No claims were lodged for OUR SOUTHERN MAN, HANDLEBAR HANK or ELLIOT DANIEL.
Trainer J Abernethy (OUR SOUTHERN MAN) was issued with a Minor Infringement Notice and fined $50 for the late notification of the addition of sliding blinds.
LUCKY JOHN was held up early in the run home.
Amateur driver J Kriechbaumer (ELLIOT DANIEL) momentarily dropped his right foot from the foot rest near the 100m.
 
Race 2 DUNSTAN FEEDS HANDICAP TROT Video  Video 
MA CILLE swung sideways at the start and was slow early.
NO ORDINARY SUN and MOKOSUN broke at the start with MOKOSUN losing considerable ground.
GREY STOKE broke shortly after the start losing all chance.
TAIMATE SUCCESS broke entering the first turn and settled towards the rear.
MOKOSUN hung in badly on the bends throughout the event and then broke passing the 400 metres losing its chance.
NO ORDINARY SUN broke briefly passing the 350 metres.
Authorisation of the 3rd placing of TAIMATE SUCCESS was withheld until it was confirmed that this filly had complied with the breaking horses regulation when galloping on the first turn.
 
Race 3 STONEWALL FILLIES NO 9 SYNDICATE JUVENILE MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
RANFURLY BROGDEN was placed in restricted room to the inside of CHRISSIE JET, which was inclined to lay in, racing into the first bend.
HU R U was held up on the final turn and early stages of the run home.
Entering the final straight Driver J Stormont (ARMABLUECHIPBOY) momentarily dropped his foot from the sulky footrest when activating gear.
 
Race 4 "B SHIFT" MID WINTER BASH HANDICAP TROT Video  Video 
There were no claims lodged for DRAGON LADY or SILVER STREAM.
SILVER STREAM was marginally back from position at the start and then was slow over the early stages.
MIGHTY SUNNY broke shortly after the start and settled at the rear.
MISS MIDDLETON broke on two occasions entering the first turn.
JAGERMEISTER broke briefly on the first turn.
JAGERMEISTER broke at the 1800 metres losing its chance.
MIGHTY SUNNY broke approaching the 700 metres losing ground.
MISS MIDDLETON broke passing the 400 metres losing its chance.
THE SCRUFF broke passing the 250 metres losing its chance.
MISS MIDDLETON was placed on the unruly at the trainers request for future standing starts.
 
Race 5 ARMSTRONG MEMORIAL FILLIES & MARES MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
KATE CATERINA broke in the initial stages of the score up losing all chance. A warning was placed against this mare's racing manners.
Stewards questioned Driver M McKendry (CHRISTY MAGUIRE) into the reason why he elected not to utilise the passing lane in the run home. He advised that CHRISTY MAGUIRE was inclined to lay out rounding the final bend and that it was to his best advantage to allow the filly to improve to the outside of ARMS OF AN ANGEL when the run presented itself prior to the passing lane becoming available.
 
Race 6 CAMBRIDGE JOCKEY CLUB MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
THE MOONRAKER commenced to lay out rounding the first bend when being eased and struck the sulky wheel of BERT THE BOOKIE with THE MOONRAKER breaking and losing ground inconveniencing SOUVENIR GLORY, SAGE CREEK and I AM THE ONE. A warning was placed on the racing manners record of THE MOONRAKER.
SHARDON'S SHERALEE commenced to give ground passing the 350 metres after racing outside the leader throughout. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
When questioned regarding the driving tactics adopted on SHARDON'S SHERALEE Driver T Mitchell advised Stewards that after having gone forward early to challenge for the lead he then felt that driver J Dickie (MAJESTIC JOHN) may be looking for a trail when he eased the pace entering the back straight the first time so he elected to improve forward however Mr Dickie had then maintained the front. Mr Mitchell further stated that SHARDON'S SHERALEE had then tended to over-race before commencing to give ground leaving the back straight the final time. He further added that in hindsight SHARDON'S SHERALEE may have done too well since its previous race a fortnight ago.
When questioned regarding the performance of MAJESTIC JOHN (favourite) Co-Trainer / Driver J Dickie advised Stewards that working to maintain the lead over the early and middle stages had taken its toll with the gelding failing to run on. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
Race 7 RAY O'CONNOR MEMORIAL HANDICAP PACE Video  Video 
There were no claims lodged for WESTBURN COURAGE.
WESTBURN COURAGE contacted pylons rounding the final bend.
SIMPLY STUNNING was held up for clear running until passing the 50 metres.
FOUR STARZZZ SHIRAZ shifted out under pressure in the run home. Driver J Dickie was warned to make a greater effort to keep his horse straight in the run home in future.
 
Race 8 JOHN BAKER HAPPY 70TH JULY 24 MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
Shortly after the start FRANCO SANTIAGO broke. A warning was placed on the mobile barrier manners of this gelding.
ELECT TO GO was inclined to lay out during the early and middle stages.
Approaching the 800 metres WITHOUT PREJUDICE commenced to lay out and broke forcing SUPERIMPOSED and ELECT TO GO wider on the track. A warning was placed on the racing manners of WITHOUT PREJUDICE.
Approaching the 400 meters FRANCO SANTIAGO commenced to give ground with the trailing ITSOKBEINGBETTER shifting ground inwards and striking the near side sulky wheel of FRANCO SANTIAGO causing ITSOKBEINGBETTER to break.
