Race Comments
Race 1 DAVID CRAIG MEMORIAL MOBILE PACE Video  Video
R J BOPPER, which was racing five back on the marker line, was inconvenienced and briefly shifted down into the passing lane near the 1200 metres when being restrained after the pace eased.
An investigation was held into an incident near the 250 metres where SAFINS WARRIOR raced erratically for several strides as EYE BROW was shifting ground to its inside. It was established that SAFINS WARRIOR had raced greenly when being eased after momentarily being placed in restricted room and no further action was deemed necessary.
Trainer/Driver A. Herlihy reported that WAR HORSE had cast its off fore shoe during the running but was of the opinion it had not affected the gelding's chances.

Race 2 NZ ONION CO. MOBILE PACE Video  Video
Driver G. Noakes (DORRIE D) was questioned regarding the tactics he adopted during the middle stages after DORRIE D raced three wide from the 1700 metres before tiring badly over the final stages. Mr Noakes stated that he had elected to shift out to the three wide position to attempt to improve forward to race outside the leader, given that the tempo was moderate and that DORRIE D was one paced and had raced competitively when driven in this manner previously. Mr Noakes further stated that MISS DAISY had then shifted out in front of him before improving forward strongly and that he had been unable to hold that filly's back before HAPPY TO GO then shifted away from the marker line to race outside the leader. This resulted in DORRIE D then being obliged to race three wide for the remainder of the event before commencing to weaken on the final turn. After considering the matter, Mr Noakes' comments were noted.

Race 3 DAWN BALLE MEMORIAL HANDICAP TROT Video  Video
PARAMOUNT DREAM broke at the start but soon settled.

MEANDER WITH PEGASUS broke passing the 2100 metres and trailed the field.
REVENUE MAKER (D. McGowan) broke approaching the 900 metres after having been shifted wider on the track by TORBJORN (P. Ferguson). An investigation was held into this incident and after hearing the relative evidence and viewing the replays, it was established that REVENUE MAKER may have contributed to its own breaking and no further action was taken.
Driver J. Dickie (PARAMOUNT DREAM) was reminded of his obligations in relation to his starting position when drawn unruly.
