Race 10 - THE YALDHURST HOTEL MOBILE PACE
At a hearing held today, Junior Horseman T Quate (assisted by his employer T Chmiel) pled guilty to a charge of failing to give his horse, WAR HORSE, all reasonable and permissible chance to finish in the best possible position by not utilising the passing lane throughout the home straight despite there being full access to it. After viewing all available films and hearing from Stewards, Mr Quate and Mr Chmiel regarding penalty the J.C.A imposed a fine of $350.00 and suspended Mr Quate's horseman's licence from the end of racing today 21st April 2016 up to and including the Timaru HRC's meeting on the 15th May 2016. (8 Driving days)

Race 1 FAHEY FENCE HIRE & DAKINS GROUP - 1 STOP SHOP TROT Video  Video 
WESTAR BELLA, MAGNAFIQUE, KING OF THE ROSES and LAVROS JACK all had difficulty addressing the barriers which caused a considerable delay to the start of this race. Stewards placed warnings on the barrier record of WESTAR BELLA, MAGNAFIQUE and KING OF THE ROSES. LAVROS JACK must complete one satisfactory trial from a stand prior to racing next.
LAVROS JACK swung sideways and broke at the start inconveniencing RUSTY I AM which unbalanced driver P Wakelin.
RUM IN THE SUN, BONE IDOL, MAGNAFIQUE and KAIMANAWA broke at the start losing their chance.
SUGAR CANE was slow to begin.
MOTU GREAT SENSATION broke after 100 metres hampering WESTAR BELLA which had to shift ground outwards.
RUSTY I AM broke for a short distance near the 2150 metres.
SOUTH COASTER broke near the 400 metres inconveniencing RUSTY I AM.
Stewards spoke with driver B Borcoskie regarding MOTU GREAT SENSATION racing in the passing lane for a short distance immediately after the start. Mr Borcoskie advised that the horse which he was drawn to follow out (WESTAR BELLA) had reared on several occasions prior to the start causing him to be wary of its manners and for this reason he had shifted inwards when that filly had been slow to begin. Notwithstanding this Mr Borcoskie was advised that it was not permissible for any runner to access the passing lane other than in the final lap and he was issued with a warning.
 
Race 2 ADDINGTON'S SANITATION SPECIALISTS & FENCING MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
CHRISTIAN LADY over-raced through the early and middle stages.
BURN OFF which had also over-raced in the middle stages tired from the 900 metres inconveniencing CHRISTIAN LADY near the 500 metres who had to shift wider on the track.
BILLY JACK paced roughly then broke passing the 400 metres. Driver B Butt advised this gelding had been hitting a knee.
 
Race 3 KEEP IT LOCAL - FAHEY FENCE HIRE & DAKINS PACE Video  Video 
THE GOLDEN CROSS, TOM ME GUN, GLENISTHEBETTOR and BLACK ART broke at the start with GLENISTHEBETTOR failing to settle losing its chance.
ALANTIC broke racing into the first bend and in consequence to this broke its near side hopple with the gelding retired from the race. This gear was inspected and found to be in good order.
DYNAMO raced roughly on the bend near the 1600 metres. This gelding then raced keenly through the middle stages and raced greenly through the back straight on the final occasion when covered by other runners
CLAUS was held up in the early and middle stages of the run home.
TOM ME GUN was inclined to lay inwards nearing the 150 metres and raced inside several track markers.
Trainer T Trathen advised that it was his intention to restrict BLACK ART to mobile racing for its immediate future.
 
Race 4 DAKINS & FAHEY FENCING FOR CONSTRUCTION & EVENTS MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
LLOYDIN MAGIC paced roughly and broke shortly after the start causing a check to SCOTLYNN MADE and SOUTHBROOK. A warning was placed on the mare's barrier record.
SMOOTH FIRE raced wide and without cover until near the 1200 metres when restrained to the back of the field.
IREBY MEG over-raced in the middle stages.
RETURNTOROCKNROLL improved wide from the 900 metres then weakened on the final bend.
 
Race 5 FAHEY FENCING & DAKINS FOR COMMERCIAL & DOMESTIC WORK PACE Video  Video 
SHELLY ANN reared on several occasions and was unable to stand in its position with the mare being sent to the unruly position. Trainer D Taylor was advised that the mare would remain drawn unruly and must also trial satisfactorily from a standing start prior to resuming.
The start was further delayed when SAUCHIEHALL refused to move and could not be brought up into its barrier position despite considerable assistance from the attendants with this runner being declared a late scratching. Trainer J Gameson was advised that the mare must trial satisfactorily from a standing start.
VANHALEM raced roughly in the early stages.
OHOKA BENSON was inclined to hang inwards when under pressure rounding the final bend. A subsequent veterinary examination of this gelding revealed no clinical abnormalities.
 
Race 6 KEEP IT LOCAL - FAHEY FENCE HIRE & DAKINS MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
SNOWDEN paced roughly rounding the first bend and on several occasions during the running. This gelding then tired passing the 600 metres causing TAKE A GAMBLE and FRANCO HAMILTON to be held up for a considerable distance.
OMIHI EL raced wide and without cover throughout and weakened near the 500 metres.
MAN OF CHANGE hung inwards and contacted several markers rounding the final bend.
 
Race 7 DAKINS GROUP & FAHEY FENCE HIRE - 1 STOP SHOP PACE Video  Video 
MARQUIS EYRE broke as the start was effected.
INNOCENT ARTIST began awkwardly and shifted outwards making contact with MONGOLIAN ARCHER.
EMILY BLUNT was slow to begin.
JOEY MAGUIRE raced roughly in the early stages.
IDEAL ARDEN raced keenly near the 1400 metres.
MONGOLIAN ARCHER was inclined to lay out and race greenly at various stages during the running.
MARQUIS EYRE tired from the 400 metres.
D Dunn as the driver of INNOCENT ARTIST was spoken to regarding his use of the whip in the final straight.
Stewards spoke with R Houghton as the driver of JOEY MAGUIRE regarding the manner in which he drove leaving the final bend when his gelding shifted outwards. After considering his explanation Mr Houghton was advised that in future it was expected he make a better effort to keep his runners straight.
Stewards questioned driver B Hutton (IDEAL ARDEN) regarding his decision to maintain his position behind STROKE OF LUCK passing the 400 metres which resulted in his entire being held up for clear racing room until near the 150 metres. Mr Hutton explained that IDEAL ARDEN was not travelling as well as anticipated near the 400 metres which he felt was due to racing parked in the early stages. He added that at this stage he had conceded half a length to STROKE OF LUCK and believed it was in his best interests to maintain his position nearer to the pylons. Mr Hutton said that IDEAL ARDEN had improved in the early stages of the run home but when placed under pressure passing the 150 metres his runner had not responded but instead, he felt, lost further ground. After reviewing the films and considering his explanation, Stewards took the matter no further.
 
Race 8 FAHEY FENCING & DAKINS FOR CONSTRUCTION & EVENTS MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
KARMIC FIRE hung through the middle stages of the score up and as a result was well back at the start. Stewards placed a warning on the colt's barrier record.
GUNPOWDER hung inwards and raced greenly through the early stages.
ARTICULIGHT raced keenly in the middle stages.
BETTOR LUCK and GUNPOWDER were held up on the final bend.
N McGrath (ONE BIG FELLA) dropped his foot briefly in the early stages of the run home.
 
Race 9 DAKINS & FAHEY FENCING FOR COMMERCIAL & DOMESTIC WORK TROT Video  Video 
JEAN SEBASTIEN began awkwardly.
WE'LL MEET AGAIN broke as the start was effected.
MAJESTIC DE FENCE broke shortly after the start.
KO WRECTED broke shortly after the start and again when racing into the first bend.
D D TROTTER broke racing into the first bend.
JEAN SEBASTIEN trotted roughly on occasions through the middle stages.
I'M NOT EYRE over-raced in the middle stages.
Near the 850 metres JEAN SEBASTIEN again trotted roughly and lost several lengths.
WANDERING STAR commenced to tire passing the 500 metres and inconvenienced WE'LL MEET AGAIN and JEAN SEBASTIEN which became held up in consequence. WANDERING STAR then struck track markers around the final turn when hanging inwards under pressure.
Near the 300 metres MOMENTOUS had to be steadied when placed in restricted room between BACARDI N COKE and WE'LL MEET AGAIN which both shifted ground.
INSIGNIFICANT was held up in the early stages of the run home.
I'M NOT EYRE raced roughly passing the 100 metres and broke soon after which inconvenienced JEAN SEBASTIEN which had to shift outwards.

FOUR STARZZZ SPECIAL was slow from its unruly position.
GOTTA MAMA, DIOS DEL FUEGO and DIPTEE BROMAC broke at the start.
CAITLIN FRANCO raced fiercely through the middle stages and despite L O'Reilly's efforts was unable to be restrained between the 1300 metres and 1100 metres to surrender the lead to the improving PEMBROOK HARRY.
DIPTEE BROMAC broke nearing the 1000 metres hampering DIOS DEL FUEGO which was held up and had to shift ground. DIPTEE BROMAC then hung inwards around the final bend.
CAITLIN FRANCO weakened passing the 400 metres causing an inconvenience to CHAMPAGNE REIGN, ROZZANO and FOUR STARZZZ SPECIAL which became held up and had to shift ground. CAITLIN FRANCO then struck pylons around the final turn when shifting inwards under pressure.
BATTLE BORN was held up for a short distance leaving the final bend.
ROZZANO shifted inwards in the early stages of the run home to obtain clear running however when doing so made contact with several markers. Driver C Thornley will be spoken to in the coming days regarding this.
CHAMPAGNE REIGN lay inwards throughout the final straight.
ILDIVO was inclined to lay outwards throughout the run home.
