Race 7 - FAT SALLY'S PUB & RESTAURANT HANDICAP PACE
At a JCA hearing today, Driver S McNally admitted a breach of Rule 867 in that he drove for a considerable distance with his foot out of the sulky rest in the home straight when driving GREENBURN CREEK. After viewing the replays and considering submissions on penalty the JCA imposed a fine of $100.

Race 5 - COMMITTEE & STEWARDS MOBILE PACE
Trainer J Howe has advised Stewards that following its disappointing run at Rangiora on 26 July, REAL COOL DUDE had a very slow recovery rate but had since worked satisfactorily. He added that he felt that the gelding may not have been suited to the distance and the quick tempo of the race. Mr Howe further advised that the gelding would have another start after which the connections would reassess its racing future.

Race 1 COLLIE HILLS STUD TROT Video  Video 
THE JINJA NINJA broke at the start.
BLINK and PARIS PRINCESS broke after 100 metres.
GREY FERNCO raced very wide rounding the first bend.
Racing into the first bend the boring pole on SCOTTIE TROUBLE broke and hung loose during the running. This gear was inspected and found to be in good condition.
SYNDIRELLA broke near the 1700 metres when racing in the trail.
GREY FERNCO broke passing the 1600 metres.
IT'S HOW YOU USE IT hung inwards and broke near the 1450 metres.
PLAYBOY'S BROTHER over raced passing the 1400 metres when being restrained to trail.
THE JINJA NINJA and IT'S HOW YOU USE IT broke approaching the 800 metres.
Authorisation of 4th placing being awarded to GREY FERNCO was withheld until Stewards were satisfied that the mare had complied with the Breaking Horse Regulations.
Driver C McKay (PLAYBOY'S BROTHER) was warned to ensure his whip remains in the confines of the sulky.
 
Race 2 FAT SALLY'S PUB & RESTAURANT PACE Video  Video 
Trainer P Anderson (RHYTHMIST) was charged a $25 colour fee.
The start was delayed due to FLAGPOLE displaying poor barrier manners with this gelding then rearing and buckling the sulky wheel of BORN TO DELIGHT.
There was a further delay due to the sulky on BORN TO DELIGHT having to be replaced.
FLAGPOLE was sent to the unruly by Starter P Lamb prior to the start.
HANGOVER, BLACK GEORGE and FLAGPOLE broke at the start.
Racing into the first bend CAESAR'S JADE broke before settling midfield.
RHYTHMIST paced roughly passing the 1800 metres before breaking briefly near the 1200 metres. A warning was placed on the racing performance of RHYTHMIST.
Passing the 800 metres CAESAR'S JADE was retired from the race by driver L McCormick after a hopple elastic had broken.
GENE TIME gave ground on the final bend with the trailing BLACK GEORGE and BORN TO DELIGHT being held up.
HANGOVER was also held up for clear racing room passing the 300 metres.
Near the 300 metres KARANGA SWEET P hung inwards despite the efforts of driver R Close placing BOUNCER in restricted room which paced roughly.
BOUNCER again paced roughly early in the run home.
KARANGA SWEET P continued to hang inwards in the early stages of the run home.
BLACK GEORGE was again held up in the early stages of the home straight.
The connections of CAESAR'S JADE were advised that this mare must trial to the satisfaction of Stewards on one occasion before its next race day start, the connections advised Stewards they would no longer be persevering with this mare from their stable.
FLAGPOLE was placed on the unruly for future standing starts.
Driver M McAuley (BLACK GEORGE) was shown a replay and warned for using her whip when out of contention.
 
Race 3 TWIZEL COMBINED SERVICES CLUB MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
The start was delayed due to the previous race running late.
RAINY RIVER hung inwards racing into the first bend.
EL OF A KIWI raced keenly passing the 1600 metres.
MIDNIGHT FLYER over raced in the middle stages.
ELI LOWE commenced to give ground from the 400 metres with the trailing TAKITIMU EXPRESS being held up. When questioned regarding the performance of this gelding driver B Orange could offer no explanation. Stewards requested a post-race veterinary examination of ELI LOWE which revealed no abnormalities. Stewards will follow up the recovery of ELI LOWE in the coming days.
Driver R Holmes briefly dropped his foot from the sulky rest when activating the removable deafeners on EL OF A KIWI.
MIDNIGHT FLYER had difficulty obtaining clear racing room passing the 200 metres.
TAKITIMU EXPRESS was held up in the early stages of the run home before shifting EL OF A KIWI wider on the track resulting in EL OF A KIWI pacing roughly. Driver J Cox (TAKITIMU EXPRESS) was warned for the manner in which he shifted ground.
 
Race 4 RURAL TRANSPORT MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
FLAGPOLE was a late scratching after having competed in Race 2.
The start was delayed due to the previous race running late.
CHOOSY TART hung inwards racing into the first bend.
FRANCO HAMILTON hung inwards and raced greenly rounding the first bend.
BEAUDIENE GAMBLER paced roughly rounding the final bend and in the early stages of the home straight.
FRANCO HAMILTON hung inwards in the early stages of the home straight.
THE GHOST was held up for clear racing room passing the 200 metres.
SIMPLY FUN was briefly placed in restricted room late in the run home.
Driver D Paterson (BEAUDIENE GAMBLER) was shown a replay and warned for using his whip when out of contention.
 
Race 5 KEEP IT CLEAN PACE Video  Video 
BE ME broke at the start and shifted inwards abruptly checking MR HANDLEMAN, SUNNIVUE BAY BOY, CONTRACTUAL ISSUES and TOP BRASS with BE ME losing all chance. BE ME was placed on the unruly for future standing starts. Trainer D Trainor advised that BE ME would be restricted to mobile starts in future where possible.
MINSTREL BOY and UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE broke at the start.
LAURAS LEGACY briefly shifted outwards passing the 1800 metres when restraining to take a trail which hampered SOUNDS SWIFT.
SOUNDS SWIFT and WARP POWER raced keenly in the middle stages.
IGOTTASTAR over raced rounding the final bend.
WARP POWER hung inwards when tiring passing the 300 metres.
SMILING ARMADA shifted inwards passing the 150 metres to gain clear running.
MINSTREL BOY was placed in restricted room late in the run home.
 
Race 6 BAYER ANIMAL HEALTH TROT Video  Video 
The start was delayed due to firstly SHADOW GALLEON and then TRICK STAR being unable to take up their respective barrier positions.
SUN'S INVASION broke after 150 metres losing its chance.
MUM BEAT LYALL and ILLUSTRIOUS QUEEN raced wide in the early stages.
ILLUSTRIOUS QUEEN hung inwards and over raced passing the 1400 metres.
PYRAMID MAGIC broke near the 1300 metres.
ILLUSTRIOUS QUEEN broke near the 1100 metres when continuing to over race.
MUM BEAT LYALL broke near the 400 metres checking the trailing PYRAMID MAGIC which also broke.
BEYOND A JOKE trotted roughly passing the 150 metres.
 
Race 7 MCKEOWN PETROLEUM JUNIOR DRIVERS MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
The required veterinary clearance was received for PRINCESS ARTS to resume racing.
MACH OF THE MAN paced roughly racing into the first bend when being restrained.
PRINCESS ARTS hung inwards and struck pylons passing the 1500 metres.
BOOMER BAILEY and THE PERSUADER were held up for clear racing room on the final bend.
BOOMER BAILEY paced roughly passing the 150 metres when attempting to shift outwards in search of clear running before being held up for the remainder of the home straight.
THE PERSUADER was held up late in the run home.
COURAGE TO FLY and FRANCO HARRINGTON hung inwards in the home straight.
 
Race 8 CROWE HORWATH KUROW CUP HANDICAP PACE Video  Video 
The required veterinary clearance was received for ALL DELIGHT to resume racing.
EVEN FLO was a late scratching at 7.45am with a Veterinary certificate provided.
The start was delayed after KARANGA RED FANTASY charged through the barrier strand despite the efforts of driver G Smith. A warning was placed on the standing start record of KARANGA RED FANTASY.
THAT'S HUNTING PINK reared just prior to the start being effected with this mare being slow to begin.
KARANGA RED FANTASY and STARSKY'S DREAM broke at the start.
ALL DELIGHT and KARANGA RED FANTASY were held up on the final bend by the tiring FIREBREAK.
CANNDEW and DEVIL MAY CARE were held up for clear racing room in the early stages of the run home.
GREENBURN CREEK was held up for clear racing room throughout the home straight with driver B Orange advising he did not activate the removable deafeners on the gelding.
WHYAMIBETTOR and CANARDLY LOVER briefly came together over the concluding stages.
 
Race 9 PGG WRIGHTSON HANDICAP TROT Video  Video 
DUCHESSE DE L'AMOUR cast a shoe in the preliminary with this mare racing with only one front shoe.
DUCHESSE DE L'AMOUR and VALMAGNE broke at the start.
VALMAGNE hung inwards in the home straight.
Driver R McIlwrick (MALDARNA) was warned for the manner he used his whip in the home straight.
 
Race 10 JOHNSON GLUYAS TRACTORS MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
JACCKA EMBERZ over raced in the score up.
BEAUDIENE BEAUT BABE hung outwards in the early stages.
MOTU MOONBEAM, CHANGE THE RULZ, HUDSON SULLY and EASTBURN MARA were held up on the final bend by the tiring BAY EMERALD.
Driver B Orange (CERATO) briefly dropped his foot from the sulky rest when activating the removable deafeners passing the 200 metres.
HUDSON SULLY was held up for clear racing room throughout the home straight with driver J Young advising she did not activate the removable deafeners on the gelding.
TUSCALOOSA was awkwardly placed close to the sulky wheel of HESTIA FRANCO near the 100 metres when HESTIA FRANCO shifted ground outwards to avoid the tiring PAULA'S ON FIRE.
CHANGE THE RULZ was held up for clear racing room until the final 50 metres.
