Race 1 MCMILLANS PROTEIN PLUS SUPPORTING JONTY'S JOURNEY TROT Video  Video 
ITS ELVIS tangled briefly at the start.
MAJESTIC PEAK raced wide through the early stages.
PEGASUS HANOVER trotted roughly and broke near the 2000 metres losing ground.
PEGASUS HANOVER broke again near the 900 metres losing several lengths.
EYRE'S A RAG DOLL was held up for a short distance rounding the final bend.
PURE EMOTION broke when placed under pressure near the 150 metres.
ITS ELVIS broke passing the 100 metres and failed to settle thereafter.
 
Race 2 MCMILLANS SUPPORTING HARNESS RACING IN NZ MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
The near-side number on TRENDY'S BAD GIRL came adrift due to the holding clip breaking during the preliminaries. This was unable to be replaced prior to the start.
TIKETY BOO raced wide through the early stages with this runner being restrained to obtain cover near the 1300 metres.
GO GRUNTER hung inwards and broke when in the parked position near the 850 metres resulting in the trailing TRENDY'S BAD GIRL, BULLYS PRINCESS and JUST WISH being briefly inconvenienced.
LADY'S LASS raced wide for a distance passing the 600 metres.
LOTTIE JACCKA was inclined to lay outwards when placed under pressure in the run home.
 
Race 3 MITAVITE PROUD TO SPONSOR NATHAN WILLIAMSON MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
TROPOSPHERE raced greenly in the latter stages of the score up.
AFRO DIZZY YAK broke soon after the start, shifting inwards and hampering TROPOSPHERE which was forced to take evasive action. AFRO DIZZY YAK failed to settle through the early stages and was eventually pulled up from the event. A warning was placed against the mobile barrier record of AFRO DIZZY YAK with this gelding also placed on the unruly for future mobile barrier events at the request of trainer B Gooch.
HURRICANE BANNER broke when racing into the first bend losing ground. Trainer/driver N Williamson reported that HURRICANE BANNER had hung inwards and pulled a shoe which in his opinion had contributed to the gelding breaking.
ANOTHER HUNCH hung inwards in the early stages and near the 1700 metres paced roughly when being restrained. ANOTHER HUNCH continued to hang inwards thereafter and broke near the 1600 metres losing ground. Trainer B Keeler advised he would no longer be persevering with the gelding as a racing proposition from his stable.
WATTLEBANK PLAYGIRL hung inwards passing the 1000 metres striking a number of track markers.
 
Race 4 LIVAMOL AVAILABLE AT FARMLANDS HANDICAP TROT Video  Video 
Trainer C Thomas advised that GRACE O'MALLEY had sustained a minor injury en route to the course. GRACE O'MALLEY underwent a pre-race veterinary examination on completion of its preliminary and was cleared to start.
The gaiting strap was removed from ANOTHER CRUSHER prior to the start after the gelding had performed unfavourably during its preliminary.
ANOTHER CRUSHER broke at the start losing considerable ground.
MOA BONES was slow to begin.
BEST OF THE BUNCH broke for a distance rounding the first bend and was not persevered with thereafter.
MOA BONES hung inwards for a short distance rounding the bend near the 900 metres.
ALDERBECK improved wide from the 650 metres.
CHEEKY PAT commenced to weaken from near the 500 metres.
LOVE STRUCK ROMEO broke passing the 400 metres and again near the 200 metres losing its chance.
EXPLOSIVE STAR trotted roughly and broke near the 250 metres losing ground.
CIRCUS BOY hung inwards and broke near the 200 metres failing to settle for a considerable distance, with the near-side boring pole breaking while the gelding was in a break.
 
Race 5 MITAVITE EQUINE FEEDS AVAILABLE AT FARMLANDS MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
GET CARTER was declared a late scratching at 3.03pm on veterinary advice.
GUNSLINGER BROMAC paced roughly in the score up and was out of position at the dispatch.
FEARCE FALCON paced roughly and broke during the latter stages of the score up losing several lengths. A warning was placed against the mobile barrier record of FEARCE FALCON.
GUNSLINGER BROMAC over-raced for a distance near the 1300 metres.
KEZZA'S LASS commenced to give ground from near the 500 metres and was not persevered with thereafter. Stewards requested a post-race veterinary examination of KEZZA'S LASS which revealed the mare to be suffering from mild dehydration.
FATHER TED hung inwards and paced roughly for several strides near the 250 metres.
DENNIS LILLEE ducked outwards and broke over the concluding stages, with the gelding remaining in a break across the finish line.
Authorisation of third placing being awarded to DENNIS LILLEE was withheld until the Stewards were satisfied that the gelding had complied with the Breaking Horse Regulations when in a break over the concluding stages.
 
Race 6 NRM RACE AND BREEDING FEEDS MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
THE HIGH ROLLER was declared a late scratching at 8:52am, with a veterinary certificate to be supplied.
SILVER DALE broke in the score up resulting in the gelding being several lengths out of position at the dispatch inconveniencing IT'S A DEAL and CANARDLY REMEMBER on the second line. A warning was placed on the mobile barrier record of SILVER DALE.
PAY MASTER was out of position at the dispatch despite the efforts of its driver. Junior driver R McIlwrick will be spoken to and advised that he is to make a better effort to maintain his foot in the sulky footrest prior to the start.
FEAR XCHANGE paced roughly when inclined to hang inwards rounding the first bend. FEAR XCHANGE then raced wide prior to being improved to obtain a parked position near the 1600 metres.
IT'S A DEAL commenced to over-race near the 700 metres. IT'S A DEAL then broke passing the 400 metres losing its chance.
TWO PLY commenced to race greenly passing the 600 metres when hanging outwards. TWO PLY then paced roughly and broke when being restrained. Contributing to this incident was the easing of the pace in the three out line. When questioned regarding this driver B McLellan advised that when he attempted to improve his position TWO PLY had commenced to race greenly simultaneous to an easing of the pace.
Following the event, Stewards viewed video coverage and were satisfied that the chances of IT'S A DEAL and CANARDLY REMEMBER were not materially affected when inconvenienced by the breaking SILVER DALE through the latter stages of the score up.
 
Race 7 ZILCO HOPPLES AT FARMLANDS INVERCARGILL MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
BLACK ATHENA broke during the early stages of the score up and was a considerable distance out of position at the dispatch. A warning was placed against the mobile barrier record of BLACK ATHENA.
SWEET AS paced roughly for a short distance through the latter stages of the score up.
BLACK ATHENA paced roughly shortly after the start.
ANOTHER WINDERMERE hung inwards through the middle stages when obliged to race wide. ANOTHER WINDERMERE then gave ground from the 600 metres inconveniencing BILLY THE BUS.
COOL CHANGES hung outwards near the 550 metres when attempting a run to the inside of MACHINEGUN KELLY, contacting the inside sulky wheel of that runner. COOL CHANGES then had to shift wider near the 350 metres to avoid the weakening BEALE STREET BOY.
JUSTASIP was held up through the early and middle stages of the run home.
SWEET AS and MACARDO locked sulky stays passing the 50 metres with Junior driver R McIlwrick (SWEET AS) having to steady his runner.
When questioned regarding the improved performance of ELLE KO trainer M Brown could offer no tangible explanation.
When questioned regarding the performance of favoured runner COOL CHANGES driver J Cox advised that in his opinion the race was not run to suit the gelding.
 
Race 8 INT'L ANIMAL HEALTH BLOOD & OXYGEN FROM FARMLANDS MOB PACE Video  Video 
ELLNBAC hung inwards throughout the score up and was out of position at the dispatch. A warning was placed on the mobile barrier record of the mare.
FRANCO NIXON paced roughly throughout the score up and was a length out of position at the dispatch.
BETTORDEAN hung inwards entering the bend near the 1500 metres briefly forcing LEAH MAC inside the running line.
DISSOLUTION improved wide from near the 1000 metres.
BETTORDEAN commenced to weaken from the near the 600 metres and was not persevered with thereafter. Stewards requested a post-race veterinary examination which detected no clinical abnormalities.
LEAH MAC underwent a post-race veterinary examination which did not revealed any abnormalities.
Stewards opened and adjourned an inquiry into the driving tactics adopted in this event by R McIlwrick (BETTORDEAN) and M Parker (LEAH MAC).
