Trainer B Weaver reported that following its disappointing performance PAY ME SUSH was found to be tied-up upon return to his stable which has been treated. Mr Weaver added that it was his intention to continue with the mare's preparation namely at the Manawatu meeting on 16th February 2016.

Race 1 MITAVITE MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
KIRRA KID paced roughly at the start.
CLASSY CHAPEL was held up for clear racing room over the early stages of the run home.
KIRRA KID was held up for clear running until inside the 50 metres.
An Information was lodged alleging Driver J. Stormont used his whip excessively on SLEEPING BEAUTY over the concluding stages. The breach was admitted and the J.C.A. imposed a fine of $300.00.

An investigation was held into an incident near the 1700 metres where ROBBIE BURNS broke briefly after appearing to be forced to race wider on the track when MOTOWN shifted out to a three wide position off the back of MASTERCRAFTSMAN which then also shifted out from the one out running line. After hearing the relative evidence and viewing the replays the Stewards were satisfied that Drivers J. Dickie (MOTOWN) and T. Herlihy (MASTERCRAFTSMAN) had both commenced their respective outward movements prior to having their sulky wheels covered by the improving runner and no further action was deemed necessary.
MASTERCRAFTSMAN lay in passing the 300 metres inconveniencing ULTIMATE DESIRE which paced roughly for a stride.
BETTORS POCKET and ROBBIE BURNS were held up for clear racing room early in the run home.
MOTOWN (favourite) improved around to race outside the leader during the middle stages and then raced three back on the outer before commencing to improve three wide from the 600 metres but was forced four wide on the final turn and only battled over the final stages to finish in 7th place, beaten 3.8 lengths. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

Trainer N. Chilcott was issued a Minor Infringement Notice and fined $100.00 for presenting THE CROWN JEWELS into the assembly area with the incorrect saddle cloth number.
GLENELEVEN was slow away.
ARANNALEA and HIGHLAND STAR broke at the start both settling towards the rear.
THE CROWN JEWELS broke 100 metres after the start.
GLENELEVEN broke after 150 metres and settled at the rear before galloping near the 1600 metres losing all chance.
ARANNALEA broke with 200 metres to run.

MY KIWI LADY paced roughly entering the first turn when trailing the leader.
 
Race 5 POWELL TRANSPORT HANDICAP TROT Video  Video 
No claims were lodged for YALDY BOYZ or MOMENT OF TRUTH.
SAN DIEGO LOVE was slow away.
ROCK TONIGHT broke shortly after the start losing all chance.
DJOKOVIC, which led early before handing up to COMMANDER PARIS near the 2000 metres, unsuccessfully contested for the lead racing down the back straight between the 1800 metres and 1600 metres before being restrained back to take a trail on the back of COMMANDER PARIS.
Drivers P. Ferguson (TORBJORN) and K. Marshall (TERESKOVA) were questioned regarding an incident approaching the 1100 metres where TORBJORN appeared to be forced to race three wide after TERESKOVA shifted out to the one out running line. After hearing the relative evidence and viewing the replays it was established that Driver K. Marshall (TERESKOVA) had commenced his outward movement prior to TORBJORN covering his sulky wheel and no further action was deemed necessary. VERY PERSUASIVE was inconvenienced in this incident when briefly forced to race four wide and lost the trail on the back of LUCKY FORTUNE.
MOMENT OF TRUTH hung in and broke near the 400 metres losing its chance.
YALDY BOYZ trotted roughly under pressure early in the run home and was unable to be fully driven out.
MOMENT OF TRUTH was held up late in the run home.
Driver R. Close (STAR FILLY) was cautioned for the manner in which he drove early in the run home when racing over a number of pylons when attempting to improve in the passing lane.
VERY PERSUASIVE was cleared from the unruly for future standing starts.
 
Race 6 BRECKON FARMS YOUNG GUNS SERIES (HEAT 4) MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
ALTA INTRIGUE raced greenly throughout the running.
MONGOLIAN HERO lay out through the back straight the last time, rounding the final bend and was again inclined to shift ground outward after improving into the passing lane for the run home.
Driver T. Herlihy momentarily dropped his foot from the sulky foot rest when activating gear on MONGOLIAN HERO entering the passing lane.
 
Race 7 COCA-COLA HANDICAP TROT Video  Video 
REALMEIN broke near the 2200 when at the rear losing all chance.
REALMEIN broke again in the run home when trailing the field.
KD HALL trotted roughly under pressure in the run home and could not be driven out.
 
Race 8 WOODLANDS STUD MILE HIGH MARES SERIES (HEAT 2) MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
Trainer R.J. Dunn (MISS DAISY) was charged a Colour Fee of $25.00.
SHARDS PHOENIX hung inwards and paced roughly racing into the first bend.
IDEAL QUEST raced wide in the early stages until being improved to race adjacent to the leader near the 1000 metres.
NORVIC RUBY broke passing the 100 metres when shifting out off the back of the weakening IDEAL QUEST.
CHARMING DESIRE tired over the final stages.
Junior Driver A. Poutama (IDEAL QUEST) was questioned regarding the manner in which he drove entering the back straight after having improved around to race outside the leader and in particular in relation to whether he would have been better served to have not applied pressure to the leader ON THE TOWN (favourite) in the manner in which he did which resulted in the third quarter of the last mile being run in 27.8. IDEAL QUEST then weakened from the 200 metres to finish in 10th place, beaten 15 lengths. Mr Poutama stated that his driving instructions were to go forward and look to find the lead so he elected to improve from inside the 1200 metres to race outside ON THE TOWN. Mr Poutama further stated that after having a brief look for the lead, which was not available, that IDEAL QUEST began to over-race so he allowed the mare to roll along as it had raced well when driven in a similar manner previously. He further added that connections were disappointed with the mare's run given that she had shown little in the run home and had recovered well after the run. Mr Poutama's comments were noted.

DESTINED FOR HEAVEN paced roughly on the final turn.
ARDEN'S CHOICE (leader) shifted out under pressure on straightening for the run home when clear of other runners.

BEYOND THE SILENCE mixed its gait over the initial stages and was slow away.

Driver J. Abernethy (OUR SOUTHERN MAN) was cautioned for failing to have his gelding fully in position at dispatch.
OUR SOUTHERN MAN paced roughly racing into the first bend when in restricted room between NO APACHEMEE and SIKORA.
AMBRO COURAGE broke passing the 400 metres inconveniencing NICOLE VAIDISOVA and badly checking CELTIC WARRIOR and ELLIOT DANIEL. A warning was placed on the racing manners record of AMBRO COURAGE.
