The connections of SATORI advised that the gelding had been retired after it was confirmed that the horse had a grade three heart murmur.

Race 1 RANGIORA HRC WELCOMES NEW ZEALAND AMATEUR DRIVERS TROT Video  Video 
POPPA DON, DEBANEYRE and NATIVES LASTING LOVE broke at the start.
LYNETTE THE VET raced roughly over the initial 200 metres and then broke racing into the first bend losing its chance.
JANA'S WISHES raced wide and without cover in the early stages.
JANA'S WISHES broke early in the run home.
ARRAN CHIEF raced roughly over the concluding stages.
G Smith as the driver of GREAT THINGS HAPPEN reported that he had not activated the removable hood on his colt.
 
Race 2 BISHOPDALE/BUSH INN TABS NZ AMATEUR DRIVERS MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
HIGHLAND REIGN raced roughly late in the score up and was back a length at the start.
Shortly after the start LURAH and MCARDLES SMOOTH briefly locked wheels.
VALHALLA broke in the early stages losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of this gelding. Driver S Blake reported she had difficulty steering the gelding throughout which was inclined to hang outwards causing it to race roughly on occasions. A post-race veterinary examination of VALHALLA revealed the gelding to be displaying a high temperature. Trainer G Cook advised that he would have his own vet examine VALHALLA in the coming days.
HERETIC FRANCO raced keenly in the middle stages.
LURAH weakened passing the 500 metres. When questioned regarding the performance of this horse trainer R Holmes could offer no explanation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Mr Holmes advised he would have blood tests taken in the coming days and would advise Stewards of the results.
 
Race 3 COUNTRY FEASTS TROT Video  Video 
CONSIDER ME NOW, OCTOBER RAIN, CONTELLA and SQUIRE JOHN broke in the early stages.
CONSIDER ME NOW again broke at the 1900 metres.
KATIES INVASION weakened passing the 500 metres hampering the trailing LADY TANYA and SUNBLOC.
DIANA HARBOUR broke passing the 300 metres.
MISSIE CASTLETON hung inwards in the early stages of the run home. R May as the driver of MISSIE CASTLETON reported the mare had hung inwards on each of the bends and again in the early stages of the run home.
When questioned regarding the performance of SUNBLOC driver and co-trainer T Chmiel advised he was disappointed with the performance of the gelding and he would no longer be persevering with the horse from his stable.
 
Race 4 TAVERN HAREWOOD NZ AMATEUR DRIVERS MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
STYLISH BABE broke in the score up losing its chance. A warning was placed on the mobile barrier record of the mare.
Racing into the first bend SMOKIN CHICK broke when placed in restricted room to the inside of NIC MAC WILLY and TAKE AFTER ME. Stewards questioned drivers J Kriechbaumer (SMOKIN CHICK), J Darby (NIC MAC WILLY) and G Cook (TAKE AFTER ME) regarding this incident. Mr Darby advised he had experienced some difficulty in maintaining a straight course with his gelding in the early stages due to it getting its head up. He further explained that NIC MAC WILLY had shifted inwards crowding SMOKIN CHICK and when he had made an immediate attempt to rectify this he had been unable to relieve that pressure due to TAKE AFTER ME shifting down the track . Stewards after considering the explanations of the drivers and reviewing the films took the matter no further other than to remind J Darby and G Cook to exercise care when shifting ground to ensure that other runners are not consequently placed in restricted room.
JUSTOCLASSIE was held up for clear racing room round the final bend and in the run home.
The sulky seat on ALL FOR D B came off in the final straight and fell to the track. Driver R Sissons was issued a $100 Minor Infringement Notice after he admitted he had adjusted the seat and failed to ensure it was securely fastened.
Trainer A Hutton requested a post-race veterinary examination of ALL FOR D B after the gelding appeared lame upon returning to the stables. The examination revealed that ALL FOR D B had suffered a tendon injury. Mr Hutton advised Stewards that he would no longer persevere with the gelding as a racing proposition.
Trainer A Hutton was issued a $100 Minor Infringement Notice after ALL FOR D B raced with shoes in poor condition.
 
Race 5 CSBA (JOAN BELCHER LEGACY) MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
LILLY JONES broke in the early stages of the score up and was back a length at the start. A warning was placed on the mare's barrier record.
SHAR NEE VALE raced wide in the early stages.
LILLY JONES raced three wide throughout.
FERNLEIGH HANNAH raced roughly when improving wide on the final bend.

Trainer A Stuart was issued a Minor Infringement Notice under Rule 865(1) in that he was late to notify that SIFTY TUESDAY would be racing without sliding blinds and was fined $50.
TOOT TOOT, GABBY'S STAR and EXPRESSIVE VICTOR broke at the start.
YOUNG MISTER GRACE was checked by TOOT TOOT in the early stages and broke. A warning was placed on the standing start record of TOOT TOOT.
Racing into the first bend GLITZY GAL broke.
Passing the 1800 metres TUTOKO KID broke and lost its chance after being restrained by driver J Markham when GLITZY GAL (T Lethaby) improved outwards away from the running line. Stewards questioned both drivers and after doing so in conjunction with viewing the films, it was established that sufficient room had existed for GLITZY GAL to shift outwards but that the manner in which Mr Lethaby had made his shift had caused an inconvenience to TUTOKO KID. Stewards advised Mr Lethaby that a warning would be placed on his record for the manner in which he shifted ground.
RILEY DYLAN gave ground on the final bend.
BURN OFF raced roughly over the concluding stages.
M Cations (YIPPE KI YAY) reported the gelding had carried a flat tyre for the final 600 metres.
 
Race 7 LONE STAR RICCARTON SIRES STAKES 2YO TROT PRELUDE (MOBILE) Video  Video 
ARANNALEA broke in the score up and shifted outwards which briefly impeded WILMA'S MATE.
WILMA'S MATE was back slightly at the start after trotting roughly in the final stages of the score up.
MARCOOLA and COCKTAIL WAITER broke at the start.
THE FOX raced keenly in the early stages.
ARANNALEA again broke near the 1200 metres.
Passing the 1200 metres THE FOX raced roughly for several strides.
MARCOOLA broke near the 300 metres.
 
Race 8 RHRC CANTERBURY COUNTRY CUPS SERIES FINAL (HCP) Video  Video 
A false start was declared when the 20 metre barrier strand failed to release.
REKLAW SUPREME broke at the start checking GRADUATE UNDER FIRE. A warning was placed on the standing start record of REKLAW SUPREME.
EASTWOOD CHIEFTAIN gave ground on the final bend hampering the trailing JACK HAMMER.
Driver T Chmiel advised only one blind had activated on QUICK AS A TRICK.
When questioned with regard to the performance of JOHNNY FOX driver B Orange explained that the gelding had been unsuited to working through the middle stages to take up a prominent position and advised that the gelding in his opinion is best suited when able to be saved for one run. Trainer M Jones confirmed it is the stable's intention to have the horse driven with a sit when circumstances permit in future. A post-race veterinary examination of JOHNNY FOX revealed a respiratory infection. The connections advised they would have blood tests taken in the coming days and would notify Stewards of the results.
When questioned with regard to the performance of EASTWOOD CHIEFTAIN driver S Golding explained the gelding had worked hard in the early stages which had impacted on its ability to finish the race off in a more competitive manner. A post -race veterinary examination of EASTWOOD CHIEFTAIN revealed no abnormalities. The connections advised they would have blood tests taken in the coming days and would notify the Stewards of anything which may come to light to explain the performance,.
 
Race 9 CSBA (JOAN BELCHER LEGACY) MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
IT'S ALL OVER NOW paced roughly in the middle stages when improving three wide without cover.
IT'S ALL OVER NOW was held up by the tiring MIDNIGHT RIDER on the final bend which weakened passing the 700 metres. Stewards placed a warning on the racing performance of MIDNIGHT RIDER.
MARITIME ARDEN was held up for clear racing room over the final stages.
 
Race 10 RD1 HANDICAP TROT Video  Video 
A false start was declared when ROCKNPOP turned sideways and backed away into the line of COMMANDER PARIS prior to the start.
ROCKNPOP reared as the start was effected and swung around checking COMMANDER PARIS and losing considerable ground. In consequence to this the off side number on COMMANDER PARIS hung loose during the running. Stewards advised the connections of ROCKNPOP that the filly would now be drawn unruly for standing starts.
DIGGERBOY was slow to begin. DIGGERBOY was placed on the unruly for future standing starts at the request of the connections,
WILLIE SHINE broke racing into the first bend.
MONKEY'S WAY trotted roughly and then broke racing past the 2100 metres. When questioned regarding the performance of the gelding, driver R Close reported that the horse had struck a knee causing it to break and had trotted roughly throughout. A post-race veterinary examination of MONKEY'S WAY revealed no abnormalities.
COMMANDER PARIS broke near the 1600 metres.
WILLIE SHINE struck several pylons near the 350 metres when placed in restricted room by SALTWATER GOLD. WILLIE SHINE broke entering the home straight after striking the wheel of SALTWATER GOLD which continued to shift down the track. Driver I Schwamm (SALTWATER GOLD) admitted a breach of Rule 869(3)(b) in that he drove carelessly causing the above incident. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty the JCA imposed a fine of $300.
 
Race 11 RANGIORA CLASSIC DAY 26TH APRIL MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
APACHE MOON raced fiercely in the early stages.
APACHE MOON weakened passing the 1000 metres. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Stewards placed a warning on the racing performance of the gelding. Trainer/driver D Flint advised that APACHE MOON would be retired from racing.
FLYIN LOUIE hung inwards and struck several pylons on the final bend.
EXPRESSO MARTINI had difficulty obtaining clear racing room throughout the run home.
Over the concluding stages EXPRESSO MARTINI and SANDVIK STAR locked wheels when SANDVIK STAR was taken outwards by LIVING LEGEND which moved outwards under pressure. R Houghton as the driver of LIVING LEGEND was shown the films and advised that in future he is to make a greater effort to maintain a straight course when driving runners out.
