Race 7 - 'CLARE BEER - HARCOURTS GOLD REAL ESTATE' HANDICAP PACE
Trainer J Cox has advised Stewards that following its disappointing performance, ASTRO BOY was found to be suffering from a cracked and infected foot. Mr Cox further advised that this gelding will now be sent for a brief spell.

Race 1 BISHOPDALE/BUSH INN TAB'S & TAVERN HAREWOOD MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
COYOTE broke as the start was effected. A warning was placed on the gelding's mobile barrier record.
On the first bend near the 2300 metres FRANCO CALIPH hung inwards pressuring CIMARRON down the track onto SMOKIN CHICK which as a result struck several pylons.
SHE'S GOT IT raced wide in the early stages.
ONCEWERECHRISTIANS had difficulty maintaining its position in the field passing the 1000 metres.
Racing past the 750 metres SCANRECO BAY raced greenly for several strides and as a result caused an easing of the pace to the three wide line with both CIMARRON and HANDLEBAR HANK having to be steadied.
ONCEWERECHRISTIANS tired from the 500 metres.
Near the 350 metres SHE'S GOT IT shifted outwards when driver R Reekie attempted to activate the removable deafeners. Driver R Reekie was cautioned for his lack of control at this stage and advised that a better effort was expected in future.
SELESTER was held up in the initial stages of the run home.
BEACON HILL shifted outwards under pressure throughout the final straight.
INCREDIBLE ANVIL was held up throughout the run home and then was crowded just short of the line when BEACON HILL continued to hang outwards placing INCREDIBLE ANVIL close to the wheel of FRANCO CALIPH with INCREDIBLE ANVIL eventually breaking.
ELUSIVE FLIGHT was unable to gain clear racing room throughout the run home.
S Manawatu as the driver of HANDLEBAR HANK advised one removable deafener failed to activate.
A Edge as the driver of SCANRECO BAY was charged with and admitted a breach of Rule 869(2)(a) for excessive use of the whip over the concluding stages, and was fined the sum of $350 by the JCA.
 
Race 2 HAPPY 25TH BIRTHDAY MEL HIGGINS MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
LINTON SHARD broke as the start was effected and shifted outwards abruptly soon after making heavy contact with the sulky of HIGHVIEW SADLER which was taken wider onto KARANGA SWEET P who in turn was shifted outwards checking FEARCE FALCON which galloped. LINTON SHARD then when losing ground locked wheels with PATRICK BEE who lost its chance with this causing interference to MOTU REAL STYLE who broke briefly and DERRINGER who had to shift wider. Stewards advised the connections of LINTON SHARD that their gelding must trial satisfactorily from a mobile on one occasion prior to resuming.
FEARCE FALCON broke passing the 2400 metres.
Passing the 1500 metres FEARCE FALCON over-raced causing driver C DeFilippi considerable difficulty with the gelding then breaking and shifting outwards taking both JAYEES SUPREME and DERRINGER wider on the track. Stewards placed a warning on the gelding's racing record.
TUAPEKA ART raced keenly through the middle stages.
KARANGA SWEET P was held up for clear racing room on the final bend.
JAYEES SUPREME paced roughly on a number of occasions and then broke at the 600 metres inconveniencing LINTON SHARD. The connections were warned to improve the gelding's racing manners.
 
Race 3 'DOWNLOAD THE NEW ADDINGTON APP FOR FREE' TROT Video  Video 
The start was delayed when gear on PARIS PRINCESS was attended to with the field being taken out of line and re-assembled.
RUTHLESS SUCCESS, NATIVES BRITE GEM, CHIVASION and PRECIOUS MOMENT broke at the start.
SQUIRE JOHN, WALKING IN MEMPHIS and PARIS PRINCESS broke shortly after the start.
WALKING IN MEMPHIS and PARIS PRINCESS again broke on the first bend near the 2200 metres.
NATIVES BRITE GEM broke with 2000 metres to run.
CHINA EXPRESS was held up passing the 400 metres by the weakening BRITE N LOVELY.
PRECIOUS MOMENT broke with 250 metres to run inconveniencing CHINA EXPRESS.
RUTHLESS SUCCESS broke briefly passing the 100 metres.
SQUIRE JOHN broke with approximately 15 metres remaining and continued on in a gallop across the line.
Stewards lodged a protest against 1st placing being awarded to SQUIRE JOHN under Rule 870(5) on the grounds that it had been lapped on by ROCKET when in a gallop at the finishing line. The connections did not contest the protest with SQUIRE JOHN being relegated to 2nd placing by the JCA and ROCKET being promoted to 1st.
A protest was also lodged against 4th placing being awarded to PRECIOUS MOMENT alleging that runner had galloped in excess of 50 metres over the final 200 metres. The connections after viewing the films did not contest the protest with this runner being disqualified by the JCA.
Stewards withheld 5th placing being awarded to RUTHLESS SUCCESS until they were satisfied the mare had not breached the Breaking Horse Regulations when galloping at the start and in the home straight.
 
Race 4 RNP HOMES- 'NEW MOBILE GATE SPONSOR' MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
GOSHAWK and MOTU SPEEDY STAR hung outwards throughout the score up and as a result were back at dispatch.
SPIRIT OF CHRONOS raced wide in the early and middle stages.
SPIRIT OF CHRONOS broke when improving on the final bend. When questioned regarding this driver M Purvis explained the gelding had struck its knee.
GOSHAWK was held up on the final bend by the weakening SHANTAHLIA KNIGHT.
FLORIN was unable to gain clear racing room throughout the final stages with driver C Smith advising he had not activated the removable deafeners.
Immediately prior to crossing the finishing line FLORIN broke after contacting the sulky wheel of NORTHVIEW GAMBLER. Stewards spoke with Junior driver C Smith (FLORIN) in the presence of senior horseman J Dunn regarding this where it was established he had attempted to improve his mare into a run where sufficient room did not exist causing him to be crowded. Taking into account this being Mr Smith's first race day drive, Stewards placed a warning on his driver's record. A post-race veterinary examination of FLORIN revealed no abnormalities.
M Purvis as the driver of SPIRIT OF CHRONOS was cautioned for the manner in which he drove passing the 300 metres and advised it was expected of him to display a greater level of control in future than he had done so on this occasion.
 
Race 5 ALABAR SUPER SERIES MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
HUNTER BROMAC and ZENA MAC were held up on the final bend.
GUNPOWDER had difficulty obtaining clear racing room until passing the 100 metres.
Passing the 80 metres DELIGHTFUL JACK raced roughly after making contact with the sulky of MISS JUDGEFORD. Stewards spoke with drivers S McNally (DELIGHTFUL JACK), C Thornley (MISS JUDGEFORD), M Jones (ZENA MAC) and T Williams (THE LION'S ROAR) regarding this where it was established that THE LION'S ROAR, ZENA MAC and MISS JUDGEFORD had all shifted ground marginally under pressure resulting in DELIGHTFUL JACK becoming crowded. As blame could not be placed on any one horse or driver, Stewards took no further action other than to note the circumstances of the incident.
 
Race 6 TELTRAC COMMUNICATIONS LTD MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
ALBUQUERQUE was restrained away from the mobile prior to dispatch with driver G Pearson warned he was to remain in his position until starting point.
ALBUQUERQUE was held up on the final bend.
INCOMPARABLE commenced to weaken with 400 metres to run.
When questioned with regard to the performance of SHEZALEGEND, driver B Orange explained that in his opinion the mare was better suited over longer distances and had been out paced when the field sprinted near the 400 metres. Trainer S Dolan advised that this mare would be racing over longer distances than tonight's sprint in its immediate engagements.
 
Race 7 LAMB & HAYWARD ALABAR SUPER SERIES HANDICAP PACE Video  Video 
EXPRESSO MARTINI, ZIN ZAN and LOVETODREAM broke at the start.
Racing past the 2400 metres FAIR DINKUM BROMAC broke briefly and had to be steadied by driver K Butt.
USAIN COLT over-raced through the middle stages.
LOVETODREAM (T Williams) shifted ground inwards passing the 450 metres restricting the racing room available to MR MEDDLE which had to be steadied by driver J Dunn. In consequence the trailing CALLENBERG also had to be steadied. Stewards spoke with driver T Williams regarding this who explained that his mare had hung inwards throughout and worsened when approaching the bend near the 500 metres. Mr Williams added that it had been his intention to remain in a position off the pylons however due to the mare's racing manners had not been able to do so. After considering his explanation Stewards took the matter no further. The connections of LOVETODREAM advised it was their intention to send the mare for a spell.
CALLENBERG had to be restrained passing the 400 metres.
ZIN ZAN, LOVETODREAM and CALLENBERG had difficulty obtaining clear racing room throughout the run home.
Driver S Ottley reported that she had not activated the removable deafeners on CALLENBERG.
K Larsen (UNCLE BEN) was spoken to and advised to correct his whip action.
The all clear was withheld until such time Stewards could confirm LOVETODREAM had not been in breach of the Breaking Horse Regulations throughout the early stages.
 
Race 8 BRECKON FARMS MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
THAT GUY FINN raced roughly in the early stages.
THAT GUY FINN hung inwards on the final bend.
PROVOCATIVE PRINCE and ALL DELIGHT were held up through the home straight.
When questioned with regards to the performance of PAY ME ART, driver R May explained that he was not altogether disappointed with the run and felt that the gelding would derive further improvement as a result.
 
Race 9 ALABAR SUPER SERIES HANDICAP TROT Video  Video 
The start was delayed when LISA MARIE P had difficulty addressing the barriers. A warning was placed on the mare's barrier record.
EILISH AIMEE, CUDDLY JESS, PAMMYS BOY, PYRAMID MONARCH and TOPNOTCH TITAN broke at the start with EILISH AIMEE and CUDDLY JESS losing all chance.
GALLEONS ROYALE hung outwards through the back straight on the first occasion.
VISUALISE was held up for clear racing room through the early stages of the run home.
GALLEONS ROYALE was sent for a post-race veterinary examination and was treated for lacerations to its back legs.
Stewards reviewed the start of this race with driver B Williamson regarding the breaking of PYRAMID MONARCH and the effort he had made when he lost ground to ensure his mare was returned to its proper gait at its earliest opportunity. Mr Williamson explained the mare had been unsuited to waiting a prolonged time behind the tapes and then panicked when bounding away despite his efforts to restrain her taking him longer than anticipated to settle her.
M Perriton as the trainer of LISA MARIE P reported that it was her intention to send the mare for a spell.
 
Race 10 BLUE STAR TAXIS MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
RINGARINGAROZIE over-raced through the middle stages.
WATTLEBANK FLYER which was over-racing broke with 1200 metres to run after becoming awkwardly placed near the sulky of BEST DEFENCE. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
GO COLLECT had difficulty obtaining clear racing room through the early and middle stages of the run home.
