Selected horses on today's programme were subjected to pre-race blood testing.
Due to the inclement weather conditions mud guards and wet weather dust sheets were instructed to be affixed to all sulkies prior to Race 1.

Race 4 - OLPHERT CONTRACTING MOBILE PACE
After considering the explanation tendered regarding his apparent lack of vigour over the concluding stages of the above said race, Horseman B McLellan was issued with and defended a charge under Rule 868 (2) alleging that he failed to take all reasonable and permissible measures over the concluding stages to ensure TILLY PATRON was given full opportunity to win the race. At a hearing conducted at Forbury Park Raceway on the 21st May 2015 the J.C.A found Mr McLellan guilty of the charge and suspended his horseman's licence for a period of 5 racing days starting from the conclusion of racing at the Winton HRC's meeting on the 24th May 2015 up to and including the 4th June 2015. Mr McLellan was also ordered to pay a fine to the sum of $300.00.

Race 6 - PRYDES EASIFEED TROT
Stewards spoke with horseman J Cox regarding the breaking of YGRITTE nearing the 350 metres in the above race. After viewing all available films and taking into account Mr Cox's explanation he was issued with and admitted a charge under Rule 869(3)(b) in that he was careless by improving YGRITTE outwards when not in a position to do so and as a result struck the sulky of OCTOBER RAIN causing his own horse to break. After hearing submissions on penalty the J.C.A suspended Mr Cox's horsemans licence for a period of 3 racing days starting from the end of racing at the Ashburton TC's meeting on the 30th May 2015 (deferred under Rule 1304(b)(i)) up to and including the 4th June 2015.

Race 1 TRACTOR HIRE SOUTH HANDICAP TROT Video  Video 
The start was delayed due to several runners displaying poor barrier manners.
EYRE'S A RAG DOLL, CICADA JENERIK and CONALL CERNACH all broke over the early stages.
MR ROBINSON broke at the start and again nearing the 600 metres.
CICADA JENERIK broke nearing the 500 metres losing its chance.
SUN SYMPHONY was inclined to hang outwards at various stages throughout the event and broke near the 300 metres.
SUNDON INVASION trotted roughly through the early stages of the run home and broke near the 150 metres.
 
Race 2 JOHN DEERE 6000M SERIES MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
FUZZY MUZZA and DISSOLUTION were both obliged to race wide rounding the first bend.
HUNTER FERNCO broke with 1400 metres to run losing considerable ground with a warning being placed on the racing manners of the gelding.
FUZZY MUZZA had a warning placed on its performance after it commenced to tire from the 700 metres inconveniencing RED ELECTRIC, POCKET CAESAR, and TETRICK. Trainer G Lee advised he would not be persevering with FUZZY MUZZA as a racing proposition from his stable.
ELLE KO was held up through the early and middle stages of the run home.
 
Race 3 JOHN DEERE 6OOOR SERIES MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
RIVER PATROL and INCREDIBLE ANVIL locked wheels late in the score up which resulted in INCREDIBLE ANVIL being back off the gate and the outside sulky tyre on RIVER PATROL deflating shortly afterwards.
PEGASUS KOMMANDER had to be restrained nearing the 1750 metres when placed in tight quarters by MACH OF THE MAN (R McIlwrick). Junior horseman R McIlwrick was cautioned regarding easing down when not clear to do so.
JOHAN'S JET commenced to tire from the 600 metres with a warning being placed on the racing performance of the gelding.
RIVER PATROL commenced to tire entering the home straight. When questioned regarding this horseman B Williamson could only attribute it to the gelding carrying a deflated sulky tyre for the majority of the event.
 
Race 4 MURRAY GRAY MEMORIAL HANDICAP TROT Video  Video 
THE BADGER, SPRINGBANK EDEN and APOLLO MISSION all broke as the start was effected.
CONROCK broke shortly after the start.
JOHN HENRY GALLEON commenced to tire from the 600 metres inconveniencing SNOW BOY.
GEE UP NEDDY broke entering the home straight on the last occasion when leading. The connections advised they would be turning the gelding out for a spell.
 
Race 5 JOHN DEERE 7000R AG TRACTORS MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
MAN I'M GOOD over raced through the middle stages with this gelding then hanging out and breaking near the 850 metres.
THREE DREAMS struggled to maintain contact with the body of the field from the 500 metres. When questioned regarding this horseman D Dunn could offer no explanation. Stewards requested a post race veterinary examination of THREE DREAMS which revealed no clinical abnormalities. Stewards will follow up the recovery of this gelding in the coming days.
LIGHTNING FLIGHT broke free of interference near the 300 metres.
 
Race 6 JOHN DEERE PREMIUM RIDE ON MOWERS MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
GIRLS NITE OUT broke in the score up and failed to settle losing its chance with a warning being placed on the mobile barrier manners of the filly.
TACT MINAJ broke shortly after the start before falling to the track dislodging horseman R McIlwrick. FRANCO NOIRE was unable to avoid the fallen runner and dislodged horseman C Ferguson from his sulky who then landed in the sulky of CAYENNE EL (K Larsen) and as a consequence this gelding lost its chance in the event. Both R McIlwrick and C Ferguson were examined by the St John Ambulance Paramedics and cleared to fulfil their remaining driving engagements today. TACT MINAJ and FRANCO NOIRE were subjected to veterinary examinations which revealed TACT MINAJ to have suffered superficial abrasions to its chest along with abrasions to its right knee which required treatment and FRANCO NOIRE was treated for over reach wounds along with abrasions to its left shoulder and the front of both hind legs. Both runners were stood down pending a vet clearance with TACT MINAJ also required to trial satisfactory behind the mobile on one occasion.
BLACK ATHENA was held up through the early stages of the run home.
 
Race 7 JOHN DEERE XUV GATORS MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
MACY BLUE CHIP over raced through the early stages. This mare struck track markers entering the home straight on the final occasion.
RAPID MACH over raced through the middle stages.
 
Race 8 SOUTHLAND FARM MACHINERY GOLDEN GIRLS FINAL Video  Video 
Trainer M House was fined $100.00 for presenting ASK ME MACH to race in the incorrect gear.
KIWI FOCUS was held up in the early stages of the run home.
PENNYANA was held up for the majority of the run home.
 
Race 9 JOHN DEERE 8000R AG TRACTORS MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
BELMONT FIRE was out of position as the start was effected.
Horseman D Dunn (DELIGHTFUL DASH) dropped his foot from the sulky footrest momentarily near the 1000 metres and again when activating the removable gear over the concluding stages.
 
Race 10 JOHN DEERE LIFESTYLE COMPACT TRACTORS MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
COOL CHANGES and ROBYN'S BAD BOY were both subjected to pre race veterinary examinations and cleared to start.
TACT TATE over raced through the early stages when being restrained. This gelding was held up for clear racing room for the entirety of the home straight with horseman R McIlwrick reporting he was not afforded the opportunity to activate the removable deafeners on the gelding.
LIAM SIENNA, ANNAJODI and THE TISBURY TERROR were all held up for clear racing room at various stages of the run home.
BETTOR'S AVENUE was inclined to lay inwards over the concluding stages giving horseman C Ferguson some difficulty.
