Race 2 - BISHOPDALE/BUSH INN TABS & TAVERN HAREWOOD MOBILE PACE
Trainer J Reardon has advised Stewards that NORTHVIEW MAJOR has recovered well since its disappointing run at Motukarara on 17 January. Mr Reardon stated that the horse over-raced in that race which was its first in six months adding that the gelding has derived considerable benefit from the run.

Trainer B Butt has advised Stewards that following its disappointing run at Addington last week, blood tests taken from MATATOKI have revealed that the gelding was suffering from a lung infection. Mr Butt further advised that MATATOKI has now been sent for a spell.
Race 3 - SBSR SHARD FARMS, J McEWAN, B FRANKS, M LITTLE MOBILE PACE
Trainer N McGrath has advised Stewards that following its disappointing performance at Addington last week, PEPE BROMAC was scoped and had blood tests taken with no irregularities found. This gelding will start on Monday at Rangiora with a tongue tie added to its gear with Mr McGrath adding that it has worked well in preparation for this engagement.
Race 9 - SBSR GLENBROOK PARK, G STALKER, GRANT ENTERPRISES HCP TROT
Trainer C DeFilippi advised that subsequent to its last start ALLEY WAY has been treated by a chiropractor for back soreness.

Trainer A Lowe has advised Stewards that WANDERING STAR has been scoped since its disappointing run at Geraldine last weekend with no abnormalities detected. Mr Lowe added that the gelding is working well at home and will be returning to the trials in the coming weeks.

Race 1 GRAHAM REGISTER MEMORIAL MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
Trainer D Paterson was issued with a Minor Infringement Notice and fined $50 after being late to notify T Williams as the driver of BEAUDIENE GAMBLER.
MYBOYLOLLIEPOP raced keenly in the early stages.
MARTIN JOHN over-raced in the early and middle stages.
SWEET MARYLOU, BEAUDIENE GAMBLER, NOLAN SACKETT, BONTZ and MARTIN JOHN were held up for clear racing room in the early stages of the run home.
MARKIM hung inwards passing the 200 metres.
BEAUDIENE GAMBLER paced roughly near the 200 metres.
NOLAN SACKETT paced roughly with 150 metres to run.
JONTY JAMES weakened over the concluding stages with a post-race veterinary examination revealing no abnormalities. When questioned regarding the performance of the gelding, driver G Smith advised that the horse had failed to respond when placed under pressure. He added that he will be recommending gear changes to the gelding and advised that it will be driven with a sit in future if circumstances permit.
Driver G Smith (JONTY JAMES) was warned to ensure he maintains a straight course in the run home after his horse shifted outwards near the 300 metres.
 
Race 2 STUDHOLME BLOODSTOCK MARES MOBILE TROT Video  Video 
CUDDLY JESS broke in the early stages.
KERRYN KYLIE broke with 1200 metres to run.
LE LIEVRE'S GIFT and CUDDLY JESS were held up in the early stages of the run home.
Driver J Curtin advised he did not activate the removable gear on LE LIEVRE'S GIFT due to having the field covered.
 
Race 3 CHRISTCHURCH CLEANING SUPPLIES PACE Video  Video 
HEIR POCKET, AUTOMATIC and MAGICAL MURF broke at the start.
VOLATILE LAVRA paced roughly with 1500 metres to run after over-racing.
AUTOMATIC hung inwards when improving at the 1100 metres.
NIKEIRA over-raced with 1000 metres to run before weakening from the 800 metres. Driver L O'Reilly advised that the mare had choked down. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
HEIR POCKET broke with 500 metres to run. Co-trainer/driver P Wakelin advised she would be adding an over-check to the gelding's gear.
BOUNCER was held up on the final bend.
LORD JASE THE MACE gave ground on the final bend.
SMOOTH N EASY was held up in the middle stages of the run home.
AUTOMATIC and MAGICAL MURF hung inwards throughout the home straight.

NEW YEARS JAY was trapped wide in the early stages.
TINTINARA raced keenly throughout.
NEW YEARS JAY hung inwards in the early stages of the run home.
ALBUQUERQUE was held up in the early stages of the home straight.
When spoken to regarding the performance of SHEEZA SHARK driver C DeFilippi advised he was disappointed with the effort. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer A Stack indicated that he would be having blood tests taken and Stewards will follow up the mare's recovery with the trainer in the coming days.
 
Race 5 TELTRAC COMMUNICATIONS NZ SAPLING STAKES (MOBILE PACE) Video  Video 
BETTOR TO BE TRICKY paced roughly in the early stages.
JIMMIE raced keenly rounding the first bend.
MONGOLIAN STORM was placed in restricted room near the 900 metres after JIMMIE improved three wide.
MORE THE BETTER and YOU GOTTA HAVE FAITH were held up in the early stages of the run home.
MORE THE BETTER brushed a pylon near the 250 metres.
MONGOLIAN STORM hung outwards in the home straight.
 
Race 6 PHILIP MCDONALD MEMORIAL MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
The required medical clearance was received for M Purvis to resuming driving.
Trainer B Ward was charged a $25 colour fee for BIRD OF PARADISE.
GERALD over-raced shortly after the start.
CHRISTOPHER BANNER raced wide in the early stages before improving to the lead passing the 1600 metres.
BIRD OF PARADISE was forced wider on the track passing the 400 metres and paced roughly after BLINGITON shifted ground outwards. Driver N Harris (BLINGITON) was shown a replay and warned for the manner in which she drove.
GERALD and CORROBOREE were held up in the early stages of the run home.
HAPPY AS LARRY had to be restrained near the 200 metres after being held up behind BLINGITON.
COURTNEY JOHN paced roughly over the final 50 metres.
Stewards questioned Junior Horseman J Morrison (HAPPY AS LARRY), in the presence of Senior Horseman C Thornley, regarding the tactics he adopted passing the 400 metres when shifting inwards to a position behind BLINGITON before being held up. Mr Morrison explained that he had been instructed to save the gelding for one run and he was of the opinion that BIRD OF PARADISE which he was trailing on the final bend was beginning to tire after being hard driven so he elected to shift inwards rather than improving five and six wide leaving the bend. After considering the matter Stewards advised Mr Morrison that he had erred in his judgement by not improving wider however after taking into account his relative inexperience, he was reprimanded and advised he must not drive in a manner which will leave him open to query.
Stewards questioned Junior Horseman M Anderson regarding his decision not to activate the hopple shorteners on the winner CHRISTOPHER BANNER. Mr Anderson advised that he had taken the hopples up four holes and as the gelding had been pacing well throughout he elected to leave them in.
 
Race 7 NEUMANNS BANDAG HAMBLETONIAN CLASSIC (MOBILE TROT) Video  Video 
WILMA'S MATE and BEG HALL broke at the start.
ASTRAL RULER broke with 400 metres to run.
BEG HALL broke with 200 metres to run.
Driver B Butt reported that he did not activate the removable deafeners on CONON BRIDGE due to having the field covered.
Stewards requested a post-race veterinary examination of WILMA'S MATE after co-trainer/driver D Butt advised she had trotted roughly. This examination revealed no abnormalities. Stewards will follow up the recovery of WILMA'S MATE in the coming days.
 
Race 8 NEVELE R FILLIES SERIES 'CONDITIONED HEAT' (MOBILE PACE) Video  Video 
ANGEL OF DESTINY paced roughly in the score up and shifted outwards abruptly checking RR SAND DOLLAR, TALKERUP, ARTFUL and MY CASH however all horses were able to regain their allocated positions. ANGEL OF DESTINY was placed on the unruly for future mobile starts.
MY CASH was placed in restricted room racing into the first bend when racing between REAL TORQUE and EMILY BLUNT.
ANGEL OF DESTINY hung outwards and lost ground passing the 1200 metres hampering ARTFUL and EMILY BLUNT. A warning was placed on the racing manners of ANGEL OF DESTINY. Stable representative J Dunn advised they would be making gear changes to the filly prior to resuming.
ANGEL OF DESTINY gave ground on the final bend. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
MILLWOOD MAIZIE was held up for clear racing room in the early stages of the run home.
REAL TORQUE was held up in the early and middle stages of the run home.
RR SAND DOLLAR paced roughly in the home straight.
 
Race 9 PREMIER EQUINE VETS PACE Video  Video 
CORINGA DELIGHT tangled away.
BEALE STREET BOY, CHRISTIAN LADY and MIDFREW TARPEDIEM raced wide in the early stages.
FRANCO SANCHEZ hung inwards when improving three wide during the middle stages.
FRANCO SANCHEZ and HOPEFUL HARRIET raced wide throughout.
CORINGA DELIGHT hung inwards near the 300 metres.
EM AY, JUST BEN, ASK ME ART, MANY OPTIONS and HESTIA FRANCO were held up for clear racing room in the early stages of the run home.
MAN OF STEEL and THISGIRLISONFIRE were denied clear racing room throughout the home straight. Driver J Cox (THISGIRLISONFIRE) advised he did not activate the removable deafeners on the filly.
Driver D Dunn advised that he did not activate the removable deafeners on DOUBLE SHOT due to having the field covered.
Driver J Curtin advised that one sliding blind did not activate on HOPEFUL HARRIET.
 
Race 10 NEW ZEALAND NOEL TAYLOR TROTTING HALL OF FAME HANDICAP TROT Video  Video 
WILLIE SHINE broke after 200 metres.
SONEY BEATT and WILLIE SHINE raced wide in the early stages.
WILLIE SHINE broke again with 1800 metres to run.
YANKEE COMMANDO raced keenly in the middle stages.
SONEY BEATT was trapped wide when improving with 800 metres to run.
YANKEE COMMANDO and DANKE had difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the early stages of the run home.
PRECIOUS MOMENT trotted roughly in the home straight.
 
Race 11 DEVON TAVERN MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
There was a delay to the start of this event due to the sulkies on ART CRITIC and JOEY MAGUIRE having to be changed.
DALNESS XCHANGE hung inwards in the score up.
NORTHERN VELOCITY paced roughly in the early stages.
ART CRITIC raced wide racing into the first bend before improving to the lead at the 1700 metres.
THE PERSUADER raced wide and over-raced in the early stages when being restrained to the rear of the field.
SPIRIT OF CHRONOS raced keenly passing the 1800 metres and paced roughly.
SPIRIT OF CHRONOS hung inwards and paced roughly passing the 1200 metres and was then caught wide for the remainder of the race.
DANNY DEL VITO broke with 300 metres to run hampering the trailing LIVE TO TELL which was forced to race inside pylons.

EYRISH MIST broke shortly after the start.
Stewards lodged a protest under Rule 870(3) and the Breaking Horse Regulations alleging that EYRISH MIST had broken in excess of 150 metres in the early stages. The connections did not contest the protest and EYRISH MIST was disqualified from 3rd place by the JCA.
