Race 9 - CHANGEOVER MOBILE PACE
After considering this matter further, Stewards sought leave from the JCA to withdraw a charge under Rule 869(4)(6)(b)(c) against driver C Thornley (FRANCO HAMMOND) alleging he was in breach of the Push Out Rule near the 1400 metres. Notwithstanding this Mr Thornley was warned for the manner in which he drove at this stage of the race.

Race 6 - TRILLIAN TRUST PACE
At a JCA hearing held today following an adjournment from the Oamaru HRC meeting on 21 January 2016, driver J Young (EM AY) in the presence of Senior Horseman B Orange was charged with a breach of Rule 869(3)(b) in that she drove carelessly racing into the first bend when allowing her horse to shift inwards checking BUCKEYE (J Geddes) which broke. During the course of today's hearing Miss Young elected to change her plea and admit the breach. After considering submissions on penalty and viewing the replays, the JCA suspended Miss Young's Horsewoman's licence from the conclusion of racing today up to and including 8 February 2016 (4 days).

Race 9 - YEALANDS FAMILY WINES MARLBOROUGH CUP (HCP PACE)
Stable representative D Dunn has advised Stewards that LIGHTNING MACH has recovered well from its racing at Blenheim last weekend and is continuing its planned preparation. Mr Dunn was of the opinion that the gelding had not handled the shifty nature of the track at Waterlea.
Race 10 - A1 DRYCLEANING & LAUNDRY MOBILE PACE
Co-Trainer T Chmiel has advised Stewards that NEK TIME was found to be suffering from a viral infection after returning home from Blenheim. This is being treated with antibiotics and the gelding will return to training when the infection has cleared up.

The boring pole on STELLAR SUCCESS was removed prior to the start due to the mare warming up unfavourably.
REDWOOD INVASION, ONE FOR THE MONEY, THE WICKET PRINCE and TIJUANA TAXI broke at the start.
CHINA EXPRESS was checked at the start by the breaking THE WICKET PRINCE.
WANDERING STAR paced near the 1900 metres and had to be restrained by driver J Morrison.
DON'T LOOK BACK broke when leading passing the 1700 metres.
REDWOOD INVASION and LANDORA'S GIRL broke near the 1400 metres.
LANDORA'S GIRL broke again near the 900 metres.
REDWOOD INVASION trotted roughly before breaking passing the 600 metres.
RUSTY I AM broke passing the 400 metres and cast a shoe.
REDWOOD INVASION again broke in the early stages of the run home.
RUSTY I AM broke again near the 200 metres.
STELLAR SUCCESS hung outwards throughout the run home.
Trainer A Lowe advised that he would have WANDERING STAR scoped in the coming days after driver J Morrison reported that the gelding was making abnormal breathing noises during the race. Mr Lowe undertook to notify Stewards of the results.
 
Race 2 PETER WALSH & ASSOCIATES MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
DANIEL THOMAS underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start.
MAC TODDY broke briefly in the early stages of the score up.
DANIEL THOMAS hung outwards in the score up and was back out of position at the start.
A BETTER LOVER broke at the start.
LING ROWL hung inwards in the early stages of the run home.
A BETTER LOVER was held up for clear racing room through the early stages of the run home.
MAC TODDY hung outwards in the home straight.
AVEROSS FERRARI was held up for clear racing room throughout the final straight. Driver T Chmiel advised he did not activate the removable deafeners.
Driver C Thornley (BEST LAID PLANS) admitted a breach of Rule 869(2)(a) in that he used his whip excessively in the run home. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty, the JCA imposed a fine of $300.
 
Race 3 VILLAGE INN TAB & SPORTS BAR PACE Video  Video 
The start was delayed due to the gear on MANY OPTIONS requiring attention.
The start was further delayed when WONEATA G displayed poor barrier manners. A warning was placed on the standing start record of the mare.
CULLEY BACKY, ROCKI WARRIOR and LYIN EYES tangled away.
WONEATA G broke passing the 1600 metres.
LOIRE FRANCO gave ground on the final bend.
NADIA BAY, MANY OPTIONS and LYIN EYES had difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the early stages of the run home.
Stewards questioned driver G Smith (LOIRE FRANCO) regarding the tactics he adopted in the middle stages when improving three wide. Mr Smith explained that the mare is one paced and he attempted to improve to the parked position before the speed of the race increased, however LOIRE FRANCO had dropped the bit when attempting to cross ROCKI WARRIOR which obliged him to remain three wide without cover.
Drivers P Davis (LYIN EYES) and R Holmes (MANY OPTIONS) were warned for being late to arrive at the start point prior to the race.
 
Race 4 SLEEPYHEAD TROT Video  Video 
BK DAWN was a late scratching at 8.00am on veterinary advice.
THE WICKET KEEPER and ROYAL SHINE broke at the start.
MISSIE CASTLETON, HOLDON TOYASPURS, GLENIS MARIE and NEED SUCCESS were held up for clear racing room in the early stages of the run home.
KYLIE CASTLETON was held up for the majority of the run home.
THE ZIGMEISTER had to steady for a stride near the 50 metres after hanging inwards simultaneous to DREAM BIG shifting outwards marginally.
YOUNG STRANGER trotted roughly over the concluding stages.
 
Race 5 HARCOURTS GERALDINE PACE Video  Video 
The start was delayed due to SHEZ WICKED falling to the track. SHEZ WICKED underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Driver C Ferguson was unharmed. The mare was sent to the unruly position by Starter P Lamb. SHEZ WICKED raced with one number due to the other breaking when the mare fell to the track. SHEZ WICKED will now be drawn unruly for future standing starts.
BOUNCER broke at the start.
HANDSOME HERO broke at the start and shifted outwards locking wheels with AUTOMATIC momentarily.
BUFFY BAY was held up in the early and middle stages of the run home.
AUTOMATIC hung inwards and paced roughly near the 50 metres after becoming awkwardly placed to the sulky of LORD JASE THE MACE which shifted outwards marginally.
 
Race 6 SUPER LIQUOR PACE Video  Video 
MOTU LIGHTNING LASS, FRANCO CALIPH and PAY ME VISA broke at the start.
LIVE TO TELL gave ground on the final bend with the trailing FRANCO CALIPH being held up.
Driver R Payne (TUAPEKA ART) briefly dropped his foot from the sulky foot-rest near the 200 metres.
 
Race 7 HANLEY FORMULA ORARI CHALLENGE STAKES (MOBILE TROT) Video  Video 
GERSHWIN trotted roughly in the score-up and was back at the start.
SUNNY AFTERNOON and ASTRAL RULER broke shortly after the start.
COCKTAIL WAITER broke near the 1500 metres.
SEA EYRE broke approaching the 1200 metres and shifted inside the track markers for a short distance. Driver D Dunn reported that the gelding had shied causing it to break.
SEA EYRE hung inwards throughout the home straight despite the efforts of driver D Dunn.
Stewards lodged a protest under Rule 870(3) and the Breaking Horse Regulations against 3rd and 4th place being awarded to ASTRAL RULER and SUNNY AFTERNOON respectively on the grounds that they broke in excess of 150 metres in the early stages. The connections of both runners did not contest the protests and ASTRAL RULER and SUNNY AFTERNOON were disqualified by the JCA.
Authorisation of the promoted 3rd and 4th placings being awarded to SEA EYRE and COCKTAIL WAITER respectively were withheld until Stewards were satisfied that both horses had complied with the Breaking Horse Regulations.
ASTRAL RULER was placed on the unruly for future mobile starts at the request of trainer P Williamson.
 
Race 8 DONEGAL HOUSE FILLIES & MARES MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
JULIA LADY hung inwards in the score-up.
MOSCONI broke near the 1400 metres after being shifted down the track by MIGHTY IMPACT. Driver G Craw (MOSCONI) was warned for the manner in which he drove when failing to concede his position.
SHELLY ANN lost ground on the final bend after attempting to improve wide on the track.
JULIA LADY and MAJOR FOUR were held up in the early stages of the run home.
MOSCONI was held up throughout the run home. Driver G Craw advised he did not activate the removable deafeners.
DUCKS DELUXE was cleared from the unruly for future mobile starts.
 
Race 9 THE TYRE GENERAL/MORRISON'S SADDLERY & FEEDS MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
M Anderson was a late driver change on CANDERDEL replacing the injured M Purvis.
BREAK DANCE broke as the start was effected.
WOZNIACKI shifted inwards in the early stages when insufficiently clear of LILLY JONES resulting in LILLY JONES striking the sulky wheel of WOZNIACKI causing it to puncture. Driver J Harrington (WOZNIACKI) admitted a breach under Rule 869(3)(b) in that he drove carelessly. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty, the JCA suspended Mr Harrington's Horseman's licence from the conclusion of racing today up to and including 8 February 2016 (2 days).
WOZNIACKI broke near the 1000 metres after the tube became entangled in the sulky axle with the mare being retired from the race.
SCOTLYNN JUSTIS hung outwards despite the efforts of driver J Young when shifting ground inwards in the early stages of the run home and struck the sulky wheel of ONEDIN HIGHLANDER.
GO FELLA GO over-raced leaving the final bend and made contact with the sulky wheel of GERALD.
BREAK DANCE and GO FELLA GO were held up for clear racing room in the early stages of the run home.
BREAK DANCE shifted outwards over the concluding stages when being driven out. Driver K Butt (BREAK DANCE) was warned to make a greater effort to maintain a straight course in the run home.
Drivers S Golding (ONEDIN HIGHLANDER) and I Lee (GERALD) reported they had received punctured sulky tyres in the run home.
Stewards investigated a perceived breach of the Push Out Rule near the 1200 metres when CANDERDEL raced four wide. After viewing the replays it was established that BLINGITON had shifted outwards to a three wide position prior to CANDERDEL reaching the sulky wheel of BLINGITON. No further action was deemed necessary.
 
Race 10 FOUR PEAKS TRANSPORT PACE Video  Video 
MY CASH and LIVADIA broke at the start with MY CASH losing all chance.
GOING TO CALIFORNIA which was racing fiercely struck the sulky wheel of TABELLA JET near the 1700 metres after an easing of the pace with the tyre on TABELLA JET deflating. Driver M Williamson (TABELLA JET) eased his runner out of the race near the 1400 metres as a result.
EM AY was held up for clear racing room in the early and middle stages of the run home.
 
Race 11 TEMUKA TRANSPORT & MACKENZIE SUPPLY SERVICES MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
The start was delayed due to SHADOW RIDER requiring farrier attention.
FAIR DINKUM BROMAC paced roughly in the early stages with the trailing AVEROSS RUSTLER being inconvenienced.
SMOKIN CHICK over-raced in the early stages.
SHADOW RIDER raced wide in the early and middle stages.
SMOKIN CHICK continued to over-race when leading.
SHADOW RIDER, BILLY JACK, RED UNDER FIRE and MOTU SPEEDY STAR were held up for clear racing room through the early stages of the run home.
BOBBY T was held up through the early and middle stages of the run home.
MOTU SPEEDY STAR was held up throughout the home straight.
