Trainer M House has advised Stewards that following its hard run at Methven on Sunday, CUDDLY JESS was a very tired horse and as a result has been sent for a brief spell to help recovery and to freshen up.

Race 1 CANTERBURY STANDARDBRED BREEDERS MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
DANNY DEL VITO was out of position at dispatch despite the efforts of driver T Chmiel.
NATURAL COURAGE broke entering the first bend inconveniencing the trailing STORM MAGUIRE. STORM MAGUIRE then commenced to over-race through the middle stages.
Near the 1700 metres DANNY DEL VITO raced roughly and had to be steadied by driver T Chmiel.
NATURAL COURAGE over-raced nearing the 900 metres.
Upon entering the final straight ZALTA momentarily shifted inwards impeding the ability of FULHAM ROYALE to access the passing lane.
ZALTA then continued to lay inwards under pressure throughout the run home further hampering FULHAM ROYALE near the 100 metres.
D Dunn as the driver of STORM MAGUIRE was spoken to regarding the use of his whip in the early stages of the run home and advised to correct his action.
 
Race 2 CANTERBURY TROTTING OWNERS ASSOCIATION HANDICAP TROT Video  Video 
NATIVES BRITE GEM, MAJESTIC DE FENCE, TUI NOVA, SHAY SCOTT and BLAZING UNDER FIRE all broke at the start.
CIRCUS BOY broke after 100 metres checking IT'S HOW YOU USE IT which also broke. As a result of this the half-hopples on IT'S HOW YOU USE IT broke. This gear was inspected and found to be in good order.
MY SKY raced greenly passing the 2400 metres and shifted outwards losing ground.
Passing the 2300 metres BIG EARS and IT'S HOW YOU USE IT broke.
Racing towards the 2200 metres BLAZING UNDER FIRE broke.
BIG EARS again broke near the 2100 metres.
NATIVES BRITE GEM broke rounding the bend near the 1700 metres.
FRANCO HELIOS weakened passing the 600 metres.
BIG EARS trotted roughly and hung throughout the middle stages, then broke on the bend near the 500 metres.
SQUIRE JOHN broke near the 200 metres losing its chance.
When questioned regarding the improved performance of GIN RUMMY, trainer/driver I Cameron explained the gelding had taken benefit from a drop-back in the class of opposition this evening and had gained a beneficial run throughout.
 
Race 3 ALABAR PACE Video  Video 
ONE DIRECTION, DIGITAL ART, AVEROSS BRACHOLE, KARANGA RED FANTASY and WHYAMIBETTOR broke at the start.
On the bend near the 2300 metres both FAIR DINKUM BROMAC and DIGITAL ART hung inwards and struck pylons.
WHYAMIBETTOR raced keenly through the middle stages.
JUSTALITTLEBETTOR shifted inwards leaving the final bend and in doing so struck several track markers. Driver B Butt was issued with a warning under Rule 869(7A)(a) for allowing his sulky to contact pylons.
DIGITAL ART raced roughly for several strides early in the run home after becoming awkwardly placed near the sulky wheel of FAIR DINKUM BROMAC.
DIGITAL ART had difficulty obtaining clear running through the middle stages of the run home.
 
Race 4 NEVELE R OPEN DAY 10 OCTOBER 1.30PM MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
A false start was declared after LINTON SHARD broke during the latter stages of the score up hampering the trailing GINA GRACE. D Dunn elected to remain in his allocated barrier position with the rein pricker being removed for the restart.
The start of this race was further delayed due to the over-check on TUAPEKA TROY breaking during the second score-up with this being removed.
Due to LINTON SHARD becoming fractious behind the mobile at the second attempt driver D Dunn requested the gelding be shifted to the unruly position for the restart.
TUAPEKA TROY raced roughly for a short distance in the early stages.
WINDFALL raced wide through the early stages until being improved to a parked position near the 1200 metres.
WINDFALL weakened passing the 600 metres inconveniencing ART I AM and CELESTIAL ARDEN which were held up in consequence.
LUCKY THREE hung inwards and struck several pylons under pressure entering the home straight.
FRANCO TARIQ was held up throughout the run home with driver R Close reporting that he had not activated the deafeners on his gelding.
MARTIN JOHN was held up over the final 75 metres.
When questioned regarding the performance of BEAU SANCY, driver and co-trainer N Rasmussen explained that she had to work to obtain the leading position near the 1300 metres which may have taken its toll on the gelding over the final stages. Ms Rasmussen added that BEAU SANCY had become fractious prior to the start due to the delay in the event which may not have been beneficial to the gelding on this occasion, however was of the opinion the gelding would derive benefit from the run.
When questioned regarding the performance of TUAPEKA TROY, trainer T Butt reported he felt the gelding may have been affected by the delay to the start. Mr Butt further advised that it was his intention to have the gelding's blood tested in the coming days and undertook to notify Stewards of the results.
 
Race 5 CHRISTIAN CULLEN HANDICAP PACE Video  Video 
REGAL IDEAL, SPEEDY JACK, NORTHVIEW GAMBLER, HIGHVIEW ANWELL and ART UNION broke at the start.
SMOKEN ROMAN paced roughly in the early stages.
SMOKEN ROMAN paced roughly and broke near the 2200 metres inconveniencing the trailing HIGHVIEW ANWELL.
ART UNION raced keenly passing the 1400 metres.
MAJOR BUBBLES commenced to give ground near the 500 metres which inconvenienced NORTHVIEW GAMBLER, QUICK AS A TRICK and ART UNION with those runners having to shift extremely wide to improve.
SMOKEN ROMAN again raced roughly in the early stages of the run home.
When questioned regarding the performance of MAJOR BUBBLES, driver T Williams explained that the gelding had hung throughout and he considered something to be amiss. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with regards to the horse's recovery with trainer C Dalgety in the coming days.
 
Race 6 STALLIONS AUSTRALASIAN LTD MOBILE TROT Video  Video 
CLASSY BOYZ dropped its head in the score up and in doing so made contact with the barrier arm causing the gelding to gallop losing its chance.
PYRAMID MONARCH broke in the early stages when being taken forwards to take the lead with the mare losing ground.
K D MUSCLES hung inwards on the first bend near the 1600 metres and as result contacted several track markers.
K D MUSCLES again hung inwards on the final bend resulting in the mare striking more pylons with this horse proving difficult to restrain.
BOBBINS weakened passing the 400 metres and when doing so hung inwards causing the sulky to strike pylons. When questioned regarding the performance of the mare, driver D Dunn explained that the horse had pulled hard throughout its preliminary and during the race resulting in its disappointing efforts over the final stages.
 
Race 7 AVON CITY FORD (NEW BRIGHTON) CUP (STANDING START) Video  Video 
The start of this race was delayed by 1 minute at the request of the TAB control.
There was a further delay when runners VENUS SERENA and MACH'S GLADIATOR had difficulty addressing the barriers. Warnings were placed on both runners barrier records.
CHOISE ACHIEVER, VENUS SERENA, BIT OF A LEGEND, MOSSDALE CONNER and MIGHTY FLYING MAC all broke briefly at the start.
Shortly after the start FRANCO HARRINGTON (M Jones) and TIGER TARA (G O'Reilly) contacted the sulkies resulting in driver M Jones becoming unbalanced.
PROVOCATIVE PRINCE raced wide in the early and middle stages.
Near the 1400 metres BIT OF A LEGEND which was racing keenly had to be steadied which caused an easing of the pace in the two wide line with the improving MOSSDALE CONNER, MIGHTY FLYING MAC and VENUS SERENA being checked in this incident with VENUS SERENA losing several lengths.
FRANCO HARRINGTON shifted inwards leaving the final bend placing the weakening MAJOR STAR in restricted room who in turn was dictated inside the marker line briefly. M Jones as the driver of FRANCO HARRINGTON was advised that in future he was to make a greater effort to correct his runners at the earliest opportunity.
DELIGHTFUL DASH was held up in the early stages of the run home.
CHRISTEN ME (D Dunn) shifted up the track under pressure over the final stages and crowded the racing of TIGER TARA (G O'Reilly) just prior to the finishing line. Driver G O'Reilly reported this had no bearing on his entire's chances. Driver D Dunn was cautioned to make a better effort in future to maintain a straight course in the run home.
 
Race 8 PINELEA FARM FILLIES & MARES MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
A DAMN GOOD EXCUSE raced wide in the early stages prior to being improved to a parked position near the 1400 metres.
ROYAL CAROLINE and PARTY RAGE were crowded in the early stages between NERIDA FRANCO and AMAZON LILY which both shifted ground.
NERIDA FRANCO raced keenly throughout the middle stages.
PARTY RAGE raced wide throughout.
PARTY RAGE then commenced to give ground near the 400 metres and was distanced at the finish.
AMAZON LILY hung outwards in the early stages of the run home.
CHRISTIAN LADY had difficulty obtaining clear racing room throughout the final straight.
 
Race 9 PEGASUS SPUR AT WOODLANDS STUD HANDICAP TROT Video  Video 
Due to the manner in which ESCAPEE had warmed up, driver B Orange elected to add a rein pricker to its gear.
MONBET and THE BOG broke at the start.
CHERRY LINDENNY and TESSA'S ROCKET broke after 100 metres.
MONBET settled for approximately 40 metres before breaking again after 100 metres.
ESCAPEE raced keenly through the middle stages.
XMAS JOYELLA hung outwards through the back straight on the first occasion.
CHERRY LINDENNY weakened passing the 700 metres.
The payment of dividends was withheld until it was established MONBET had complied with the breaking horse regulations in the early stages.
When questioned regarding the performance of MAJESTIC TIME, driver G O'Reilly advised that the mare had trotted roughly when placed under pressure in the home straight and was disappointing. Stewards will follow up with regards to the recovery of the horse with trainer M Ward in the coming days.
When questioned regarding the run of ESCAPEE, driver B Orange reported the mare to have raced fiercely leading to its disappointing efforts over the final stages.
 
Race 10 SPECTATORS OPEN 'TIL LATE AT ADDINGTON PACE Video  Video 
KARANGA SWEET P arrived at the starting area with only one front shoe in place with the farrier removing it before the race.
MONKEY PUZZLE broke at the start.
THE KATZ PYJAMAZ raced roughly in the early stages.
KARANGA SWEET P hung inwards in the early stages.
THE KATZ PYJAMAZ broke racing into the first bend.
BUGSY MALONE raced keenly throughout the middle stages.
ROCK DIVA had to be steadied near the 850 metres after being shifted wider on the track by BORN TO DELIGHT.
MONKEY PUZZLE raced four wide without cover from the 850 metres.
MYBOYLOLLIEPOP and BUGSY MALONE were held up on the final bend by the weakening MISS JUDGEFORD.
MISS JUDGEFORD hung outwards in the early stages of the run home and raced in confined quarters with ASHDAL MAID which was laying inwards.
KARANGA SWEET P hung inwards under pressure throughout the run home. Trainer D Jones reported it was his intention to add a murphy blind to the gelding's gear prior to resuming.
D Dunn as the driver of SHILLELAGH reported that he had not activated the gelding's hopple shorteners due to how it was pacing at the time.
Drivers J Cox (BUGSY MALONE) and C Markham (THE KATZ PYJAMAZ) advised they did not activate the removable deafeners on their runners due to being held up throughout the final straight.
