Race 1 THE WRIGHT DECORATOR/SILVESTER CLARK MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
GOLDEN BILLION (unruly) was back from position at dispatch.
HALSTON BROMAC raced three wide without cover from near the 1200 metres and commenced to give ground near the 600 metres.
Driver J Abernethy advised that the winner BETTORS POCKET was contacting the sulky wheel with its hind leg causing it to over-race during the middle stages when trailing the leader.
LADY MOLLY tired over the final stages.
 
Race 2 ACCOMMODATION GATEWAY MOTEL FILLIES & MARES MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
MOLLY SIMS, which had shown early gate speed to lead, broke free of interference racing into the first turn checking EVERLASTING GRACE and the trailing BREAK DANCE which both broke with BREAK DANCE being retired from the event with a broken hopple. NICOLE VAIDISOVA was also checked with the majority of the field being inconvenienced and having to take evasive action. MOLLY SIMS then gave ground over the final stages. A warning was placed against the racing manners record of MOLLY SIMS.
WONDER ANVIL was held up rounding the final bend and through the early stages of the run home.
 
Race 3 KEN FRASER MEMORIAL HANDICAP TROT Video  Video 
Trainer W Jennens was issued with a $100 Minor Infringement Notice for breaching Rule 865(2) after THE PRINCE was presented without the notified pacifier.
No claims were lodged for DRAGON LADY.
The start was delayed briefly due to the sulky wheel on RARANGI JEWEL requiring attention.
MISTRESS CASTLETON broke briefly at the start.
TWO WISHES broke approaching the first turn losing ground.
BIM BOM BAY broke for a considerable distance rounding the first bend settling at the rear.
OUR SUPER RAM broke near the 2100 metres losing considerable ground.
CONTINENTAL LOVER (leader) and THE PRINCE (outside leader) both broke leaving the back straight near the 1350 metres with CONTINENTAL LOVER failing to settle losing all chance.
GOGIRL BROMAC broke on the final turn but soon settled.
CLIFDEN CLOWERS tired over the final stages.
Authorisation of the 2nd placing of THE PRINCE was withheld until it was established that this gelding had not galloped in excess of 150 metres when breaking near the 1350 metres.
A Protest was lodged against the 4th placing of BIM BOM BAY under Rule 870(3) and the Breaking Horses Regulation on the grounds that this gelding galloped in excess of 150 metres after breaking on the first turn. The Protest was not contested by the connections and the JCA disqualified BIM BOM BAY from 4th placing with GOGIRL BROMAC and OUR SUPER RAM being promoted to 4th and 5th placing respectively.
 
Race 4 AAA FENCING MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
HANOVER ALERT underwent a veterinary examination prior to this event after Driver K More expressed concern over the manner in which the mare had completed its preliminary. HANOVER ALERT was passed fit to start.
DANA DAWN paced roughly and then hung inwards approaching the first turn.
 
Race 5 WENHAM GRAIN & SEED MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
P TOMADO was marginally back at dispatch despite the efforts of Driver N Chilcott.
P TOMADO was obliged to race three wide throughout after being unable to obtain the position outside the leader which was being held by HIT THE SPOT after that mare commenced to over-race badly. P TOMADO then shifted out under pressure and broke on straightening for the run home inconveniencing BUTE MACH for several strides.
HIT THE SPOT over-raced when outside the leader through the middle stages.
ALOTBETTOR raced fiercely leaving the back straight the final time and then broke passing the 100 metres when disappointed for a run between HIT THE SPOT and BUTE MACH. An investigation was held into this incident. After hearing the relative evidence and viewing the replays it was established that HIT THE SPOT had shifted out under pressure on the final turn and then again in the run home while BUTE MACH had shifted inwards marginally which resulted in the gap that ALOTBETTOR was attempting to improve into closing with ALOTBETTOR then breaking. After considering the matter Driver S Ottley (HIT THE SPOT) was warned for the manner in which she drove and advised that she would be expected to make a greater effort to keep her horse straight in similar circumstances in the future.
Driver A Donnelly (ALOTBETTOR) was questioned regarding the tactics she adopted in the early stages when she appeared to be content to allow THATS BETTOR to cross to the lead and then as to whether she may have been better suited to have shifted away from the marker line on entering the front straight on the first occasion after THATS BETTOR had handed up to WESTBURN COURAGE. Miss Donnelly stated that when previously pressured for gate speed shortly after the start the horse had a tendency to break from its gait and that it was a sit and sprint type. She further explained that she had considered easing out from three deep on the marker line rounding the first bend however SIKORA improved to the position outside of her wheel and from that point on she became trapped away until racing down the back the last time where she was able to shift out to the one out running line. Miss Donnelly's comments were noted.
 
Race 6 TOD SEEDS MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
A false start was declared after OHOKA BUD broke in the score up resulting in checks to the second line runners. Driver A Poutama elected to maintain his original barrier position 2. Stewards gave permission for the near side rein pricker to be removed on OHOKA BUD prior to the restart. A warning was placed on this gelding's mobile barrier manners.
OHOKA BUD was inclined to lay out during the score up at the restart.
PILOT OFFICER broke racing into the first bend losing considerable ground and was then retired from the event. A warning was placed against this gelding's racing manners.
DUNTALKIN, which was trailing the leader, paced roughly and then broke passing the 500 metres inconveniencing CUT THE CARDS and LIGHT UP BOSS. A warning was placed on this gelding's racing manners.
 
Race 7 HOME PLUS MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
No claims were lodged for FRANCO TIAGO.
STEAL A GRIN briefly raced in restricted room to the inside of MACH CRUISER, which tended to shift in, entering the first turn.
STORMY BREEZE, GWENDENE and FRANCO TIAGO raced four wide from the 900 metres.
Driver S Phelan (C A PENNY) momentarily dropped his left foot from the sulky footrest on the final turn when activating the deafeners.
 
Race 8 THE HOTEL COACHMAN MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
TENACIOUS BROMAC tended to over-race throughout the score up.
RHUBARB LANE was a length out of position at dispatch.
TENACIOUS BROMAC, which worked forward to race outside the leader early before improving to lead in the middle stages, commenced to give ground on the final turn and was taken down inside the marker line by Driver P Ferguson to avoid causing interference to trailing runners.
