Race 2 - BISHOPDALE/BUSH INN TABS NZ AMATEUR DRIVERS MOBILE PACE
Trainer R Holmes reported to Stewards that LURAH, which had raced disappointingly, had blood tests taken and the results showed no abnormality. Mr Holmes advised that he would continue with the current preparation with LURAH.
Race 8 - RHRC CANTERBURY COUNTRY CUPS SERIES FINAL (HCP)
The connections of EASTWOOD CHIEFTAIN have advised Stewards that blood tests revealed that the gelding was suffering from a respiratory infection. Notwithstanding this, they were of the opinion that EASTWOOD CHIEFTAIN will derive benefit from the run.
Trainer M Jones has reported to Stewards that following its disappointing performance, JOHNNY FOX had blood tests taken with these tests failing to reveal any abnormality. Subsequent to those blood tests, further testing revealed a lung infection which has necessitated treatment. Consequently JOHNNY FOX has been withdrawn from its intended engagement this weekend and will be scoped in the coming week. Mr Jones added that when recovered the gelding will be attending trials before its next raceday appearance.

Race 1 DAKINS GROUP MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
CHRISTIAN LADY and YIPPE KI YAY locked wheels for some distance after 200 metres.
OLDE OAKE ARNIE tired on the final bend with the trailing CHRISTIAN LADY being held up.
YIPPE KI YAY was held up near the 300 metres by the tiring SHEZ WICKED.
LOVETODREAM hung inwards rounding the home turn and in the home straight.
CHRISTIAN LADY hung inwards in the early stages of the run home.
Driver T Williams advised that he did not activate the removable deafeners on the winner LOVETODREAM due to the filly's hanging tendencies in the run home.
P McClelland as the driver of CHRISTIAN LADY admitted a breach of Rule 862(2) in that he started from the incorrect position when drawn unruly. After viewing the films and hearing submissions on penalty the JCA imposed a fine of $200.
When questioned regarding the performance of SMACKWATER JACK, driver R Close was of the opinion that the gelding had failed to handle the distance of the race.
 
Race 2 J D & E A PROPERTIES HANDICAP TROT Video  Video 
TOUT NOIR broke at the start losing considerable ground.
TOUT NOIR struck pylons with 1500 metres to run.
ZACHARY BINX broke with 200 metres to run.
Driver G Smith (AILE ROUGE) was warned to ensure he leaves full access to the passing lane for trailing runners.
When questioned regarding the performance of SOL INVICTUS, driver D Dunn could offer no explanation and was disappointed with the effort. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
Race 3 FARMLANDS MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
GUNPOWDER hung outwards shortly after the start.
CLIVE was trapped wide throughout the early stages before reaching the lead with 1900 metres to run.
LISTENTOTHEMUSIC gave ground from the 500 metres hampering the trailing AGNES DE GEROLSTEIN. When spoken to regarding the performance of LISTENTOTHEMUSIC, co-trainer T Chmiel reported that the horse had travelled lethargically throughout and had disappointed. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed no abnormalities. Mr Chmiel advised that he would have blood tests taken from LISTENTOTHEMUSIC in the coming days and would advise Stewards of anything which may come to light which could explain the performance.
GUNPOWDER hung outwards throughout the home straight.
Driver L O'Reilly (CLIVE) was warned to make a better effort to keep the passing lane clear at all times in the home straight.
Driver W Higgs reported that he was unable to activate the sliding blinds on ZENA MAC due to the cord becoming entangled.
When questioned regarding the performance of RECIPE FOR DREAMING driver D Dunn was of the opinion that the colt had failed to handle the 2600 metres of today's race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
Race 4 GULLIVER & TYLER MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
GRACIOUS STAR was a late scratching at 10am with a veterinary certificate supplied.
BEST DEFENCE paced roughly in the early stages.
BETABCOOL over-raced when being restrained to take a trail after 300 metres.
BEST DEFENCE was held up in the early stages of the run home.
When spoken to regarding the performance of LISLORD, trainer/driver N McGrath reported that after improving in the middle stages from the rear of the field to race parked, the effort had taken its toll on the horse. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
Race 5 GOODWIN CONTRACTING LTD FFA MOBILE TROT Video  Video 
UNCAS over-raced in the early stages when being restrained to the rear of the field.
KING OF STRATHFIELD and UNCAS both trotted roughly in the home straight with UNCAS being unable to be driven out by driver J Dunn.
DIXIE COMMANDO struck a pylon on the final bend.
MAJESTIC TIME broke with 250 metres to run. When questioned regarding this driver K Barron reported that the mare had broken after racing keenly on the final bend.
 
Race 6 RANGIORA RSA MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
TOKOHOKA and BLINGITON raced wide in the early stages.
FRANCO NEESON and FRANCO HARRISON struck pylons with 1100 metres to run.
GYRATE, FRANCO HARRISON and NIC MAC WILLY were held up in the early stages of the run home.
LITTLE TESS was held up for clear racing room until late in the run home.
 
Race 7 WAI EYRE FARM RANGIORA CLASSIC (MOBILE PACE) Video  Video 
LEWY RISK raced keenly in the middle stages.
VIBHUTI raced greenly approaching the 800 metres when being challenged for the lead by LEWY RISK and hung outwards contacting the sulky wheel of LEWY RISK resulting in VIBHUTI breaking and checking the trailing PASS THEM BY and TIJUANA BROMAC. JASON RULZ, BELKMYSTER, AL RAZA, PEMBERTON SHARD and BRILLIANT STRIKE were also inconvenienced in this incident.
A warning was placed on the racing manners of VIBHUTI. Trainer/driver B Mangos advised he would be making gear changes prior to racing next.
Driver T Chmiel advised that the sliding blinds on QUICK AS A TRICK did not fully activate.
 
Race 8 KOTARE DOWNS RANGIORA 3YO STAKES (MOBILE PACE) Video  Video 
TOOT TOOT paced roughly and broke briefly racing into the first bend.
BRACKEN RIDGE and LIGHTFINGERED raced wide in the early stages.
JUST BEN over-raced in the middle stages.
Approaching the 1100 metres BRACKEN RIDGE (B Orange) shifted inwards checking LIGHTFINGERED which broke resulting in the trailing JUST BEN also breaking and CHANGEOVER A FLYIN being inconvenienced. Driver B Orange admitted a breach of Rule 869(3)(b) in that he drove carelessly when allowing BRACKEN RIDGE to shift inwards when not clear. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty, the JCA imposed a fine of $300.
Near the 500 metres THE MANIPULATOR (T Williams) shifted inwards and locked wheels with BRACKEN RIDGE resulting in BRACKEN RIDGE breaking with the trailing TOOT TOOT, CHANGEOVER A FLYIN and EXPRESSO MARTINI all being checked. Driver T Williams admitted a breach of Rule 869(3)(b) in that he drove carelessly causing the above incident. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty, the JCA imposed a fine of $350.
USAIN COLT briefly hung inwards into the passing lane early in the run home before being corrected by driver R May.
GIMMEGOLD hung inwards throughout the run home and struck a pylon near the 50 metres.
 
Race 9 DAWE CONTRACTING HANDICAP TROT Video  Video 
ALVIRA HEST, DANKE, K D MUSCLES, MONKEY'S WAY and PETITE ONE broke over the early stages.
ALVIRA HEST was placed on the unruly for future standing starts at the request of the connections.
SUNNY RUBY broke briefly racing into the first bend.
MONKEY'S WAY broke with 1100 metres to run.
SALTWATER GOLD broke with 600 metres to run.
PETITE ONE hung inwards on the final bend.
SUNNY RUBY struck a pylon with 250 metres to run.
 
Race 10 FARMLANDS MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
SOMEARDENSOMEWHERE over-raced in the initial stages.
LIVURA, GOODNESS GRACIOUS ME, SECRET LOTION and KEPT UNDER WRAPS raced wide in the early stages.
ROYAL COUNSEL paced roughly near the 950 metres after attempting to shift TAKE AFTER ME wider on the track. Driver T Chmiel (ROYAL COUNSEL) was advised to exercise care when shifting ground.
NEW DEAL ran very wide on the final bend despite the efforts of driver S Thompson.
RANFURLY RULZ hung inwards in the home straight.
