Race 1 THE NEW SEASON TROT Video  Video 
TOPNOTCH TITAN was fractious prior to the start.
PLAYBOY'S BROTHER swung sideways as the start was effected inconveniencing DIANA HARBOUR and TOPNOTCH TITAN.
TOPNOTCH TITAN, DIANA HARBOUR, TIJUANA TAXI and PURE SUCCESS broke shortly after the start.
TOPNOTCH TITAN again broke briefly passing the 2000 metres.
BRYLINS CHOICE broke passing the 800 metres losing its chance.
ONE OVER DOVER hung outwards near the 800 metres and trotted roughly.
ONE OVER DOVER threw its head on a number of occasions when objecting to the track grit and raced wider on the track near the 1600 metres which allowed BRYLINS CHOICE to improve its position.
DIANA HARBOUR broke rounding the final bend.
TROUBLE DEL and PLAYBOY'S BROTHER broke over the concluding stages.
Stewards lodged a protest against 4th placing being awarded to PLAYBOY'S BROTHER under Rule 870(3) and the Breaking Horse Regulations on the grounds that the gelding broke in excess of 50 metres over the final 200 metres. The connections did not contest the protest and PLAYBOY'S BROTHER was disqualified by the JCA.
Stewards lodged a subsequent protest against the promoted 4th placing being awarded to TROUBLE DEL under Rule 870(3) and the Breaking Horse Regulations on the grounds that the gelding broke in excess of 50 metres over the final 200 metres. The connections did not contest the protest and TROUBLE DEL was disqualified by the JCA.
Authorisation of the promoted 4th placing being awarded to TOPNOTCH TITAN was withheld until Stewards were satisfied the gelding had complied with the Breaking Horse Regulations in the early stages.
 
Race 2 CHANGEOVER MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
CULLENS FIRST MEDDLE paced roughly on several occasions. When questioned regarding the performance of CULLENS FIRST MEDDLE, driver J Dunn reported that the mare had switched off through the early and middle stages and was of the opinion that she would benefit from the addition of blinds at her next start.
BETTOR IN THE DARK was held up for clear racing room rounding the final bend and in the early stages of the home straight.
 
Race 3 BISHOPDALE/BUSH INN TABS & TAVERN HAREWOOD MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
No claims were lodged for HANDLEBAR HANK.
TUFFLITTLEROOSTER paced roughly just prior to the start after baulking at the mobile barrier with the trailing SPECIAL DELIGHT breaking and losing considerable ground.
Racing into the first bend THIS AIN'T TENNESSEE hung inwards despite the efforts of driver B Wilmott checking the trailing BEAUDIENE GAMBLER, SMOKIN CHICK and ONCEWERECHRISTIANS. A warning was placed on the racing manners of THIS AIN'T TENNESSEE.
BEAUDIENE GAMBLER became awkwardly placed close to the sulky of INCREDIBLE ANVIL passing the 1400 metres after an easing of the pace.
SCANRECO BAY had difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the early stages of the run home.
THIS AIN'T TENNESSEE hung inwards throughout the run home.
Driver A Edge (SCANRECO BAY) briefly dropped his foot from the sulky rest over the concluding stages.
Driver B Wilmott reported that he was unable to activate the removable deafeners on THIS AIN'T TENNESSEE after the cord had shifted.
Driver M Stratford (ONCEWERECHRISTIANS) was warned for using his whip when out of contention.
Authorisation of placings was withheld until Stewards had reviewed a replay of the start in relation to the breaking of SPECIAL DELIGHT. After hearing submissions from the connections of SPECIAL DELIGHT and Starter P Lamb, Stewards were satisfied that SPECIAL DELIGHT had been denied a fair start and pursuant to Rule 213(1)(j) was declared a non-runner.
 
Race 4 SARAH PALIN WINNER CSI MONARCHY SERIES HANDICAP TROT Video  Video 
TEHORO HOLLY broke shortly after the start losing its chance.
THE BOG over-raced through the middle stages.
VALMAGNE trotted roughly and broke for a short distance near the 700 metres.
Driver N McGrath (THE BOG) briefly dropped his foot from the sulky rest when activating the removable deafeners near the 400 metres.
THE BOG broke over the concluding stages.
Stewards lodged a protest against 4th placing being awarded to THE BOG under Rule 870(3) and the Breaking Horse Regulations on the grounds that the mare had broken in excess of 50 metres over the final 200 metres. The connections did not contest the protest and THE BOG was disqualified by the JCA.
 
Race 5 MIKE GRAINGER PACE Video  Video 
CHASING SHADOWS broke briefly at the start.
SHE'S GOT IT had difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the early and middle stages of the run home.
ASK ME ART paced roughly late in the run home.
Driver G Smith (TANGOS DELIGHT) was warned to ensure his whip remains inside the confines of the sulky.
 
Race 6 MORRISON'S SADDLERY & FEED PACE Video  Video 
MANINTHEMIRROR was very fractious prior to the start and was sent to the unruly by Starter P Lamb. This gelding will remain on the unruly for future standing starts.
MARTIN JOHN reared just prior to the start.
TIROL'S ROCKET shifted outwards at the start and came together with EM AY resulting in TIROL'S ROCKET breaking.
BUGSY MALONE, FRANCO TEXAS and MARTIN JOHN also broke at the start.
After 100 metres ANIKA LINDENNY hung outwards despite the efforts of driver G Smith and ran off the track losing considerable ground. Trainer D Bennett was advised that the mare must trial satisfactorily on one occasion before resuming. Mr Bennett advised he would be making gear changes to ANIKA LINDENNY prior to resuming.
Racing into the first bend BUGSY MALONE and JAYEES SUPREME both paced roughly with JAYEES SUPREME being placed in restricted room shortly after and breaking briefly.
TIROL'S ROCKET and MARTIN JOHN raced keenly in the middle stages.
MANINTHEMIRROR was held up for clear racing room on the final bend by the tiring ANIKA LINDENNY.
Driver D Dunn (EM AY) briefly dropped his foot from the sulky foot-rest when activating the removable deafeners when passing the 250 metres.
LIVE TO TELL was held up for clear racing room in the early stages of the run home.
BUGSY MALONE was held up for clear racing room throughout the home straight.
 
Race 7 EQUINE VETERINARY SERVICES TROT Video  Video 
CLASSY BOYZ, DREAM BIG, ASTRAL RULER and FILIGREE SHEREE all broke over the initial stages.
ILLUSTRIOUS QUEEN over-raced throughout the middle stages when racing parked.
ILLUSTRIOUS QUEEN gave ground on the final bend.
CLASSY BOYZ broke entering the home straight losing its chance.
GIN RUMMY had difficulty obtaining racing room in the home straight.
 
Race 8 BROSNAN TRANSPORT PASSING LANE HANDICAP PACE Video  Video 
DONEGAL JIMMY DAVE, DELIGHTFUL DASH and SONNETSSON broke at the start.
CHANGE THE RULZ broke shortly after when taking evasive action to avoid the breaking SONNETSSON.
CANNDEW raced wide in the early stages until being improved to the parked position near the 2000 metres.
JERRY GARCIA raced erratically passing the 1600 metres.
THAT'S HUNTING PINK raced keenly in the middle stages.
MOTU SPEEDY STAR paced roughly near the 1200 metres after becoming awkwardly placed close to the wheel of WOODLEA LEGEND. Driver J Morrison (MOTU SPEEDY STAR) in the presence of senior horseman G Smith was shown a replay and warned for the manner he drove when attempting to improve his position when insufficient room existed.
SONNETSSON compounded from the 900 metres and was eased down by driver P Davis. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding was suffering from atrial fibrillation. The connections were advised that a veterinary clearance including an ECG would be required prior to the gelding resuming.
THAT'S HUNTING PINK and JERRY GARCIA briefly locked wheels near the 500 metres.
DONEGAL JIMMY DAVE had difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the early stages of the run home.
FLORIN was held up in the early and middle stages of the run home.
Drivers K Cox (WOODLEA LEGEND) and K Butt (FAIR DINKUM BROMAC) both reported they received a punctured sulky tyre during the running.
 
Race 9 PROPERTY BROKERS MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
SHANTAHLIA KNIGHT cast a front shoe in the preliminary with the other front shoe being removed prior to the start.
SHANTAHLIA KNIGHT raced fiercely in the early stages before improving to the parked position.
Rounding the first bend CULLECT A GUINNESS raced greenly when leading causing a slight easing of the pace with COURTNEY JOHN which was racing back on the markers breaking briefly.
Near the 600 metres BEST DEFENCE struck the wheel disc of SOUNDS SWIFT which was attempting to shift down the track and paced roughly. Drivers J Morrison (SOUNDS SWIFT) and J Whittaker (BEST DEFENCE) in the presence of Senior Horseman G Smith were shown the replay and spoken to advisedly.
 
Race 10 PORT FM MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
MIDNIGHT FLYER raced wide in the early stages.
JEANIE POPS raced four wide from the 800 metres.
MIDNIGHT FLYER (P Davis) was held up for clear racing room through the early stages of the run home before attempting to shift ground inwards in search of clear running placing AREION and THE LIFE OF BRIAN in restricted room. Driver P Davis was advised to exercise care when shifting ground.
JEANIE POPS hung inwards throughout the home straight.
THE GHOST, FLAGPOLE and ROLLIN THUNDER also had difficulty obtaining racing room in the final straight.
Driver J Morrison (DREAMCOAT) advised that he was unable to activate the removable deafeners due to the cord becoming entangled.
 
Race 11 EMPIRE HOTEL TEMUKA SOCIAL CLUB MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
NIC MAC WILLY broke during the score-up however recovered to be in its rightful position at dispatch.
FLORETA over-raced in the early stages.
FLORETA gave ground on the final bend and paced roughly. A post race veterinary examination of the mare revealed no abnormalities.
FLYIN HEATHER paced roughly on the final bend. Driver G Smith reported that the mare had been striking her knee.
GOING GOING GONE raced keenly on the final bend before pacing roughly near the 250 metres.
FLYIN HEATHER had to shift ground outwards in the early stages of the run home to obtain clear running.
STANS DAY was held up for clear racing room late in the run home.
GOING GOING GONE again paced roughly over the concluding stages.
