay out over the concluding stages.
 
Race 10 FAIRFIELD TRANSPORT LTD MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
ONEDIN ONYX over raced when being restrained through the early stages.
FIDDLETHEFOOL paced roughly when negotiating the first bend when three wide.
MOONROCK commenced to tire from the 800 metres and was not persevered with from this stage of the race. Stewards ordered a post-race veterinary examination of MOONROCK which revealed the colt to have suffered from an atrial fibrillation. As a result, MOONROCK is stood down from all races pending a vet clearance including an ECG report.
LOVE THAT GUEST commenced to tire from the 600 metres after over racing, Trainer/driver R Swain advised it was his belief that given the gelding's tendency to over race and being its first start for a prolonged period that this had taken its toll.
