Stewards inquired into an incident near the 300 metres when TETRICK (R May) received a flat tyre as a result of contact being made form the trailing WATTLEBANK FLYER (B Orange). Mr Orange advised that WATTLEBANK FLYER had traveled keenly on the final bend and when TETRICK shifted outwards prior to the passing lane his horse had attempted to improve its position despite his efforts. Mr Orange added there had not been sufficient room for his horse and sulky and so he had elected to restrain his gelding however it was at this time contact was made with Mr May's sulky. After reviewing the films Stewards accepted Mr Orange's explanation and took the matter no further.
Driver and trainer's representative R May advised that despite sustaining a punctured sulky tyre in the home straight he had been disappointed with the efforts of TETRICK over the final stages. Mr Holmes added he was even more mindful of this today due to it being the filly's first attempt over 2600 metres. Due to the filly continuing to hang inwards he elected to improve his position along the pylons passing the 600 metres as opposed to attempting to shift wider on the track.
