Race 1 NZ TRUCKS & AB EQUIPMENT TROT Video  Video 
B. Mangos was approved as a late change of driver for ACOUGARZSUN due to listed driver Z. Butcher being held up en route to the course.
Trainers J. and J. Dickie were issued a Minor Infringement Notice and fined $100.00 for presenting ISA SMILING to race with half hopples which were not notified.
ISA SMILING and TWELVE MONKEYS were slow away.
GOSIMONGO and LANDORA'S AMBER both broke approaching the first bend.
PAUL AMOUR broke when racing prominently approaching the 1500 metres, losing all chance.
TWELVE MONKEYS and ISA SMILING both broke passing the 1500 metres, losing considerable ground.
WINGS ON FIRE broke passing the 200 metres.
ACOUGARZSUN broke late in the run home.
The authorisation of the 4th placing of TWELVE MONKEYS was withheld until it was confirmed that this mare complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation when it galloped with approximately 1500 metres to run.
A Protest was lodged under Rule 870(5) against the second placing of ACOUGARZSUN which reached the finishing line in an incorrect gait and was lapped on by the third placed FIRST VINTAGE. The Protest was not contested and the J.C.A. relegated ACOUGARZSUN to third placing in behind FIRST VINTAGE.

HADRIAN tended to over-race when leading during the middle stages.
JET BLACK SHADOW (favourite) was restrained from its outside draw early before improving three wide from the 1200 metres and then raced three wide without cover from the 1000 metres before battling on into third place beaten 3.9 lengths.
Driver S. Phelan (BOURBON STREET) was questioned in relation to the tactics he adopted during the middle stages when electing to maintain the position outside the leader when he had the opportunity to take a trail on JET BLACK SHADOW. Mr Phelan stated that Driver N. Chilcott (JET BLACK SHADOW) had only challenged briefly for the position outside the leader so he had been content to maintain that position rather than hand up. Mr Phelan further explained that he would have been prepared to take a trail on JET BLACK SHADOW had the challenge been more vigorous. Mr Phelan's comments were noted.

Trainer N. Chilcott (LOKI BROGDEN) was charged a colour fee of $25.00.
KOWHAI MONARCH (favourite) broke shortly after the start settling at the rear.
DAUNTLESS broke racing round the first turn, losing its chance.
LOKI BROGDEN broke at the 1400 metres, losing its chance.
IDLE EYRE broke at the 1050 metres and again at the 600 metres.
MY MUMS ASTAR broke with 250 metres left to run, losing ground.

Driver T. Mitchell (MACHINEGUN KELLY) reported that his near side sulky tyre deflated shortly after the start. This gelding gave ground over the final stages.
CAESAR'S PRINCE tired over the final stages. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
SPEAK UP, which was racing towards the rear, broke approaching the 400 metres losing several lengths. A warning was placed against this gelding's racing manners.
 
Race 5 CAL>ISUZU MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
Trainers P. and V. Blanchard were issued a Minor Infringement Notice and fined $100.00 for presenting VANISHING to race without the notified blinds.
DIAMOND SUPREME hung in the score up and was back approximately a length at the start.
M T POCKETS was slow early and then hung in on the first turn, losing contact with the field.
VANISHING broke near the 1600 metres losing all chance. This mare was stood down for 14 days.
DIAMOND SUPREME paced roughly and broke for several strides passing the 850 metres. A warning was placed on this colt's racing manners record.
 
Race 6 BRIDGESTONE NZ LTD MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
UNFORGIVING broke in the initial stages of the score up but was in position just prior to despatch.
ART I SPECIAL broke with approximately 220 metres to run. A warning was placed on this gelding's racing manners record.
 
Race 7 TRUCKS & TRAILERS MERCEDES-BENZ VANS MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
V C DELL was reluctant to follow the mobile in the initial stages of the score up but was in position at the start.
GO FELLA GO tended to over-race in the middle stages.
POMME ROY (leader) shifted out on the final turn and again on straightening for the run home, momentarily inconveniencing TWOANDAHALF TIGERS.

Dual acceptor IDLE EYRE was a late scratching at 7.32 pm after having competed in Race 3.
DJOKOVIC breasted the 10 metre barrier just prior to the start being declared but began safely.
OPAWA SPEED and MAJESTIC ONE were both slow early.
DJOKOVIC (favourite) broke under pressure when in the lead passing the 150 metres, losing all chance.
 
Race 9 FIRSTFLEX CABLES FILLIES & MARES MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
GLITZY GAL paced roughly shortly after the start and then broke with the off hind hopple loop breaking while the filly was in a gallop. GLITZY GAL then broke again entering the first turn and leaving the back straight the first time and was retired from the event. This gear was inspected and found to be in satisfactory condition with a warning being placed on the filly's mobile barrier manners.
