Driver B Barclay (DOUBLE IMPACT) was warned for the manner in which he drove racing into the first bend when placing TAIERI WINGS in restricted room.

Race 1 COLLINGWOOD FOODCENTRE MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
NOTHINGFORTHEMEDIA hung when improving its position three wide without cover near the 1500 metres and continued to hang rounding the bend passing the 900 metres.
Approaching the 600 metres NOTHINGFORTHEMEDIA which was racing in the parked position broke checking the trailing NIGHTMARCH which locked wheels with STAR OF COURAGE on its outer with both these runners losing their momentum. BIG BAD JOHN was also forced to race wider on the track to avoid theses runners. Trainer D McLachlan was spoken to in relation to the racing manners of NOTHINGFORTHEMEDIA. Mr McLachlan advised he would make gear changes on the gelding and return to the workouts prior to racing next. The Stewards placed a warning on the racing manners of NOTHINGFORTHEMEDIA.
LANGHAM GOLD gave ground over the final 500 metres with trainer S Lock advised that the gelding was on a final warning for its racing performance.
SUE ME was held up rounding the final bend and was unable to gain clear racing room until the concluding stages. Driver N Williamson advised he did not activate the removable deafeners on the mare.
 
Race 2 BP NORTH ROAD MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
ROBYN'S BAD BOY was a late scratching at 8.37am on veterinary advice.
TACT TATE raced erratically behind the mobile barrier and then commenced to race keenly during the running.
Passing the 1800 metres CHRISTIAN GREY had to be steadied when becoming awkwardly placed to the inside of BONNIE'S KHALEESI.
DRIVE THE DREAM brushed pylons near the 1800 metres.
BONNIE'S KHALEESI raced keenly through the middle stages.
 
Race 3 BRUCE COLYER AUTO REFINISHERS HANDICAP TROT Video  Video 
Track conditions were upgraded to Fast prior to this event.
TESSA'S ROCKET broke at the start.
CONTINENTAL BOY shied at the tapes and shifted out abruptly at the start.
O'DRISCOLL broke approaching the first bend.
Racing into the first bend BELMONT INVASION and GRACE O'MALLEY broke with BELMONT INVASION failing to settle for a considerable distance and losing its chance. The nearside number on BELMONT INVASION come adrift after BELMONT INVASION broke. BELMONT INVASION was subsequently pulled up from the race.
LADY HEST broke after 400 metres and failed to settle for a considerable distance.
Near the 2000 metres JEN JACCKA broke, failed to settle and was subsequently retired from the event. When questioned regarding the performance of JEN JACCKA driver N Williamson advised it had been disappointing. Trainer B Gray reported he will have his own veterinarian examine JEN JACCKA in the upcoming days and undertook to advise the Stewards of any findings.
MASS INVASION which was leading made the bend awkwardly near the 800 metres.
O'DRISCOLL (R Swain) improved its position approaching the bend by the 500 metres placing the outside runners in restricted room and resulting in O'DRISCOLL brushing several pylons. Driver R Swain was warned for the manner he drove pursuant to Rule 869(4) when he elected to improve his position to the inside of runners.
GRACE O'MALLEY broke with approximately 350 metres to run.
O'DRISCOLL trotted roughly in the home straight and could not be driven to full advantage by driver R Swain who advised the Stewards that O'DRISCOLL had cast a shoe during the running.
Stewards withheld authorisation of 3rd placing being awarded to O'DRISCOLL to ensure that the gelding had not breached the Breaking Horse Regulations over the early stages and also that it had not shifted inside pylons in excess of 30 metres on the final bend. After viewing replays 3rd placing was duly authorised.
 
Race 4 AUTOSURE PACE Video  Video 
PESCADO, BLOW A CLOUD, MY RONA GOLD and RIGHTEOUS HONOUR all broke at the start.
SUPERFREAK also broke at the start and shifted inwards locking wheels with BORN TO DELIGHT.
PESCADO broke again near the 1300 metres with RIGHTEOUS HONOUR which had been racing keenly having to be sharply restrained to avoid the breaking runner.
PESCADO broke on a further occasion near the 600 metres before eventually being pulled up from the running. Trainer D McLachlan was advised PESCADO was stood down to trial to the Stewards satisfaction on one occasion prior to racing next.
GREAT ABBEY was held up on the final bend.
 
Race 5 E HAYES & SONS MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
SWEET AS paced roughly over the final stages of the score up and broke briefly near the dispatch point.
ONE BAD DREAM paced fiercely in the middle stages and with 1100 metres to run became awkwardly placed on the back of PAT'S LEGACY with ONE BAD DREAM shifting into the Passing Lane briefly to avoid the back of the sulky of PAT'S LEGACY.
ARTSFELLOW tired from the 500 metres after racing three wide without cover during the middle stages.
SWEET AS which was racing in the trail paced roughly throughout the final bend skying its head on numerous occasions.
FLIGHT DECK and ONE BAD DREAM were unable to find clear racing room on the final bend with both these runners having to shift ground in the home straight to obtain clear racing room.
 
Race 6 FINAL TOUCH/GRANT AUTO ELECTRICS MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
JACCKA TEX was back off the gate at the start. Driver C Ferguson advised the gelding raced greenly in the score up and was reluctant to take up its position behind the mobile barrier.
LIS IS FINE struck pylons near the 900 metres when hanging inwards.
THEMAILMAN tired from the 500 metres after racing three wide without cover through the middle stages.
RIVER PATROL hung inwards when improving four wide around the tiring THEMAILMAN near the 400 metres.
RED ELECTRIC hung inwards in the entrance to the home straight.
 
Race 7 AVENAL SERVICE CENTRE/MID CITY MOTORS MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
TARANTO was unable to maintain its position on the mobile barrier prior to the start. Driver B McLellan advised that he had put a boring pole on the mare and she had objected to it in the score up.
TARANTO hung inwards near the 1400 metres brushing several pylons.
MONTANA MANDY paced roughly for a few strides after being shifted wider on the track by COUNTING ON TESS near the 700 metres.
TARANTO and MY MATE OZZ were both badly held up round the final bend by tiring runners.
Approaching the 200 metres JACLYN SMITH stumbled and shifted ground inwards making contact with the final pylon which became trapped in the sulky. The hopple carrier strap on JACLYN SMITH which also broke in this incident was inspected by the Stewards and found to be in good condition.
JACLYN SMITH was claimed following this event by the Oddfellows Syndicate.
Following this race starter B Ward reported to the Stewards that he felt the speed of the mobile may have been quicker than required for the class of horse in this event.

FRANCO TYSON which had worked to the lead broke near the 1900 metres before settling quickly.
MACY BLUE CHIP raced keenly during the running.
AFELLAS BOY paced roughly throughout the event.
AFELLAS BOY ran out of racing room near the 300 metres before shifting ground outwards to find clear racing room.
SUMMERTIME LIZZIE was held up just prior to the Passing Lane by FRANCO TYSON which was commencing to tire.
MACY BLUE CHIP had to shift ground outwards approaching the 100 metres to obtain clear racing room.
When questioned regarding the performance of favoured runner FRANCO TYSON driver N Williamson reported that the gelding was striking the sulky wheels which caused it to panic and break on the first bend. Mr Williamson further advised he felt that FRANCO TYSON had become worked up at this stage of the race which resulted in it tiring over the concluding stages.
The Stewards also questioned A Armour regarding the performance of race favourite RORY. Mr Armour advised that he felt he was following the right horse into the race (THE TISBURY TERROR) but was held up on the final bend when THE TISBURY TERROR was unable to improve forward.
 
Race 9 REGENT CAR COURT HANDICAP PACE Video  Video 
I SMART, AIDAN'S ROCKET, TAS MAN BROMAC and JANGO FETT all broke at the start.
EVEN FLO and ASTRO BOY both tangled away.
JANGO FETT was held up near the 600 metres.
I SMART and ASTRO BOY both tired over the final 500 metres.
SHAK'N CULLEN hung inwards just prior to the home straight and struck pylons.
TAS MAN BROMAC and PULP FICTION both shifted inwards over the concluding stages.
 
Race 10 INVERCARGILL PARTSWORLD MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
RAINBOW ROMANCE raced fiercely behind the mobile barrier prior to the dispatch point.
Racing into the first bend HOKURI RAILRIDA (R McIlwrick) hung outwards and struck the sulky of MILLIGAN which was racing to its outside with HOKURI RAILRIDA breaking for a few strides. As a result THE FLYING SCOTSMAN, ADD NO INTEREST and RAINBOW ROMANCE all had to take evasive action. Trainer A Hoffman was advised a warning was placed on the racing manners of HOKURI RAILRIDA.
RAINBOW ROMANCE over raced through the middle stages.
COSTA DEL MAGNIFICO hung inwards in the run home and was unable to be driven out to full advantage by driver B Shirley.
 
Race 11 www.regentcars.co.nz HANDICAP TROT Video  Video 
A false start was declared when the 10 metre tape failed to release.
APOLLO MISSION, SPLASH COLA and MOMENT OF SUN all broke at the start with these runners all losing any realistic chance in the event. SPLASH COLA failed to settle and was subsequently retired from the event.
GREY POWER broke racing into the first bend.
GOLDEN GATE raced keenly in the parked position for the majority of the race.
STARLIGHT INVASION struck pylons on the final bend when tiring.
Passing the 200 metres EXPERIMENT which was improving its position to challenge the leaders broke and failed to settle.
 
Race 12 REGENT RACEDAY 2YO MOBILE PACE
PANTASTIC was inclined to hang on the bends throughout the event.
With approximately 200 metres to run DUNDEE'S DESIRE had to be briefly restrained when THREE WAYS shifted ground inwards.
