RETURN TO SENDER (favourite) was improved to race one out without cover from inside the 1200 metres and proceeded to over-race, weakening in the run home to finish in 5th placing, 5.2 lengths in arrears of the winner. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Driver J. Dunn confirmed RETURN TO SENDER had over-raced and that this was the gelding's undoing. | |
