Race 1 GORE WORKOUTS COMMITTEE TROT Video  Video 
SKY TOWER was slow to begin.
ROSIE EXPRESS and PYRAMID MUSTANG broke at the start with PYRAMID MUSTANG losing its chance.
SKY TOWER was momentarily hampered by the breaking PYRAMID MUSTANG near the 2000 metres.
EYRE'S A RAG DOLL broke passing the 1300 metres.
SKY TOWER broke passing the 900 metres and broke again passing the 500 metres.
THE TOILER raced wide from the 800 metres and hung outwards placing driver P Williamson in some difficulty thereafter with Mr Williamson dropping his foot from the sulky footrest for some distance. Driver P Williamson was however advised that he was to make a better effort to keep his feet in the sulky footrests at all times. Trainer/driver P Williamson advised that he would be making changes to the gear of THE TOILER for upcoming starts.
PURE EMOTION broke near the 250 metres.
STRATHSPEY BOY broke at the 200 metres.
WAY TO GO hung inwards throughout the run home.

FLASHING ON over raced in the middle stages when trailing.
TUBBY JIM raced wide from the 1300 metres.
FLASHING ON paced roughly for a short distance passing the 1200 metres.
TUBBY JIM hung inwards rounding the final bend and lost ground.
FLASHING ON broke near the 250 metres losing its chance.
FRANCO TYSON had difficulty obtaining clear racing room through the early and middle stages of the home straight.
There were no claims received for any runner in this event.
 
Race 3 SOUTH GORE DAIRY / PGG WRIGHTSON LTD MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
BLENHEIM SUN broke near the 1800 metres when racing to the inside of CABALLO BLANCO losing considerable ground with the trailing MILLWOOD CHARITY, CATALINA BANNER and COURAGE TO LIVE all having to take evasive action. Stewards spoke with junior driver C Ferguson who confirmed BLENHEIM SUN had broken of its own accord. A warning was placed on the racing manners record of BLENHEIM SUN.
MILLWOOD CHARITY (M Prendergast) shifted ground inwards near the 1300 metres when not clear of DREAMINSOVER which had to be steadied. Driver M Prendergast was cautioned for the manner in which he shifted ground at this stage.
BLENHEIM SUN and CONCORDE DAWN had to be steadied near the 1100 metres when there was an easing of the pace.
CATALINA BANNER raced wide from the 800 metres.
COURAGE TO LIVE improved four wide near the 500 metres.
THREE DREAMS commenced to give ground passing the 600 metres placing the trailing MILLWOOD CHARITY, CONCORDE DAWN and BLENHEIM SUN at a disadvantage. Stewards requested a post-race veterinary examination of THREE DREAMS which revealed the gelding to have a poor respiratory recovery.
COURAGE TO LIVE hung inwards abruptly when placed under pressure near the 200 metres and broke.
 
Race 4 MOSSDALE MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
GUNSLINGER BROMAC broke briefly in the score up however recovered to take up its correct position at the dispatch.
WOBBEGONG raced wide through the early stages prior to being improved forward to obtain a leading position near the 1500 metres.
J NINE over raced near the 1800 metres and when being restrained came back on to the trailing WESTERN DELIGHT and PORSCHE CANARDLY both of which had to be steadied.
GUNSLINGER BROMAC over raced for a short distance near the 1000 metres.
MAGNETIC WATCH was held up for several strides near the 300 metres.
Driver K Larsen advised that STEIGER had struck a knee and became unbalanced for several strides rounding the final bend.
When questioned regarding the improved performance of I TRY trainer/driver H Hunter advised that after drawing unfavourably at its previous start the horse had raced without much luck however had derived benefit from that run.
 
Race 5 NORTHERN SOUTHLAND VETS TROT Video  Video 
WINNERS SHOUT broke at the start losing ground.
BELMONT INVASION broke near the 2250 metres losing considerable ground and effectively all chance.
ANOTHER DELIGHT struck a track marker near the 1250 metres.
Driver N Williamson reported he did not activate the removable deafeners on the winner SUN'S INVASION.
 
Race 6 PETERS GENETICS MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
NO MORE CHANGE broke near the 1800 metres with the trailing MACH OF THE MAN pacing roughly when having to take evasive action.
ISOLA BELLA made the bends awkwardly when hanging inwards.
MICKEY JAY raced wide from the 800 metres.
FRANK THE TANK made the final bend awkwardly.
NO MORE CHANGE was held up throughout the run home.
FIRST SON was held up over the final 100 metres and could not be driven to full advantage.
 
Race 7 SGT DAN STOCKFOODS LTD / MLT HANDICAP TROT Video  Video 
LOVE STRUCK ROMEO trotted roughly and broke racing into the first bend, taking a considerable distance to settle and effectively losing all chance.
Driver N Williamson was questioned regarding the manner he drove THE JINJA NINJA over the early stages when his foot was down for a considerable distance after the standing start. Mr Williamson advised that he was conscious of trying to keep the mare balanced and trotting around the first bend. Stewards advised Mr Williamson he must make a better effort to place his foot back in the sulky footrest sooner in future.
Driver N Williamson reported he did not activate the removable deafeners on the winner THE JINJA NINJA.
 
Race 8 GORE NEW WORLD MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
BETTOR'S BRIGADIER broke during the early stages of the score up and was several lengths out of position at the dispatch. A warning was placed against the mobile barrier record of BETTOR'S BRIGADIER.
I'M FULL OF EXCUSES paced roughly and broke for a short distance as the start was effected.
SPIRIT OF CHRONOS raced wide rounding the first bend until near the 1700 metres.
I'M FULL OF EXCUSES hung inwards when being improved near the 1500 metres brushing sulky stays with SPIRIT OF CHRONOS.
SPIRIT OF CHRONOS commenced to give ground from the 500 metres.
Driver B McLellan (MACHIE MACH) briefly dropped his foot from the sulky footrest when activating gear near the 300 metres.
ROBYN'S BAD BOY was held up through the early stages of the run home.
 
Race 9 PANSPACIFICFLIGHT AT MACCA LODGE MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
FIERY FERRET and ENVIOUS paced roughly through the early stages, with ENVIOUS losing ground.
BONNIE'S KHALEESI raced wide in the early stages prior to being improved to the lead near the 1500 metres.
JACCKA SPIRIT hung inwards when improving in the middle stages.
FIDDLETHEFOOL paced roughly passing the 1300 metres.
JACCKA SPIRIT hung inwards rounding the final bend and continued to hang inwards contacting the sulky of FIDDLETHEFOOL near the 200 metres resulting in JACCKA SPIRIT pacing roughly and racing greenly thereafter.
JETSDREAM had difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the run home.
Driver S Walkinshaw (JACCKA SPIRIT) admitted a breach of Rule 869(2)(a) in that Mr Walkinshaw used his whip in an unnecessary manner over the concluding stages and shortly after the finish line. After viewing the films and hearing submissions on penalty the JCA imposed a fine of $300 with the committee taking into account Mr Walkinshaw's previous good record.
A warning was also placed against the racing manners of JACCKA SPIRIT. A subsequent veterinary examination of JACCKA SPIRIT revealed a laceration to the near-side fore carpus.
 
Race 10 GORE TOWN & COUNTRY CLUB INC MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
BETTOR'S AVENUE commenced to give ground near the 400 metres. Stewards will follow up the recovery of BETTOR'S AVENUE with trainer W Adams in the coming days.
Driver C Barron advised the sulky tyre on RAKARAZOR had deflated after the finish line.
