Race 1 MERIDIAN ENERGY AMATEUR DRIVERS MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
There were no claims received for WAIPIPI FALCON.
WAIPIPI FALCON broke entering the first turn checking SHARDS PHOENIX which also broke with both horses settling at the rear. IMAJOLLYWALLY was also checked in this incident.
An information was lodged charging Amateur Horsewomen S Furness (WAIPIPI FALCON) under Rule 869(3)(c) on the grounds that she drove recklessly entering the first bend which resulted in WAIPIPI FALCON breaking with resultant interference to A CHANCE TO DREAM and IMAJOLLYWALLY. The charge was admitted and after hearing submissions as to penalty the JCA imposed a suspension up to and including 21 July 2016.
A minor infringement notice was issued and a $100 fine imposed on Trainer T Vince for gear incorrectly applied on CELTIC WARRIOR after the sliding blinds failed to activate.
 
Race 2 NRM HANDICAP TROT Video  Video 
AWA CATHRINE broke for several strides at the start.
KING DAVID broke shortly after the start and settled at the rear.
LUNDQVIST broke near the 500 metres when trailing the leader losing all chance.
Horseman P Butcher advised that he was unable to drive GREY STOKE out fully as the gelding was trotting unevenly.
 
Race 3 CHALLENGE CAMBRIDGE MOBILE TROT Video  Video 
There were no claims lodged for COOL SON, DONNY WOOD or KD COMMANDO.
DONNY WOOD was fierce in the score up.
THE SCRUFF was a length off the gate at despatch.
DONNY WOOD broke shortly after the start but soon settled.
SHADY SADIE broke approaching the first bend losing considerable ground and while in a gallop badly inconveniencing COOL SON affecting it by at least 5 lengths.
SHADY SADIE broke again near the 750 metres losing all chance.
Driver D Balle (COOL SON) was questioned regarding his apparent lack of vigour over the final stages. Mr Balle stated that considering the sectionals in the race the horse was doing its best. The Stewards accepted his explanation but advised him that he should leave no room for query. Mr Balle advised the Stewards that he would notify a change of gear and this gelding will race without a whip for its immediate future racing.
 
Race 4 BALANCE AGRI-NUTRIENTS HANDICAP TROT Video  Video 
There were no claims for SILVER STREAM.
JOMO reared on several occasions when called forward onto the barrier.
SILVER STREAM tended to over race when leading during the middle stages.
PALAIS ROYAL was held up early in the run home.
 
Race 5 PARKLANDS TURF LTD MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
SAUCYCULLEN lay in in the score up.
SHEZA SPRINGFIELD, which raced three wide from the 1200 metres, tired over the final stages.
WILL DESIRE and SABRAGE locked wheels on straightening for the run home.
SPARE CHANGE veered out near the 150 metres when clear of other runners.
 
Race 6 DOW AGRO-SCIENCES MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
PRIME SILVER tended to lay out in the score up and then continued to do so during the running.
ELLE CLASSIQUE when challenging for the lead racing toward the first bend paced roughly with Driver J Abernethy easing to take a trail behind the leader.
CHRISTIAN FALCON was held up rounding the final bend and late in the run home.
 
Race 7 FARMLANDS HAUTAPU HANDICAP PACE Video  Video 
THOMAS MCBRIDE broke at the start and galloped inwards before then shifting up the track checking LIBERTY STYX, which had also broken at the start, with both runners settling at the rear. A warning was placed on the standing start manners of THOMAS MCBRIDE.
 
Race 8 FARMLANDS CO-OPERATIVE MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
ROYAL KATE, which showed early gate speed to lead, commenced to give ground leaving the back straight the final time. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
Race 9 McMILLAN EQUINE FEEDS MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
PURE CHRISTIAN commenced to over-race during the middle stages when midfield on the inner.
