General
Following Race 4 trainer G Knight contacted the Stewards and expressed concern with the performance of his racing team in recent race days, trials and so far on today's' card. As a result the Stewards elected to have the remaining three members of his team today Race 8 - MOA BONES, Race 9 - JACCKA EMBERZ and Race 10 - GENE TIME undergo pre-race veterinary examinations. All three runners were subsequently cleared to race however Mr Knight advised he would have follow up blood tests conducted on his racing team in the upcoming days and undertook to notify the Stewards of any findings.

Race 1 - CARPET PLUS WILLY'S FLOORING/MLT TROT
Stewards have concluded their investigation into the lack of vigour shown by A Black in the home straight when driving ABRAHAM JONES. Mr Black explained that he was unable to place ABRAHAM JONES under any pressure due to the gelding trotting roughly with the horse breaking shortly after the finish. After considering Mr Black's explanation and viewing replays of ABRAHAM JONES' previous performances, Stewards took the matter no further other than to advise Mr Black that he must not drive in a manner that leaves himself open to query.

Race 5 - ROBIN DUNDEE CLUB MOBILE PACE
Following this meeting trainer B Gray notified the Stewards that RUN TO HIDE had a foot abscess which blew out after it raced. He advised it had been treated and healed and RUN TO HIDE was working well in the lead up to today's race and would race without a boring pole.

Race 1 LOCATIONS REAL ESTATE/CARRIERS ARMS HOTEL MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
In the early stages of the score up WHATA EXCUSE and BEAU CISHLOM locked wheels after BEAU CISHLOM refused to turn into line.
TUAPEKA TROY paced roughly just prior to the dispatch point.
ZENA'S STAR hung inwards shortly after the start when the field was getting into formation.
BEAU CISHLOM hung inwards when improving to the parked position with approximately 1100 metres to run.
GREEN FINGERS had to be restrained shortly afterwards when there was a slight easing of the one out line which resulted in GETTHEEXCUSEBOOKOUT breaking and resulting checks to ZENA'S STAR and GET CARTER.
EXTREME PRINCE was held up on the final bend and had difficulty obtaining clear racing room over the early stages of the run home. Driver R McIlwrick advised he did not activate the removable deafeners on the gelding.
 
Race 2 RYDER PLUMBING LTD MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
BETTER DELIVER which was fractious in the birdcage got its sulky caught in the fence when heading out onto the track for its preliminary with driver D Dunn being dislodged from the sulky. BETTER DELIVER underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start however required farrier attention after springing a front shoe in the incident with both front shoes subsequently being removed prior to the start. Driver D Dunn was uninjured in this incident. The sulky of BETTER DELIVER required replacing with a subsequent short delay to the start of this event.
SWAP OVER broke at the start with the connections advised their colt was placed on the unruly for future mobile starts.
FRANCO NIXON broke in the early stages and shifted inwards sharply making heavy contact with WILL I AM with the trailing SUPERFREAK, COMBIEN and FIRST SON also being checked. The connections of FRANCO NIXON were advised that a warning was placed on the mobile barrier manners of their gelding.
FRANCO NIXON broke again passing the 1100 metres with the trailing SWAP OVER also breaking when shifting ground outwards.
IODEAN gave ground on the final bend hampering the trailing WILL I AM. Driver M Williamson reported that IODEAN had paced roughly during the running. Stewards ordered a post-race veterinary examination of IODEAN which revealed the filly to have a slow recovery rate.
Driver B Orange advised he did not activate the removable deafeners on the winner ICE CRUSHER due to having the field covered.
Driver D Dunn advised that BETTER DELIVER had become unsettled prior to the start which he believed had contributed to today's disappointing performance.
 
Race 3 JACCKA LODGE TROT Video  Video 
GRACE O'MALLEY, SUNVASION, BLAZING UNDER FIRE and ELTSUNAMI all broke rounding the first bend.
GRACE O'MALLEY hung inwards for the majority of the race.
ANOTHERSUPERSTAR and CIRCUS BOY were both held up on the final bend.
STARLIGHT INVASION trotted roughly over the concluding stages.
GEE UP NEDDY hung outwards and trotted roughly over the concluding stages and could not be driven out to full advantage by driver B Barclay.
Driver N Williamson advised he did not activate the removable deafeners on the winner GREY POWER.
Driver B Williamson advised he believed BLAZING UNDER FIRE had objected to the grit which had caused it to break on the first bend.
 
Race 4 SOUTHLAND STANDARDBRED BREEDERS JUNIOR DRIVERS MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
FALCON ASSET over raced until nearing the 700 metres when it then commenced to give ground.
DANA DYNASTY and POPULAR both vied for a position near the 500 metres.
THE TISBURY TERROR was held up by the tiring FALCON ASSET passing the 500 metres.
LIVE TO TELL had to be steadied near the 300 metres when being held up by the tiring LOVE FILLY DALE..
 
Race 5 NET TEN EOM AT MACCA LODGE MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
CORINGA DELIGHT paced roughly in the score up and was back off the second line at the start.
LISLORD over raced through the early and middle stages.
CORINGA DELIGHT paced roughly when attempting to improve three wide near the 1000 metres.
LISLORD shifted wider on the track with 350 metres to run after driver M Williamson activated the removable deafeners.
HIGHVIEW ILLUSION . LAUGHING CAVALIER, STAR OF COURAGE and FIRST FLIGHT IN were all denied racing room on the final bend.
Driver M Williamson (LISLORD) advised that a sulky tyre had deflated on the final bend however when spoken to regarding this Mr. Williamson did not attribute this to any other horse or horseman.
When questioned regarding the performance of favourite CORINGA DELIGHT driver R Close advised he was disappointed with the mare's effort however believed that the work she had to do over the middle stages may have taken its toll over the concluding stages.
 
Race 6 W R KEAST MEMORIAL TROT Video  Video 
The rein pole was removed from PEGASUS HANOVER prior to the start due to the gelding warming up unfavourably.
MATAI KATIE paced away and had to be steadied by driver N Milne to return to its correct gait.
ONE COOL CHICK was very slow to begin from the Unruly then also switched into a pace on the first bend.
PEGASUS HANOVER broke on the first bend and again during the running with driver B Orange retiring the gelding from the event.
ONE COOL CHICK broke again near the 1800 metres.
EYRE'S A RAG DOLL broke with 600 metres to run.
DENN NEE NOSE BEST was held up on the final bend.
EASY MOMENT trotted roughly over the final stages.
The Stewards withheld authorisation of first placing being awarded to ONE COOL CHICK until they were satisfied the mare had not breached the Breaking Horse Regulations when breaking on the first bend.
 
Race 7 SIR LINCOLN RIVERTON CUP (HANDICAP PACE) Video  Video 
Just prior to the tapes being released ONE DIRECTION failed to straighten up and stood on the mark with TAS MAN BROMAC and GROOMSMAN both being briefly impeded as a result.
MILLIGAN and UNCLE BEN both broke at the start.
BETTOR'S BRIGADIER raced keenly when in the parked position through the middle stages.
RUN TO HIDE hung during the running.
N Williamson advised the Stewards he did not activate the removable deafeners on the winner TAS MAN BROMAC.
 
Race 8 NEVILLE CLEAVER FISHING APARIMA HANDICAP TROT Video  Video 
OVERCAST broke at the start effectively losing its chance.
OTTAWA hung during the running.
EXPERIMENT broke passing the 600 metres after driver B Barclay activated the removable deafeners with the trailing JACCKA JACK having to be steadied at that stage.
MOA BONES tired on the final bend.
 
Race 9 BEACHHOUSE CAFE BAR PACE Video  Video 
RIVER PATROL was slow to begin.
When questioned regarding the forward showing of MACHINEGUN KELLY trainer W McDonald advised that the win was totally unexpected. He stated he had given the gelding a spell after it returned from racing in the North Island and it was aided by a good drive by junior horseman C Ferguson.
Starter Mr B Ward was shown a replay and spoken to in relation to the start of this event.
 
Race 10 SBS BANK PACE Video  Video 
FRANCO HUNTINGTON which was fractious pre-race was back out of position at the start.
WHYNOTTAGREY and SHARK ALI both scrambled for a few strides at the start.
SOAPBOX broke after approximately 150 metres and again approaching the 1400 metres with driver A Armour advising the filly had paced roughly throughout the event.
WHYNOTTAGREY was held up on the final bend.
