Race 1 - SOUTHLAND HARNESS AWARDS 16 AUGUST MOBILE PACE
Driver M McAuley (BLACK GEORGE) was spoken to in relation to the manner she drove on the final bend when COVER DRIVE (B McLellan) struck several pylons when improving on the inside of BLACK GEORGE. Ms McAuley was warned to ensure she allows sufficient room for runners on her inside.

Race 1 A W & A M OSBORNE CONTRACTING GORE TROT Video  Video 
CONALL CERNACH, EASY MOMENT and BLINK broke briefly over the early stages.
EASY MOMENT trotted roughly throughout.
GRACE O'MALLEY hung and raced keenly through the middle stages.
BLINK trotted roughly throughout the run home with driver B Orange advising he was unable to fully drive the gelding out due to its uneven gait.
The winner ASTRAL RULER also trotted roughly in the home straight.
 
Race 2 WASHINGTON VC MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
HOKURI HANGOVER paced roughly in the score up and broke briefly shortly after the start then continued to pace roughly through the early stages.
SALLY MACLENNANE was slightly back off the gate at the start.
KATE JACKSON raced keenly for some distance passing the 1100 metres.
HOKURI HANGOVER paced roughly down the back straight on the final occasion.
BAD LOVER BOY paced roughly and appeared uneven in its gait during the running with the Stewards ordering a post-race veterinary examination of the gelding which revealed no clinical abnormalities.
RED ELECTRIC was held up on the final bend and through the early stages of the run home.
FRANCO NOIRE paced roughly passing the 400 metres.
GENE TIME was unable to gain racing room throughout the home straight and went to the line untested by driver B Williamson.
POCKET CAESAR (B Morris) was briefly placed in restricted room passing the 100 metres when RED ELECTRIC (T Dewe) improved on its inside. Junior horseman T Dewe was shown a replay of the incident for educational purposes.
 
Race 3 FOOD AFFAIR/FALLS HOTEL MOTEL & BISTRO PACE Video  Video 
There was a delay of approximately 3 minutes to the start of this event due to a sulky wheel on JESSICA SANCHEZ needing to be replaced.
JESSICA SANCHEZ, FRANCO SYNERGY, EM AY and BLACK GEORGE all broke at the start.
BACKSEAT CHICK tangled briefly at the start.
TED CADY was hampered over the early stages by the breaking runners.
PAY ME IDEAL which was slow to begin was also hampered over the early stages by breaking runners.
FRANCO NIXON hung inwards on the first bend striking pylons and continued to hang for the majority of the race.
THAT CAT commenced to race fiercely through the early stages which placed driver B Barclay in difficulty. THAT CAT then broke with 1500 metres to run after the hopple shortener pins were released and veered wide on the track and became uncontrollable with the gelding eventually being retired from the event passing the 1000 metres. Driver B Barclay reported that THAT CAT was striking the sulky stays then panicked. A warning was placed on the racing manners of THAT CAT.
GOTTA LAUGH hung outwards near the 1300 metres making the bend awkwardly.
FRANCO NIXON raced in restricted room in the home straight and paced roughly when attempting to improve its position.
 
Race 4 NEW WORLD GORE MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
ARDEN'S CONCORD (R McIlwrick) raced keenly racing into the first bend and made contact with the sulky wheel of TETRICK (B McLellan) before breaking and losing its chance. PAULA'S ON FIRE and LAUGHING CAVALIER were both briefly inconvenienced by the breaking ARDEN'S CONCORD.
FIRST FLIGHT IN raced keenly for the majority of the event when leading.
B McLellan (TETRICK) reported to the Stewards that he had received a punctured sulky tyre during the running.
A Armour (BIG BAD JOHN) reported he lost the use of his whip when it was stood on by another runner near the 600 metres.
When questioned regarding the improved performance of ALEXY trainer B Negus advised the gelding had been unlucky in previous starts and had received an economical trip today which had been significant in the turnaround in form.
Stewards questioned horsemen R McIlwrick, N Williamson and B McLellan in relation to the breaking of ARDEN'S CONCORD racing into the first bend. After speaking to all horsemen and viewing the replays it was established ARDEN'S CONCORD had been racing keenly when the field was getting into formation and had struck the sulky wheel of TETRICK. The Stewards were satisfied Mr McLellan was entitled to shift inwards at this stage. R McIlwrick was issued with a warning in relation to this incident pursuant to Rule 869(3)(b) and advised he should take more care in future in similar circumstances.
 
Race 5 BRENDAN FRANKS FARRIER HANDICAP TROT Video  Video 
With approximately 1700 metres to run SUNDON INVASION trotted roughly while in the trail which allowed ANOTHERSUPERSTAR to take up the trailing position.
PYRAMID MAGIC was held up rounding the final bend and through the early and middle stages of the run home only getting clear late with driver M Williamson advising he did not activate the removable deafeners.
SUNDON INVASION broke in the home straight.
There was a delay to the authorisation of all dividends following this event due to a malfunction with the Raceday replays.
 
Race 6 HOKONUI RURAL TRANSPORT MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
The rein pricker was removed from FRANCO CRISTIANO prior to the start due to the gelding warming up unfavourably.
The favourite FRANCO CRISTIANO was back off the gate at the start.
FRANCO CRISTIANO raced wide without cover through the early stages before reaching the parked position with 1500 metres to run.
Passing the 1300 metres ELLE CLASSIQUE paced roughly then knuckled over checking the trailing MONTANA MANDY. CABALLO BLANCO and FRANCO CRISTIANO were briefly forced to race wider on the track during this incident.
ELLE CLASSIQUE paced roughly again near the 900 metres before breaking approaching the 700 metres and stumbling again before being retired from the event by driver A Armour. A warning was placed on the mare's racing manners.
CABALLO BLANCO was held up rounding the final bend.
 
Race 7 SOUTHLAND FARM MACHINERY HANDICAP PACE Video  Video 
BEAUDIENE BEAUT BABE underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start.
There was a delay to the start due to several runners being out of position prior to the tapes being released.
THE BLACK broke at the start.
ULTRA SHOK tangled briefly at the start.
BILLY KLONDIKE was very slow to begin and bounded for several strides.
HUDSON SULLY was held up on the final bend and throughout the run home.
BEAUDIENE BEAUT BABE was inclined to hang outwards throughout the run home.
 
Race 8 KUBALA SEEDS LTD GORE HANDICAP PACE Video  Video 
PRINCESS ARTS, ACOLYTE and MACHIE MACH all broke briefly through the early stages.
WESTBURN JEWEL raced keenly when in the parked position through the middle stages of the race.
RORY MACH and GREENBURN CREEK were both held up on the final bend and raced in restricted room in the home straight with driver B Orange (GREENBURN CREEK) advising he activated the removable deafeners however he did not activate the sliding blinds.
 
Race 9 AON INSURANCE BROKERS MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
RUN TO HIDE hung in the score up and was back off the gate at the dispatch with driver B Barclay advising that RUN TO HIDE had become awkwardly placed on the wheel of BE ME on its outside and he was unable to improve into his barrier position. As a result the trailing JETSDREAM was also slightly back at the dispatch point.
BE ME was obliged to race three wide without cover from the 900 metres.
NOTHINGFORTHEMEDIA broke passing the 400 metres losing its chance.
RUN TO HIDE was held up in the early stages of the run home.
