GOD FORBID broke near the 1000 metres losing its chance. Driver J. Abernethy was questioned in regard to this incident and stated that GOD FORBID had hung entering the front straight to receive the bell and that he had then been required to flick the mare up with the whip to hold the back of JOHNNY FOX with the pace in the one out line then easing which resulted in him having to strongly restrain GOD FORBID which shifted out and then galloped shortly afterwards. Given the circumstances, no further action was deemed necessary.
