Race 1 WYNDHAM WORKOUTS COMMITTEE TROT Video  Video 
WINNERS SHOUT shifted outwards at the start and was slow to begin.
MATAI KATIE paced briefly over the early stages.
SPOTLIGHT THE VALLEY, LOXI CLAIRBORNE and MR ROBINSON all broke through the early stages.
DIAMOND DRAGON and I'LDOITMYWAY both broke on the first bend.
DIAMOND DRAGON broke again near the 250 metres. MISS COCO broke shortly afterwards forcing I'LDOITMYWAY inside pylons briefly.
MR ROBINSON raced keenly on the final bend and trotted roughly in the home straight before breaking near the100 metres when improving wider on the track.
MATAI KATIE was held up through the middle stages of the run home.
 
Race 2 A ROCKNROLL DANCE 'SIRING OUTSTANDING FOALS' MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
SPRINGFIELD CAL NEVA which was observed to have blood present in the mouth during its preliminary underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was found to have bitten its tongue with the mare subsequently cleared to start.
JESSICA SANCHEZ and EXTREME PRINCE were both held up for a distance near the 400 metres behind the weakening SPRINGFIELD CAL NEVA which had commenced to give ground with EXTREME PRINCE also being held up through the early stages of the run home.
Passing the 100 metres BEAU CISHLOM veered inwards clear of other runners when driver B Williamson activated the removable deafeners.
 
Race 3 MATAI FARM MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
Just prior to the start the outside runners were back off the gate most noticeably LAUGHING CAVALIER with driver T Dewe being reminded of his obligations to maintain his position on the mobile until the dispatch point is reached.
LISLORD paced roughly and then broke approaching the 1700 metres with the connecting strap breaking on the hopples resulting in LISLORD subsequently being retired from the event. The hopples were inspected by the Stewards and found to be in satisfactory condition.
NIGHTMARCH and PENNYANA were both held up on the final bend.
PENNYANA failed to gain clear racing room throughout the home straight with driver R McIlwrick advising he did not activate the removable deafeners.
 
Race 4 CLEARWATER CONTRACTING MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
GET CARTER which was observed to have blood present in the mouth during its preliminary underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was found to have bitten its tongue with the gelding subsequently cleared to start.
SON OF BRAHMA hung in the score up and was back off the gate at the start.
UNDERSTUDY raced keenly when being steadied over the early stages.
GET CARTER broke racing into the first bend and failed to settle losing its chance. Driver A Armour advised he believed the gelding had panicked and broken free of interference after being checked in its debut run.
SON OF BRAHMA hung inwards just prior to the home straight striking pylons and then raced greenly throughout the run home.
Driver N Williamson advised he did not activate the removable deafeners on the winner TUAPEKA TROY.
 
Race 5 FRANKS MOTORCYCLES & 4 SPARES HANDICAP TROT Video  Video 
ONE COOL CHICK was slow through the initial stages.
SOUTHLAND REFLECTOR broke racing into the first bend.
SOUTHLAND REFLECTOR broke again passing the 100 metres.
GEE UP NEDDY trotted roughly over the concluding stages.
SOUTHLAND REFLECTOR was subjected to a post-race veterinary examination after receiving a laceration to its off fore fetlock which required stitching.
 
Race 6 SOUTHLAND STANDARDBRED BREEDERS FILLIES & MARES MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
MATAI PROVIDENCE broke in the early stages of the score up however recovered to take up its rightful position at the dispatch.
ANNIE FITZ and ARDEN CAVIAR both vied for a position behind RED ELECTRIC racing into the first bend.
ARDEN CAVIAR ran out of racing room just prior to the home straight with driver B Barclay electing to shift ground back inwards.
ANNIE FITZ was denied racing room through the early stages of the final straight.
ROBYN KIM raced greenly throughout the run home.
 
Race 7 MLT / PIONEER TAVERN MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
BOOTIE BROMAC hung in the score up and was reluctant to come into line.
FRANCO TARIQ (K Butt) was back off the gate prior to the start point. Junior horsewoman K Butt was issued with a warning to ensure she maintains her position on the mobile until the dispatch point.
IN THE KITTY hung inwards on the first bend.
RAKAROLLA raced wide without cover over the initial 500 metres.
RIVER PATROL was forced to race four wide from the 800 metres.
BALIUS, SMILING ARMADA, GEORDIE SIVAD and BOOTIE BROMAC were all held up on the final bend.
IN THE KITTY broke when shifting inwards to obtain clear racing room with approximately 180 metres to run resulting in the trailing DEGAS and VAN EVA both being hampered briefly.
GEORDIE SIVAD and BOOTIE BROMAC were both denied clear racing room in the home straight.
NOTHINGFORTHEMEDIA was denied racing room throughout the home straight.
 
Race 8 SUNSHINE BEACH AT ALABAR HANDICAP PACE Video  Video 
There was a significant delay to the start of this event after BETTOR'S BRIGADIER sprung a shoe in its preliminary. BETTOR'S BRIGADIER was fractious when being attended to by the farrier and as a result both front shoes were removed prior to the start. The shoes were subsequently inspected by the Stewards and found to be in good condition.
I'M FULL OF EXCUSES was slow to begin from its 10 metre handicap.
 
Race 9 KINA CRAIG STUD MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
RAPHOE which received a minor laceration to its head when being transported to the course today underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start.
RAPHOE broke just prior to the dispatch losing ground. RAPHOE was placed on the Unruly for future mobile starts at the request of trainer A Hoffman.
MACARDO over raced through the middle stages and was held up on the final bend.
 
Race 10 NET TEN EOM AT MACCA LODGE MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
MR MOJITO (B Barclay) was back off the gate at the start. When spoken to regarding this driver B Barclay explained that the horse had felt lethargic in the score up which was unusual as it had been prone to race keenly during recent trials and workouts.
WILL I AM (B McLellan) was also back off the gate at the dispatch point with Mr McLellan warned to ensure he maintains his position behind the mobile until the start point is reached.
With 1800 metres to run HOT CHILLI raced greenly and hung outwards forcing TAKITIMU EXPRESS wider on the track.
LIKETHELOOK raced three wide without cover from the 1700 metres. I TRY which had been racing keenly was also caught three wide from the 1800 metres. The pace increased appreciably at this stage of the race and both these runners were unable to improve their positions.
MR MOJITO commenced to give ground rapidly from near the 900 metres with the gelding not being persevered with thereafter. Stewards ordered a post-race veterinary examination of MR MOJITO which confirmed the gelding had suffered an atrial fibrillation. The connections of MR MOJITO were advised MR MOJITO was stood down until it obtains a veterinary clearance complete with ECG and has trialled satisfactorily on one occasion.
With approximately 450 metres to run LIKETHELOOK which was commencing to give ground held up the trailing HI DELIGHT and KNOCKMANAUGH.
BERNIE WINKLE was denied racing room on the final bend.
KNOCKMANAUGH struck pylons in the home straight when attempting to improve into a marginal gap near the 150 metres. Driver A Beck will be spoken to in relation to this matter at a later date.
The winner FRANK THE TANK shifted outwards over the concluding stages when shying at the winning post.
