Trainer M Saunders advised following the disappointing performance FRANCO SANTIAGO would be given a short spell.

Trainer T Cleave has advised Stewards that following its disappointing performance IGOTTASTAR was found to be showing the early signs of a virus and has been treated accordingly.

Race 1 ST KILDA DARTS SOCIAL CLUB TROT Video  Video 
STARGOSDAUGHTER was examined by the Veterinarian prior to the start and cleared to race.
SEA EYRE, SUNSTAR, KILMORICH, BOYZ LET LOOSE, DE VITO and BIG IS GOOD all broke at the start or over the early stages. SEA EYRE, SUNSTAR and KILMORICH all lost a considerable amount of ground with KILMORICH being retired from the event.
STARGOSDAUGHTER struck pylons with 750 metres to run when under pressure near the back of the field.
With approximately 350 metres to run GRACE O'MALLEY (P Hunter) attempted to improve on the inside of STRATHSPEY BOY (A Kyle) which was commencing to tire with GRACE O'MALLEY striking several pylons. GRACE O'MALLEY then broke approaching the 250 metre mark.
With 150 metres to run DE VITO broke with the trailing ONE COOL CHICK briefly being inconvenienced.
Following this event the Stewards questioned Drivers A Kyle (STRATHSPEY BOY) and P Hunter (GRACE O'MALLEY) regarding the breaking of GRACE O'MALLEY. After hearing from both horsemen and viewing the replays of the incident it was established that GRACE O'MALLEY had attempted to improve inside STRATHSPEY BOY near the 400 metre mark when there was sufficient room. Simultaneously as GRACE O'MALLEY had improved to the inside of STRATHSPEY BOY, STRATHSPEY BOY had shifted inwards with Driver A Kyle immediately taking corrective action. Mr Hunter advised the Stewards that GRACE O'MALLEY had cleared STRATHSPEY BOY and broke on its own accord shortly afterwards. After hearing from both horsemen no further action was required other than to advise Mr Hunter to exercise caution when shifting into a marginal gap in future circumstances.
STRATHSPEY BOY was removed from the unruly for future stands at the request of Trainer A Kyle.
 
Race 2 G J GARDNERS MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
HOKURI HANGOVER which drew the unruly position was back off the gate by approximately 5 lengths at the dispatch point.
HOKURI HANGOVER continued to hang throughout the running most noticeably on the bends.
ROSTRIEVER VICTORY was caught wide without cover through the early stages.
NORTHVIEW HANOVER raced keenly through the middle stages.
MAN I'M GOOD became awkwardly placed passing the 600 metre mark and had to be restrained by driver A Kyle.
BULLYS PRINCESS was held up on the final bend.
HOKURI HANGOVER when improving in the passing lane hung inwards striking pylons.
Driver A Kyle (MAN I'M GOOD) was spoken to advisedly and warned under Rule 869(3)(b) regarding the manner in which he drove when shifting ground near the 600 metre mark.
SHEZ WICKED was subjected to a post race veterinary examination after Driver J Harrington advised that the mare felt sore upon pulling up. The examination failed to reveal any abnormalities with the mare.
The Stewards also requested a veterinary examination of NORTHVIEW HANOVER following this race which revealed no abnormalities.
Starter W Ferguson was shown a replay of the early stages of the score up and spoken to in relation to the speed of the mobile barrier when several runners had to be sharply restrained.
 
Race 3 KEEP IT CLEAN HANDICAP TROT Video  Video 
After approximately 300 metres STARLIGHT STARBRIGHT broke with CHIOLA BELLE also breaking at this stage when attempting to steer around the breaking STARLIGHT STARBRIGHT.
LE GARCON commenced to give ground from the 800 metre mark with the trailing MOON COUNTESS being held up.
Passing the 100 metre mark ANOTHERSUPERSTAR broke before settling near the 50 metre mark.
 
Race 4 DUNEDIN HOLIDAY PARK PACE Video  Video 
SPINYBACK, MISTER ZEUS, FRANCO TEXAS and OHOKA D C all broke at the start.
HEZ ONLY THE LONELY briefly locked wheels with the breaking FUZZY MUZZA shortly after the start.
SPINYBACK and TARANTO were both held up on the final bend. TARANTO then had to shift ground outwards in the home straight for clear racing room.
Just short of the winning post O'GARA had to be restrained when becoming awkwardly placed between THE EDGE OF REASON and FRANCO TEXAS.
 
Race 5 SPEIGHTS MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
After approximately 200 metres MACY BLUE CHIP (T Chmiel) had to be restrained when placed in tight quarters racing into the first bend when LUCKY LANDS (R McIlwrick) was improving to the lead.
ELUSIVE FLIGHT made the first bend awkwardly and paced roughly for several strides.
After improving to the lead shortly after the start LUCKY LANDS commenced to over race. LUCKY LANDS then commenced to give ground sharply from the 600 metre mark.
MACHRIE, MACY BLUE CHIP and HIGHLAND REIGN were all held up on the final bend.
HIGHLAND REIGN brushed pylons just prior to the home straight.
MACHRIE was further held up through the early stages of the run home.
The Stewards requested a veterinary examination of LUCKY LANDS following this race with no abnormalities detected.
The Stewards questioned Junior horseman R McIlwrick in the presence of his employer Mr N Williamson regarding the manner he drove during the early and middle stages of the race. Mr McIlwrick advised that LUCKY LANDS had over raced after he had driven it forward over the early stages. He further advised that he had attempted to restrain the gelding however it had failed to respond resulting in the gelding tiring over the final 700 metres. After hearing from Mr McIlwrick the Stewards opened and adjourned an enquiry in relation to the manner in which he drove. Mr McIlwrick was however warned regarding the manner he drove over the early stages when improving to the lead which resulted in MACY BLUE CHIP (T Chmiel) having to be restrained.
 
Race 6 STUNIN CULLEN FORBURY SPRINT SERIES (HEAT 1) MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
BILLY KLONDIKE broke in the score up and missed the start by several lengths.
MATAI VISION also broke prior to the start.
VEGA SICILIA paced roughly near the dispatch point and broke.
Racing into the first bend VEGA SICILIA and MATAI VISION raced in tight quarters with VEGA SICILIA brushing several pylons. MATAI VISION then had to be restrained when ONE OUT OF FOUR shifted ground in front of MATAI VISION. Driver J W Cox (ONE OUT OF FOUR) was warned pursuant to Rule 869(3)(b) for the manner he drove when shifting ground when not sufficiently clear of MATAI VISION.
MATAI VISION hung inwards near the 750 metre mark and again prior to the home bend with Driver N Williamson advising the Stewards that MATAI VISION had paced roughly throughout.
 
Race 7 PRYDES EASIFEED HANDICAP TROT Video  Video 
ELTSUNAMI and SCARLETT LANE broke at the start.
BEYOND A JOKE also broke at the start then shifted out sharply severely checking CITY COURAGE, GOLDEN GATE and ELTSUNAMI with all these runners losing their chance. BEYOND A JOKE was subsequently placed on the Unruly for future standing start events and a warning was placed on its barrier manners.
MAIDOFDIAMONDS commenced to give ground from the 800 metre mark.
CHEEKY PAT broke passing the 600 metre mark.
LIMA LAD broke at the 400 metre mark.
With 200 metres to run CONTINENTAL BOY shifted inwards sharply and broke after Driver B McLellan activated the removable deafeners. CONTINENTAL BOY shifted inside the pylons for approximately 40 metres before shifting back onto the track.
MUM BEAT LYALL broke after passing the 100 metre mark before returning to its correct gait just prior to the finish line.
The Stewards lodged a Protest against fourth placing being awarded to MUM BEAT LYALL pursuant to Rule 870(4)(a) and the Breaking Horse Regulations. After viewing the replays and hearing evidence from the Stewards and A Malcolmson the Protest was upheld and MUM BEAT LYALL was disqualified from fourth placing with CONTINENTAL BOY being promoted to fourth.
The Stewards then further withheld the fourth placing being awarded to the promoted CONTINENTAL BOY after CONTINENTAL BOY had broken near the 200 metre mark and shifted inside the pylons. After viewing the replays the Stewards were satisfied that CONTINENTAL BOY had not broken in excess of 50 metres. The Stewards also took into consideration Rule 869(7B)(b) which states that any horse which races inside the pylons in excess of 30 metres shall be disqualified unless the horse did not gain any advantage from the breach in its finishing place or position. After viewing the replays the Stewards were satisfied that although CONTINENTAL BOY had raced inside the pylons in excess of 30 metres no advantage had been gained and fourth placing being awarded to CONTINENTAL BOY was authorised.
Following this race Driver N Williamson was examined by the on course St John ambulance staff after he received a knock to his hand when CITY COURAGE was checked over the early stages. N Williamson was cleared to drive after the hand was found to be swollen with no significant injury detected.
 
Race 8 GOLDEN GIRLS SOUTHLAND SERIES (HEAT 3) MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
BOOTIE BROMAC hung in the score up.
KIWI FOCUS hung inwards striking pylons near the 1250 metre mark.
SICILIAN SECRET raced keenly in the parked position through the middle stages.
DONNAMACH hung inwards when improving its position three wide near the 500 metre mark.
KIWI FOCUS was held up round the final bend.
STAR SINGER struck several pylons when racing to the inside of SICILIAN SECRET which was hanging inwards under pressure.
Near the 200 metre mark BOOTIE BROMAC broke when attempting to shift into the passing lane with this runner failing to settle. Trainer K Larsen was advised that BOOTIE BROMAC was on a final warning in relation to its racing manners.
 
Race 9 JUST ESSENCE CATERING HANDICAP PACE Video  Video 
SHEEZA SHARK broke at the start and failed to settle for a considerable distance losing its chance.
ONEDIN MACH bounded away for several strides.
ONEDIN MACH hung when improving three wide passing the 1000 metre mark. ONEDIN MACH also hung inwards rounding the final bend.
LILAC DESIRE, MILLIGAN and HIGHVIEW ANWELL were all held up on the final bend.
LILAC DESIRE and MILLIGAN were both denied clear racing room throughout the home straight with both these runners going to the line untested by their respective drivers.
When questioned regarding the improved performance of HIGHVIEW ANWELL stable representative A Hoffman advised that HIGHVIEW ANWELL had been trialing well in the lead up to this evening's race and had appreciated the considerable drop in class from its previous races this campaign.
 
Race 10 WASHINGTON VC MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
VENETO and HANDLEBAR HANK were caught wide over the early stages.
THEMAILMAN was caught wide throughout the race.
HANDLEBAR HANK raced keenly in the parked position over the middle stages.
VENETO and HANDLEBAR HANK both tired on the final bend with DRIVE THE DREAM being severely held up at this stage.
DRIVE THE DREAM was further held up in the run home.
When questioned regarding the performance of BETTORDEAN Driver M Williamson advised that the gelding had failed to respond over the final stages due to the quick tempo of this evening's race.
 
Race 11 THE PARK FUNCTION CENTRE CLAIMERS MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
JERRY FITZ was caught wide in the early stages while improving to the parked position with 1600 metres to run.
TAIERI WINGS gave ground from the 700 metre mark.
JUSTOCLASSIE failed to gain clear racing room through the early stages of the home straight before shifting into the passing lane.
SCANRECO BAY was claimed by lot by A Edge and B Ryan.
