Race 6 - LONE STAR RICCARTON SIRES STAKES AGED TROTTERS CLASSIC (HCP)
Trainer P Nairn has advised Stewards that blood tests taken from WATERLOO SUNSET following its disappointing run at Addington on Saturday 9th May have shown no irregularities. Mr Nairn stated that the entire was showing signs of dehydration adding that this had also occurred previously when the horse has raced during a warm day. Mr Nairn confirmed that he would continue with WATERLOO SUNSET's planned programme.

Race 1 GARRARDS SIRES STAKES SERIES No.32 SILVER MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
Permission was granted for the removable deafeners on DREAMY DAMIEN to be removed after the colt became fractious in the stable enclosure.
Despite the urgings of driver B Butt, DREAMY DAMIEN was out of position at dispatch. A warning was placed on the colt's barrier manners.
SCOTLYNN JACK had to be steadied passing the 350 metres when SPARKLING DELIGHT (G O'Reilly) shifted ground outwards. G O'Reilly was warned for the manner he had shifted ground in this incident.
Near the 300 metres ICE CRUSHER shifted ground outwards abruptly after driver B Orange had activated the removable deafeners and as a result contacted the sulky of CODE BLACK with the trailing FRANCO RAYNER and DREAMY DAMIEN being checked with DREAMY DAMIEN breaking.
A warning was placed on the racing manners of ICE CRUSHER.
 
Race 2 PGG WRIGHTSON NZ YEARLING SALES 3YO OPEN TROT FINAL (MOBILE) Video  Video 
Track conditions were downgraded to slushy.
There was a delay to the start of this race after SPRINGBANK EDEN was required to return to the stabling area to have a change of sulky.
ROCK TONIGHT broke in the score up losing all chance.
SPRINGBANK EDEN broke late in the score up losing its chance.
LOVE STRUCK ROMEO trotted roughly and was out of position at the start.
OCTOBER RAIN broke shortly after the start.
PRINCE FEARLESS over-raced when sitting parked in the middle stages.
LOVE STRUCK ROMEO broke passing the 300 metres.
GREAT THINGS HAPPEN hung inwards rounding the final bend.
 
Race 3 GARDEN CITY FLORIST HANDICAP PACE Video  Video 
TOKOHOKA was a late scratching at 10.25am with a veterinary certificate supplied.
After the barriers were released BETTY GOLIGHTLY refused to move away and swung sideways, making heavy contact with the sulky of SANS LE SOU. As a result of this contact the sulky wheel of SANS LE SOU collapsed with the mare being retired from the event. A warning was placed on the standing start record of BETTY GOLIGHTLY.
SHRIEKS OF DELIGHT and CALL ME DANNY broke as the start was effected. A warning was placed on the standing start manners of SHRIEKS OF DELIGHT.
TAKE AFTER ME broke briefly at the start.
AL'S COURAGE broke briefly near the 2200 metres.
At the 1400 metres the hind bandage on AL'S COURAGE came adrift.
Passing the 300 metres WOODLEA LEGEND broke briefly when placed in restricted room between the tiring CORINGA DELIGHT and AL'S COURAGE which hung inwards.
CALL ME DANNY was held up late in the run home.
Driver J Dunn advised he did not activate the removable gear on the winner RETURN TO SENDER.
Trainer J Gameson was issued with a minor infringement notice and fined the sum of $100.00 for failing to affix the bandages on AL'S COURAGE so as not to come adrift.
 
Race 4 WALKER DAVEY LTD FREE-FOR-ALL MOBILE TROT Video  Video 
UNCAS broke in the score up and was out of position at dispatch.
WATERLOO SUNSET paced and then broke late in the score up slightly inconveniencing CLOVER DON and ALLEY WAY.
VULCAN hung inwards and struck several markers rounding the final bend.
The off-side hind bandage on MASTER LAVROS came adrift over the concluding stages.
Stewards investigated a perceived breach of the Push Out Rule passing the 2300 metres when CLOVER DON (C DeFilippi) shifted outwards forcing JACCKA JUSTY (J Cox) to race three wide momentarily. After hearing from driver J Cox, it was established at the time CLOVER DON had commenced its movement outwards JACCKA JUSTY was not progressing forwards and no further action was required.
Trainer M Jones was issued with a minor infringement notice and fined the sum of $100.00 for failing to affix the bandages on MASTER LAVROS so as not to come adrift.
 
Race 5 PGG WRIGHTSON NZ YEARLING SALES 2YO FILLIES FINAL (MOBILE) Video  Video 
A pre-race veterinary examination was carried out on KASHANA after the filly had kicked out and got its hind leg caught on the running rail, with the filly being cleared to start.
SEM'S DELIGHT and CHAMPAGNE REIGN broke as the start was effected with BETTOR LOVE ME and LAURAGRACE being inconvenienced. Warnings were placed on the mobile barrier manners of both SEM'S DELIGHT and CHAMPAGNE REIGN.
LAURAGRACE was inclined to hang out and race greenly near the 1200 metres.
CHAMPAGNE REIGN broke again passing the 900 metres.
KILLER QUEEN was held up in the middle stages of the run home.
Driver D Butcher (KILLER QUEEN) dropped his foot momentarily in the run home.
Trainers C and J DeFilippi were issued with a minor infringement notice and fined the sum of $100.00 for presenting CHAMPAGNE REIGN to race in an unwarranted sulky.
 
Race 6 TREVINOS RESTAURANT & BAR WINTER CUP (HANDICAP) Video  Video 
HIGHVIEW ANWELL and ONEDIN MACH tangled away, while BORDER CONTROL, LANCEWOOD LIZZIE and TE KAWAU all broke as the start was effected.
IDEAL SUCCESS broke near the 300 metres before settling and then broke briefly again passing the 200 metres.
TE KAWAU shifted in abruptly passing the 50 metres with LANCEWOOD LIZZIE having to be steadied.
ONEDIN MACH shifted ground in the run home. Driver D Dunn was reminded of his obligations to maintain a straight course in the run home.
Driver R May (JASON RULZ) was reminded of his obligations regards starting in the correct barrier position.
Trainers G and N Hope were issued with a minor infringement notice and fined the sum of $100.00 for failing to affix the bandages on JASON RULZ so as not to come adrift.
Co-trainer M Purdon (BORDER CONTROL) advised he will have blood tests taken from the gelding and report the findings to the Stewards in the coming days.
 
Race 7 LONE STAR RICCARTON SIRES STAKES 2YO TROTTERS CHAMPS(MOBILE) Video  Video 
THE FOX over-raced in the score up.
MOTU GREAT SENSATION was slightly back at the start in barrier 5.
DARK OPS and GERSHWIN broke as the start was effected with this inconveniencing HIGH GAIT and HE'S LIKE THE WIND on the second row resulting in HE'S LIKE THE WIND breaking.
THE FOX over-raced in the middle stages.
CYCLONE CHIEF broke briefly passing the 900 metres.
MOTU GREAT SENSATION and CYCLONE CHIEF tired from the 400 metres.
MARCOOLA broke passing the 350 metres inconveniencing HE'S LIKE THE WIND.
GERSHWIN was held up in the initial stages of the run home and then broke when awkwardly positioned behind the tiring THE FOX passing the 70 metres.
Driver S McCaffrey (GERSHWIN) dropped his leg momentarily in the run home.
DARK OPS was placed on the unruly for future mobile starts at the request of trainer A Clark.
Driver J Dunn (MOTU GREAT SENSATION) admitted a breach of Rule 862(2) in that he had started in the incorrect barrier position. After hearing submissions on penalty the JCA imposed a fine of $250.
GERSHWIN under-went a post-race veterinary examination after returning to the stabling enclosure with blood present in its mouth with this revealing the colt to have a small laceration.
 
Race 8 THE BREEDERS NEW ZEALAND OAKS (MOBILE PACE) Video  Video 
A veterinary certificate was received for SMOKIN BIRD.
START DREAMING slipped its over-check bit at the 2300 metres when over-racing.
KATY PERRY was obliged to race wide through the early stages.
SMOKIN BIRD had to be steadied when racing keenly near the 1900 metres.
BETTER B AMAZED had to be steadied momentarily passing the 350 metres when awkwardly placed behind SUPERSONIC MISS.
THE ORANGE AGENT lay inwards over the concluding stages and had to be steadied when racing to the outside of DEMOCRAT PARTY which had shifted ground outwards marginally.
SMOKIN BIRD returned to the stable enclosure with blood present in the right nostril. An endoscopic examination deemed the filly to be a bleeder. The filly was stood down for the mandatory 30 days and must also trial on one occasion. A veterinary clearance will be required prior to the filly resuming.
Trainer B Purdon was issued with a minor infringement notice and fined the sum of $100.00 for failing to affix the bandages on DEMOCRAT PARTY so as not to come adrift.
 
Race 9 GARRARDS NZ SIRES STAKES SOPHOMORE CLASSIC (MOBILE PACE) Video  Video 
LIVURA over-raced near the 1300 metres.
BRILLIANT STRIKE and PRINCE OF POPS briefly locked wheels passing the 600 metres.
Driver S Golding (USAIN COLT) advised he had received a punctured sulky tyre during the running.
Driver B Orange (LIVURA) advised only one hopple shortener activated after the cord became entangled.
Trainer R Green was issued with a minor infringement notice and fined the sum of $100.00 for failing to affix the bandages on CHACHINGCHACHING so as not to come adrift.

Driver M McKendry (SHANDALE) dropped his foot momentarily passing the 1350 metres.
CHICAGO BULL brushed pylons near the 900 metres.
MACH TIME lay inwards rounding the final bend striking several markers.
Driver D Dunn (THREE WAYS) advised he had elected to leave the hopple shorteners in after the colt had paced roughly through the initial stages.
 
Race 11 MORTLOCK McCORMACK LAW MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
THE FAITHFUL paced roughly, propped and broke momentarily passing the 1500 metres severely checking NIKOLA and MR FRANKLIN with the trailing EVA SOPHNALLY, K C MONET and STARSKY'S DREAM all having to be steadied.
STARSKY'S DREAM raced wide when improving near the 1400 metres.
GRADUATE UNDER FIRE over-raced and broke briefly when there was an easing of the pace near the 1200 metres.
NIKOLA was held up by the tiring THE FAITHFUL rounding the final bend.
When questioned regarding the performance of THE FAITHFUL, driver Z Butcher advised the gelding had failed to handle the prevailing track conditions.
When questioned regarding the improved performance of PROVOCATIVE PRINCE, the connections advised the horse had been getting too far back in its previous races and had appreciated racing closer to the pace.
