Race Comments
Race 1 WOODVALE FRIESIANS MOBILE PACE Video  Video
GOLDEN BILLION starting from the unruly position was two lengths out of position at the start.
HVAR commenced to give ground passing the 800 metres badly hampering the trailing OUTA THE FRIDGE. A post race veterinary examination revealed that HVAR was showing signs of respiratory distress but recovered quickly to be breathing normally and that otherwise no abnormalities were found. Trainer G Small advised that this horse would be turned out for a spell.
BEACON HILL weakened inside the last 400 metres and paced roughly passing the 200 metres.
Stewards reviewed the video coverage with Driver S Abernethy in regard to his drive on RIMUTOTO PRINCE when he attempted to improve his position from four deep on the running line outward inside of JACK BATES (P Ferguson) inside the 1000 metres. Mr Abernethy attempted this manoeuvre when not having sufficient advantage on Mr Ferguson's horse JACK BATES which resulted in RIMUTOTO PRINCE racing in restricted room for some distance inside JACK BATES and outside of OUTA THE FRIDGE. Stewards reminded Mr Abernethy to exercise greater care.

Race 2 R S FLOOR COATINGS HANDICAP TROT Video  Video
No claims were lodged for DRAGON LADY.
ELSU ATTACK broke at the start losing ground.
THE PRINCE broke at the start and again entering the first bend losing considerable ground.
OUR SUPER RAM broke near the 2200 metres and trailed the field.
CONTINENTAL LOVER broke near the 500 metres when in the trail behind the leader which momentarily inconvenienced MISTRESS CASTLETON.
Driver S Abernethy advised that he did not activate the removable deafeners on the winner DRAGON LADY.

Race 3 O'FEE & ASSOCIATES MOBILE PACE Video  Video
GO GIRL paced roughly and tangled for several strides shortly after the start.
RUEBE ROCK STAR broke racing into the first bend when racing to the inside of WHISKY AN FRISKY, which was inclined to lay in. This resulted in GO GIRL being taken wider on the track when having to take evasive action.
GO GIRL was then caught three wide over the early and middle stages of the race before being pulled up by Driver N Chilcott with a flat tyre on its offside sulky wheel.
HIGHVIEW LINDA failed to maintain contact with the field from inside the 600 metres.
WHISKY AN FRISKY broke free of interference when racing outside the leader passing the 200 metres resulting in a severe check to RUEBE ROCK STAR with SHANSDELIGHT taking evasive action. A warning was placed on WHISKY AN FRISKY's racing manners.
Driver G Small advised that RUEBE ROCK STAR was racing in tight quarters racing into the first bend but did not fully attribute his colt breaking to WHISKY AN FRISKY racing on its outside as his horse was having its first start and reacted greenly.

Race 4 INNES DEAN TARARUA LAW MOBILE PACE Video  Video
CHEVRON QUALITY paced roughly and broke racing into the first bend.
RHUBARB LANE broke approaching the 2100 metres taking some time to settle and broke again passing the 600 metres.

Race 5 REMAX/PAULINE BROWN MOBILE PACE Video  Video
A Minor Infringement Notice was issued and a $100 fine was imposed on Trainer B Weaver for presenting GABBY'S KNIGHT without the notified blinds.
No claims were lodged for WESTBURN COURAGE.
BRAINSTORMER raced three wide for the first 600 metres before crossing to race outside the leader.
MACH CULLEN was held up rounding the final bend and over the early stages of the run home until near the 100 metres.

Race 6 ALLAN MCNEILL CHARTERED ACCOUNTANTS/MEDIAWORKS MOBILE PACE Video  Video
MACH CRUISER from its wide barrier draw worked hard early to reach the lead 500 metres after the start.
MACH CRUISER weakened inside the 700 metres and finished well back.
An investigation was held into a check received by STARRY DELIGHT (J Abernethy) passing the 250 metres when racing in tight quarters inside MAJOR CHANGE (B Butcher) and outside SEA MC (G Small) with the latter horse improving outward from the running line. It was established that MAJOR CHANGE was laying in throughout rounding the final bend and contributed to the incident and no further action was taken other than to advise Driver G Small to exercise greater care.

Race 7 BETTOR'S DELIGHT FILLIES & MARES MOBILE MILE SERIES Video  Video
A Minor Infringement Notice was issued and a $100 fine imposed on Trainer B Weaver for presenting MISS BADLANDS without the notified blinds.
EVERLASTING GRACE was held up early on the final turn.
Driver J Abernethy advised that he did not activate the removable deafeners on C A PENNY.

Race 8 DOUG BRADLEY PAINTERS MOBILE PACE Video  Video
OHOKA BUD after racing outside the leader gave ground quickly inside the last 500 metres. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
Junior Horseman B Butcher with the assistance of Senior Horseman P Ferguson was shown the video coverage of his drive on PLAYAWAY and warned to exercise greater care when he attempted to shift inward to race on the back of GOD'S DELIGHT in a three wide position passing the 600 metres which resulted in his mare contacting the wheel of the sulky of GOD'S DELIGHT.
