A subsequent Veterinary examination revealed that the gelding was displaying a poor recovery. Connections advised that further Veterinary tests would be undertaken and that Stewards would be advised accordingly should anything surface. | |
Driver J Abernethy (FIERY LUSTRE) was charged under Rule 869(2)(a) on the grounds that he used his whip excessively over the final stages. The JCA upheld the charge and suspended Mr Abernethy's drivers licence from the completion of racing on the 29th March up to and including the 4th April and also imposed a fine of $300. | |

IDEAL BELLE (favourite), improved to lead near the 1200 metres but commenced to give ground quickly passing the 400 metres. A post race veterinary examination revealed no clinical abnormality. Trainer B Purdon was unable to offer any explanation as the mare had worked well leading into tonight's event and connections expected a strong showing. Mr Purdon advised that he would have further veterinary tests carried out and would advise should anything surface. | |

An investigation was held into an incident near the 1100 metres where CYCLONE KATE raced four wide after LIBERTY STYX shifted out from the one out running line. It was established that LIBERTY STYX had commenced its outward movement prior to CYCLONE KATE covering its sulky wheel and no further action was deemed necessary. | |
