Race 9 - SPEIGHTS MCMANUS HOTEL MOBILE PACE
Junior Driver K Cox (DIAMOND DELIGHT) defended a charge under Rule 869(3)(b) in that she drove carelessly passing the 700 metres when shifting inwards when not clear checking YOU BETTOR RULE which broke. After hearing the relative evidence the JCA found the charge proved and imposed a fine of $300.

Trainer J Cox has informed Stewards that ASTRO BOY has recovered well since suffering from dehydration at Blenheim last week and has worked pleasingly in preparation for its engagement this week at Addington. He further advised that the gelding will most likely be sent for a spell after this race.

Race 1 SBSR T WHITE STABLES, WATCH YOUR STEP, S BAUCKE MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
ANYCHANCE paced roughly in the early and middle stages.
ONEDIN'S DELIGHT broke with 600 metres to run. Driver D Dunn reported that the colt had struck a knee.
ANYCHANCE again paced roughly near the 500 metres hampering NOVAK.
SHE'S A MAJOR gave ground on the final bend.
MOSSDALE SUE and MAGICAL MURF were checked near the 300 metres after ANYCHANCE shifted outwards when pacing roughly. A warning was placed on the racing manners of ANYCHANCE.
Stewards requested a post-race veterinary examination of ANYCHANCE which revealed the gelding to be suffering from a sensitive splint on the off fore leg. Driver T Williams advised that he would be recommending gear changes prior to ANYCHANCE resuming.

Trainer R Holmes was issued a $100 Minor Infringement Notice after TEHORO HOLLY was presented without the notified pacifier.
Trainer T Butt was issued a $100 Minor Infringement Notice after BEG HALL was presented without the notified pacifier.
A false start was declared after DONEGAL BETTORGRETCH broke in the score up checking UNYIELDING SPIRIT. Driver D Dunn elected to move to the unruly for the re-start. A warning was placed on the mobile barrier record of DONEGAL BETTORGRETCH.
In the re-start DONEGAL BETTORGRETCH was well back off the unruly position.
K D MUSCLES, ROYAL KENNY, BEG HALL and DONEGAL BETTORGRETCH raced wide in the early stages.
K D MUSCLES was forced to race four wide near the 1400 metres after YOUNG STRANGER (C R Thornley) shifted ground outwards with K D MUSCLES breaking after becoming awkwardly placed close to the wheel of YOUNG STRANGER shortly afterwards with the trailing ALVIRA HEST being hampered. ROYAL KENNY and BEG HALL were obliged to race wide to avoid the breaking K D MUSCLES. Driver C R Thornley (YOUNG STRANGER) admitted a breach of the Push Out Rule and was fined $200 by the JCA.
DONEGAL BETTORGRETCH which was over-racing was restrained passing the 1200 metres after becoming awkwardly placed between UNYIELDING SPIRIT and BEG HALL.
YOUNG STRANGER broke near the 900 metres with BEG HALL breaking shortly after the sulkies of YOUNG STRANGER and BEG HALL came together.
MATATOKI gave ground on the final bend. When questioned regarding the performance of MATATOKI driver B Butt advised he was at a loss to explain the performance and had been very disappointed with the effort. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding had a slow recovery rate.
CHIVASION was held up for clear racing room until late in the run home.
 
Race 3 SBSR SHARD FARMS, J McEWAN, B FRANKS, M LITTLE MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
HIGHLAND REIGN was a late scratching at 9.40am on veterinary advice.
ROYAL COUNSEL hung inwards in the early stages when improving to the lead.
FRANCO TEXAS raced keenly in the middle stages.
PEPE BROMAC lost ground on the final bend after attempting to improve three wide from the 800 metres. When questioned regarding the performance of this gelding trainer/driver N McGrath could offer no explanation and was very disappointed with the effort. Stewards requested a post-race veterinary examination which revealed a slow recovery. Trainer N McGrath advised he would have blood tests taken in the coming days including a scope and undertook to notify the results of these tests to Stewards.
REAL COURAGE gave ground on the final bend. Driver S Abernethy advised he was unable to activate the removable deafeners on the filly due to the cord breaking.
CULLENS FIRST MEDDLE gave ground from the 300 metres with the trailing ROYAL COUNSEL, BUTE COURAGE and LIVING LEGEND all being held up.
ALBUQUERQUE was held up near the 250 metres and briefly locked wheels with ASTRO BOY.
ROYAL COUNSEL was again held up in the early stages of the home straight before shifting ground inwards to obtain clear running.
BUTE COURAGE was treated for hopple chafing following the race.
 
Race 4 SBSR BARRON BSTOCK, M CAIG, LEGENDS BSTOCK HANDICAP TROT Video  Video 
The required veterinary clearance was received for QUEEN KENNY to resume racing.
TORNADO VALLEY, ARRAN CHIEF, WANNA PLAY, EVERYBODY KNOWS and SUNNY RUBY broke in the early stages.
ARRAN CHIEF broke with 1900 metres to run.
STAR COMMANDO broke with 200 metres to run.
WANNA PLAY trotted roughly in the home straight.
When spoken to regarding the performance of SUNNY RUBY driver G Smith reported that the mare had peaked on her run after losing considerable ground in the early stages however he was of the opinion she would derive benefit from the race.
 
Race 5 SBSR BEAUDIENE & MURDOCH BSTOCK, G ALLEN MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
RUSSIAN EXPRESS was a late scratching at 6.10pm on veterinary advice. A veterinary clearance will be required prior to the gelding resuming.
FABULEUX paced roughly racing into the first bend.
ROYAL CAROLINE gave ground rounding the final bend with the trailing LOTTIE FRANCO, SELESTER and BIRD OF PARADISE being held up.
EXPRESSO MARTINI was held up in the early stages of the run home.
When questioned regarding the performance of HAPPY HEIDI driver K Cox explained that the mare is best driven with a sit and she was reluctant to improve her position in the middle stages due to no horses progressing three wide. Miss Cox added that she was pleased with the performance of the mare.
Driver M Edmonds admitted a breach of Rule 869(2)(a) in that he used his whip excessively in the run home when driving CHANGEOVER A FLYIN. After submissions on penalty the JCA suspended Mr Edmonds' Horseman's Licence from the conclusion of racing tonight up to and including 14 February 2016 (4 days).
 
Race 6 SBSR MACCA LODGE, TODDY BREED, DUNCRAIGEN MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
TERE THE TERMINATOR was a late scratching at 12.55pm on veterinary advice.
Trainer G Payne was charged a $25 colour fee for KARDESLER.
KARDESLER was out of position at the start after pacing roughly in the score up.
Driver R Payne (KARDESLER) admitted a breach of Rule 857(7)(e) in that he crossed over prior to the start and was fined $200 by the JCA.
SHINEONUCRAZYDIAMOND hung inwards passing the 1000 metres.
MONGOLIAN HERO hung inwards in the middle stages.
Near the 950 metres KARDESLER broke when becoming awkwardly placed near the sulky of SHINEONUCRAZYDIAMOND after an easing of the pace.
BETTOR BE NOISY gave ground on the final bend.
 
Race 7 SBSR ARDEN LODGE V DEVERY, DIAMONDHEAD. BRAEVIEW MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
G Smith replaced M Purvis as the driver of MACH CRUISER due to Mr Purvis being injured.
SEEL THE DEAL was out of position at the start despite the urgings of driver R May.
SEEL THE DEAL paced roughly shortly after the start.
NORTHVIEW GAMBLER and SHEEZA SHARK raced wide in the early stages.
MR MEDDLE weakened from the 400 metres.
SEEL THE DEAL was held up for clear racing room near the 250 metres.
THE ROYAL GARDEN was held up for clear racing room in the early and middle stages of the run home.
NEW YEARS JAY gave ground over the concluding stages after racing wide on the final bend.
Driver G Smith (MACH CRUISER) was warned to change his whip action.
 
Race 8 SBSR TUAPEKA LODGE, W&P BAIN, R NEVILL MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
SIOUX NATION raced wide in the early stages.
DREAMY DAMIEN broke passing the 2000 metres when improving three wide after being checked by BUSTER BRADY which shifted ground outwards forcing DREAMY DAMIEN wider on the track. The trailing CLASSIE BRIGADE, SPECIAL DELIGHT and SIOUX NATION were also checked into a break.
IMOLA raced keenly in the middle stages.
ARDENT LUSTRE and SIOUX NATION struck pylons on the final bend.
BUSTER BRADY cast a bell boot passing the 200 metres.
CLASSIE BRIGADE hung inwards in the home straight and came together with BUSTER BRADY late in the run home.
Stewards lodged a protest on behalf of the connections of the 2nd placed CLASSIE BRIGADE (R May) under Rule 869A(2) against 1st place being awarded to BUSTER BRADY (B Orange) alleging that BUSTER BRADY caused interference to DREAMY DAMIEN (C DeFilippi) which in turn caused CLASSIE BRIGADE to break and lose considerable ground. After viewing the replays and hearing from the respective drivers and Stewards, the JCA upheld the protest and BUSTER BRADY was relegated to 2nd place.
Driver B Orange (BUSTER BRADY) admitted a breach of the Push Out Rule and after hearing submissions on penalty the JCA imposed a fine of $300.
 
Race 9 SBSR GLENBROOK PARK, G STALKER, GRANT ENTERPRISES HCP TROT Video  Video 
The start of this race was delayed due to the protest in the previous race.
WATERLOO SUNSET broke in the early stages before switching to a pace and having to be restrained by driver B Butt.
ROYAL ASPIRATIONS trotted roughly in the early stages.
WATERLOO SUNSET broke with 200 metres to run.
 
Race 10 BLUE STAR TAXIS MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
TIROL'S ROCKET was off the gate at dispatch. Driver B Zampese was warned to make a greater effort to be in position at the start.
MOSCONI broke in the early stages checking SAILS which paced roughly. A warning was placed on the barrier record of MOSCONI.
HEIR POCKET paced roughly in the early stages.
BET ON JESS raced wide rounding the first bend.
CAESAR'S EMPIRE hung inwards near the 1000 metres and lost ground.
AWESOME ART also hung inwards passing the 1000 metres and struck several pylons.
CAESAR'S EMPIRE gave ground on the final bend. The connections advised they would no longer be persevering with the gelding.
AWESOME ART again hung inwards on the final bend and struck pylons. Driver R May advised he was disappointed with the effort of the horse. A post-race veterinary examination of AWESOME ART failed to detect any abnormalities.
TOOT TOOT was held up in the early and middle stages of the run home. Stewards questioned driver G Smith regarding his tactics on the final bend when not improving wider on the track. Mr Smith explained that TOOT TOOT had struggled to finish the race off at its previous start and is a horse that is only able to sustain a short sprint. For this reason he elected not to improve his position five wide near the 350 metres and instead looked to save ground between runners. After hearing from Mr Smith, Stewards took the matter no further.
