THE CROWN JEWELS broke at the start losing ground.
SNOWFLAKE STRIDE and WINGS ON FIRE both broke racing into the first turn losing considerable ground.
GOTTA GO TWINKLE broke passing the 1900 metres, losing its chance.
SNOWFLAKE STRIDE broke passing the 1600 metres losing its chance.
LADY J broke approaching the 200 metres. An investigation established that GOSIMONGO (P. Butcher) gave ground quickly in the lead entering the home straight which resulted in an easing of the pace with LA MAITRE DIX (J. Dickie) being impeded back on to LADY J (T. Mitchell). As a result LADY J broke when full of running and lost its chance after striking the back of the sulky of LA MAITRE DIX.
Driver D Moore was shown the video coverage of the start and warned to make a greater effort to get AWA CATHRINE into its correct unruly barrier position.

ACE MOMENT gave ground rounding the final bend.
GINTARAS was badly inconvenienced by the breaking THE ALMIGHTY JOHNSON and the tiring ACE MOMENT.

SHARDON'S PEARL broke racing towards the first turn losing considerable ground.
OUR SUPER RAM broke passing the 500 metres losing its chance. A warning was placed on this gelding's racing manners record.
GETAWAY DOUG broke approaching the 300 metres.

A Minor Infringement Notice was issued and a $50.00 fine imposed on Trainer R Dunn for the late notification of the change of gear for MISS DAISY, the filly raced without the notified pacifier.
MISS DAISY hung in the score up.
BLUE EYED CREATION and HAPPY TO GO contested the lead rounding the first bend. BLUE EYED CREATION , when racing on the outside of HAPPY TO GO, paced roughly and momentarily hung in resulting in the front legs of HAPPY TO GO being contacted by the sulky wheel of BLUE EYED CREATION. BLUE EYED CREATION weakened from inside the 600 metres finishing well back. A post-race veterinary examination of BLUE EYED CREATION revealed no abnormalities. Drivers S. Lawson (BLUE EYED CREATION) and S. Phelan (HAPPY TO GO) were questioned and Stewards reviewed the video coverage. No action was taken other than to place a warning on the racing manners record of BLUE EYED CREATION.
Driver J. Dickie was cautioned in regard to contacting pylons and allowing the wheel of his sulky to protrude inside the marker line prior to the entrance to the passing lane with MAJESTIC JOHN.
