SHARDS HALO was held up on the final bend before shifting wider at the straight entrance to improve its position. | |

When questioned regarding the improved performance of GUPTA'S CULLEN, trainer/driver C McDowell advised that GUPTA'S CULLEN had been working well in the lead up to this evening's race and had received a favourable run when leading throughout. | |

ATOM EXPRESS hung inwards on the first bend and paced roughly losing contact with the body of the field. ATOM EXPRESS continued to hang for the remainder of the journey. | |
WORKINPROGRESS commenced to give ground from the 850 metres. The connections of WORKINPROGRESS were warned to improve the racing performance of the gelding. Trainer C Buchan advised the gelding has been retired from his stable. | |

When questioned regarding the performance of ATOM EXPRESS, driver D Dunn confirmed to the Stewards that the gelding had hung and paced roughly throughout and apportioned this to the inexperience of ATOM EXPRESS. | |
Following this race driver R McIlwrick (HEZ ONLY THE LONELY) advised the hopple shorteners had failed to release after the cord became entangled. | |

HIGHVIEW ILLUSION broke in the score up and was back out of position at the start. The connections advised they would be adding hopple shorteners to the gelding's gear for its upcoming starts. | |
ARIZONA PETE raced keenly rounding the first bend when attempting to obtain cover. | |
Favoured runner WEBB ELLIS improved three wide from the 1300 metres before challenging for the lead briefly with 1100 metres to run and was then left in the parked position before tiring over the final stages. | |
RORY and BETTA GO FERNCO were both denied racing room on the final bend. | |
HIGHVIEW ILLUSION hung inwards in the home straight when improving its position wide on the track. | |
ARIZONA PETE momentarily lost its momentum when racing in restricted room near the 100 metres. | |
The Stewards viewed replays of the start to ensure that FLUSHING MEADOWS had started from its correct position of one on the second line after HIGHVIEW ILLUSION had broken in the score up. After viewing the replays Stewards were satisfied that FLUSHING MEADOWS was on the second line at the dispatch point. | |

FIERY FERRET and NORTHVIEW HANOVER both raced keenly passing the 1300 metres when there was an easing of the pace. | |
With 1100 metres to run JAYEES SUPREME (G Telfer) became awkwardly placed on the back of FIERY FERRET and paced roughly for a few strides. | |
After passing the 1000 metres ALTAR EGO broke when challenging for the lead three wide. As a result the trailing JETSDREAM was inconvenienced. ALTAR EGO received a punctured sulky tyre and was retired from the event by driver N Williamson. | |
Near the 400 metres EJA PATRON (B McLellan) broke free of interference, then shifted outwards locking wheels with JETSDREAM on its outside. As a result SNOW RAKER, NORTHVIEW HANOVER, PACIFIC HILIGHT, DEVINE CULLECT, FIERY FERRET, SHARK ALI and JUSTAN'S SISTER were all checked. JUSTAN'S SISTER then stumbled and fell with driver R McIlwrick being dislodged from the sulky. Mr McIlwrick was examined by the on-course St John paramedics and cleared to drive after suffering no injuries. | |

JUSTAN'S SISTER was examined by the on-course veterinarian and was found to be suffering from abrasions to the left knee and hip and also received a haematoma to its forehead with a veterinary clearance required prior to the filly resuming racing. | |
Driver G Telfer (JAYEES SUPREME) was shown a replay of the incident with 1100 metres to run when JAYEES SUPREME paced roughly and was warned for the manner he drove when trailing too close to other runners. | |
There was a delay to the clearing of all dividends after the Trackside video replays had a malfunction. | |

The Stewards requested a veterinary examination of PRINCESS ARTS which revealed the filly to be suffering from a respiratory disorder and had an elevated heart rate with a veterinary clearance required prior to PRINCESS ARTS resuming racing. | |
Starter W Ferguson was questioned in relation to the speed of the mobile prior to the dispatch point. Mr Ferguson advised that he did not believe he was travelling any quicker than normal however Stewards advised that the runners had struggled to maintain their positions over the latter stages of the score up due to the speed just prior to the dispatch. | |

LIMA LAD and FACE VALUE both broke shortly after the start with both these runners failing to settle for a considerable distance losing all chance. FACE VALUE was subsequently retired from the event with the connections advising the mare would no longer be persevered with. | |

VENETO tired from the 450 metres after being caught parked for the majority of the race. | |
Approaching the 150 metres GYRATE (R Close) ducked in sharply resulting in TARTAN TROUBLES (M Williamson) on its inside pacing roughly for several strides and losing its momentum. | |
Driver N Williamson (BILLY THE BUS) was warned to change his whip action. | |
The Stewards questioned drivers R Close and M Williamson in relation to the incident near the 150 metres. Mr Close advised that GYRATE had shifted in sharply while being driven out. Mr Williamson advised the Stewards that he had also been dictated slightly wider on the track by the leader WEEDON'S EXPRESS. After hearing from both horsemen the Stewards were satisfied that Mr Close had taken immediate action to correct his horse and no further action was required in relation to his driving. A warning was however placed on the racing manners of GYRATE. | |
