WAINGARO MARA over-raced in the middle stages.

Race 8 MCCONNELL STAFFORD-BUSH HANDICAP TROT Video  Video
MOMENT OF TRUTH and DRAGON LADY were not claimed from this event.
TORBJORN required a sulky wheel change delaying the start. A further delay was caused by I GOT RHYTHM being fractious. A warning was placed on the standing start manners of I GOT RHYTHM.
JAGERMEISTER broke shortly after the start losing considerable ground.
YOGI JOHNSON hung in passing the 2300 metres dislodging a marker peg.
TERESKOVA, when in the lead, shifted ground outward rounding the bend straightening up for the run down the back straight the last time, which allowed the trailing THE ALMIGHTY JOHNSON to improve on this mare's inside to lead.
I GOT RHYTHM was under pressure approaching the 500 metres and was taken wider on the track and proceeded to give ground.
YOGI JOHNSON broke passing the 400 metres losing its chance.
THE ALMIGHTY JOHNSON broke when in the lead passing the 200 metres regaining its gait with 80 metres to run, finishing in 6th place.

Race 9 TRUCK & TYRES NIGHT 17TH JULY MOBILE PACE Video  Video
ROCKER BAND hung in the score up and was approximately a length and a half out of position at the start.
STARS AND SOUND, which was racing one out without cover, was inclined to hang in rounding the final bend and when being straightened up by Driver D. Butcher marginally shifted out causing DOUBLEODEANO to pace roughly on its outside. This in turn momentarily checked RETURN TO SENDER, which was forced to race wider on the track losing approximately a length.
ROCKER BAND (favourite), after attempting to lead, weakened to finish 6th, 10.3 lengths from the winner. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer/Driver M. Jones advised that the filly raced erratically early before he improved it to the lead. In the lead it proceeded to over-race and he knew he was in trouble inside the 500 metres. ROCKER BAND races with a cornell collar and anti-choke gear to assist the filly's breathing. Mr Jones believes that he will need to change his driving tactics to prevent it from over-racing and will need to be driven with cover when possible.

Race 10 THE ALEX BAR & EATERY HANDICAP TROT Video  Video
YANKEE DOODLE DANDY and KOWHAI MONARCH both broke at the start, KOWHAI MONARCH settling at the rear.
REINE DES GITANS broke racing into the first bend, breaking again passing the 1800 metres losing its chance and being pulled up.
The authorisation of the payment of the 4th placing of KOWHAI MONARCH was withheld until such time that it was confirmed that this gelding had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation as it galloped over the early stages of the race.
A Minor Infringement was issued and a $100 fine imposed on Trainer R. Bowker for failing to affix a bandage on WINGS ON FIRE so as not to come adrift.
