Due to an administration error THE EARTH MOVED was incorrectly shown as a scratching from Race 4 from 5.00pm on Saturday 16 May on the TAB website. This horse was reinstated at 7.30am this morning with the approval of HRNZ. This information was disseminated through the appropriate channels.

Race 1 BISHOPDALE/BUSH INN TABS & TAVERN HAREWOOD MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
STANS DAY broke at the start losing several lengths. STANS DAY was placed on the unruly for future mobile starts.
FRANCO NARTISCAPE paced roughly in the early stages.
With 2100 metres to run STYLISH BABE and MUSIC were forced to race wider on the track when improving to the outside of SCANRECO BAY. Amateur driver A Edge admitted a charge under Rule 869(4)(6)(b)(c) in that he had breached the Push Out Rule. After considering submissions on penalty the JCA imposed a fine of $200.
SMOKIN CHICK gave ground near the 500 metres with the trailing MUSIC, CAESAR ROCKS, ROCK TILL YOU DROP and ROME all being held up.
With 1100 metres to run SPECIAL DELIGHT was forced to race wider when improving to the outside of NIC MAC WILLY. Amateur driver D Reardon admitted a charge under Rule 869(4)(6)(b)(c) in that he had breached the Push Out Rule. After considering submissions on penalty the JCA imposed a fine of $200.
ROCK TILL YOU DROP hung inwards and struck pylons on the home turn.
Stewards questioned drivers J McDermott (STYLISH BABE), D Reardon (NIC MAC WILLY), S Manawatu (GRACIOUS STAR) and R Reekie (FRANCO NARTISCAPE) regarding an incident near the 250 metres when NIC MAC WILLY was checked with the trailing ELUSIVE FLIGHT being hampered. It was established that NIC MAC WILLY had been hanging inwards simultaneously to STYLISH BABE and FRANCO NARTISCAPE, both shifting outwards marginally. After considering the matter drivers McDermott and Reekie were both issued with warnings to make a greater effort to maintain a straight course.
 
Race 2 MONARCHY TROT Video  Video 
JANA'S WISHES, CIRCUS BOY and CICADA JENERIK all broke at the start.
PLAYBOY'S BROTHER was slow to begin.
Driver C McKay (PLAYBOY'S BROTHER) briefly dropped his foot from the sulky rest when negotiating the first bend.
PLAYBOY'S BROTHER over raced in the middle stages.
CICADA JENERIK broke again with 1600 metres to run.
DARK OPS gave ground from the 900 metres. A warning was placed on the filly's racing performance.
PLAYBOY'S BROTHER commenced to give ground with 800 metres to run causing NO FEARS to be held up for some distance. A warning was placed on the racing performance of PLAYBOY'S BROTHER.
NO FEARS broke near the 700 metres.
N Williamson as the driver of DE VITO advised Stewards that he did not activate the removable gear as his gelding was trotting roughly over the concluding stages.
 
Race 3 PGG WRIGHTSON MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
Driver A Hastie (SWEET SENORA) dropped his foot from the sulky footrest with 600 metres to run when activating the removable gear.
ANNA KAREEM hung inwards and paced roughly on the final bend and continued to hang inwards throughout the run home. Driver B Orange reported that the gelding had been resenting the boring pole.
 
Race 4 MORRISONS SADDLERY & FEED TROT Video  Video 
LITTLE BRO and TROUBLE ADO broke at the start.
ILLUSTRIOUS QUEEN was obliged to race three wide without cover from the 1600 metres.
ILLUSTRIOUS QUEEN broke with 600 metres to run.
ALVIRA HEST broke rounding the final bend.
MUM BEAT LYALL broke near the 300 metres and shifted outwards hampering THE ZIGMEISTER and PETERHOF.
BERKSHIRE SON was removed from the unruly for future standing starts.
 
Race 5 ONE SMART COFFEE MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
LETS GO FREDDY hung outwards in the score up.
MISS STELLA, GUNPOWDER and LETS GO FREDDY raced wide in the early stages.
Stewards investigated a perceived breach of the push out rule near the 1200 metres when JAYEES SUPREME shifted outwards forcing LETS GO FREDDY to race wider on the track. After viewing the replays Stewards were satisfied that LETS GO FREDDY was not progressing forward at the time and no further action was required.
DESIRABLE STYX (T Lethaby) was held up near the 500 metres when racing between LETS GO FREDDY and BUSCEMI. Mr Lethaby was shown a replay in the presence of senior horseman J Lethaby and warned for the manner he drove when attempting to improve his position when insufficient room existed.
PURE GRIT weakened on the home turn and struck a pylon.
MISS STELLA, BUSCEMI and LETS GO FREDDY also gave ground on the final bend.
GLITZY GAL paced roughly on the final bend losing ground.
GLITZY GAL was held up for clear racing room and struck several pylons in the home straight before being angled outwards in search of clear running. Stewards questioned D Dunn regarding the tactics he adopted from the 300 metres. Mr Dunn explained that at the entrance to the home straight he committed himself to a run in the passing lane after the trailing LILLY JONES had commenced to shift outwards leaving the final bend however LILLY JONES then shifted into the passing lane near the 200 metres in advance of him which resulted in GLITZY GAL being held up. After viewing the replays and hearing Mr Dunn's explanation, Stewards were of the opinion that the tactics of Mr Dunn were not unreasonable in the circumstances and took the matter no further.
Mr Dunn (GLITZY GAL) was issued with a warning for attempting to improve his position to the inside LILLY JONES when insufficient room existed near the 100 metres.
 
Race 6 PORT FM HANDICAP TROT Video  Video 
SANTORINI SUNSET was examined and cleared by the Veterinary Surgeon at the start after sustaining a small cut to its mouth.
ONE OVER DA MOON broke at the start losing considerable ground.
SANTORINI SUNSET broke rounding the first bend and refused to settle for some distance.
HARRYSUL was held up for clear racing room on the final bend and in the early stages of the run home.
 
Race 7 LIS MARA PACE Video  Video 
AUTOMATIC swung sideways as the start was effected before recovering quickly.
SUPERSHAKES and CHAL SHOCKED broke in the early stages.
CULLENS LADY broke in the early stages hampering SHARD DIEGO and LUCY HOLMES.
THE CAD was slow to begin.
WHITNEY H over raced in the middle stages and hung outwards.
HAPPY AS LARRY was held up for clear racing room until late in the run home.
CHAL SHOCKED raced greenly over the final stages when HAPPY AS LARRY improved quickly to its inside.
Driver J Hay (WHITNEY H) was reminded of his obligations to ensure he drives his horse out fully to the finish of the race.
When questioned regarding the performance of NICKELBACK driver D Dunn explained that the filly had raced lethargically and had been disappointing. Stewards will follow up the recovery of this horse in the coming days with Trainer R Aubrey.
Authorisation of 2nd place being awarded to CULLENS LADY was withheld until it was confirmed that the mare had complied with the Breaking Horse Regulations.
Drivers G Smith (LATE MAIL) and J Hay (WHITNEY H) were warned to ensure their whip remains within the confines of the sulky.
 
Race 8 SOUTHERN WINES PACE Video  Video 
SCHWARTZ DENARIO, DROVER'S EYRE and IDOLISE broke at the start.
REGAL SUZY, TOP BRASS and ALLISON STOKKE tangled away.
FRANCO SANCHEZ broke after 100 metres when hampered by the breaking SCHWARTZ DENARIO.
BOOMER BAILEY over raced in the middle stages.
REGAL SUZY gave ground on the home turn. Stewards requested a veterinary examination of this filly which revealed a slow recovery rate with further tests recommended. Co-Trainer/Driver T Chmiel advised that he was disappointed with the effort and could offer no explanation for the run. Mr Chmiel advised that he will contact Stewards in regards to the filly's recovery in the coming days and he was advised that a veterinary clearance is required before REGAL SUZY's next start.
NOTHINGTOLAUGHABOUT paced roughly in the home straight before breaking near the 50 metres.
 
Race 9 WILLIAMSON RACING STABLES JUNIOR DRIVERS MOBILE TROT Video  Video 
SUNNIVUE SADONA raced wide in the early stages.
With 1100 metres to run HOLDON TOYASPURS was forced to race wider when improving to the outside of THE SILVER FOX. Junior driver J Ovens in the presence of senior driver C Thornley admitted a charge under Rule 869(4)(6)(b)(c) in that he had breached the Push Out Rule. After considering submissions on penalty the JCA imposed a fine of $50.
SUNNIVUE SADONA trotted roughly near the 1000 metres.
ANOTHER DELIGHT broke with 900 metres to run hampering the trailing SUNNIVUE SADONA.
SUNNIVUE SADONA gave ground from the 700 metres.
PRICE OF FAME trotted roughly near the 300 metres.
MIRI gave ground on the final bend.
 
Race 10 CHANGEOVER MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
The off-hind shoe of SECRET'S OUT was removed prior to this event.
SPIRIT OF CHRONOS over raced in the middle stages.
CHIEF KAPAI was obliged to race wide in the early and middle stages of the race.
HERETIC FRANCO and ON THE TOWN locked wheels approaching the 400 metres after PARRAMATTA improved to the outside of ON THE TOWN resulting in checks to the trailing HAPPY HEIDI, BELMONT FIRE, SECRET'S OUT, BETTER SCOOT, MIGHTY PERUVIAN and ONEDIN ONYX, with HERETIC FRANCO and ON THE TOWN losing all chance.
Stewards questioned drivers J Dunn (HERETIC FRANCO), T Chmiel (PARRAMATTA) and D Dunn (ON THE TOWN) regarding the above incident. After hearing their explanations, Mr Chmiel defended a charge under Rule 869(3)(b) in that he drove carelessly when shifting inwards crowding ON THE TOWN which in turn locked wheels with HERETIC FRANCO. After viewing the replays and hearing the evidence the JCA upheld the charge and Mr Chmiel was fined $450.
 
Race 11 FAT SALLY'S PUB & RESTAURANT MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
T McMillan was an authorised late change of driver on CRIMSON GLORY due to an administration error.
CANNDEW was a late scratching at 2.50pm after starting in Race 8.
HANDLEBAR HANK over raced in the middle stages.
AS KIWI AS, WOODLEA DJ and MACH DENARIO raced wide in the early stages.
MACH DENARIO paced roughly on the final bend and broke briefly hampering K C PEDRO with the trailing WOODLEA DJ, INDIAN ARROW and WEEDON'S EXPRESS being held up. When questioned regarding this driver M Purvis reported that the gelding had resented the track kick back.
HANDLEBAR HANK hung inwards near the 200 metres.
AS KIWI AS was held up for clear racing room in the early stages of the run home.
INDIAN ARROW was held up for clear racing room throughout the home straight.
