Pre-race blood testing was carried out.
Races 5 and 9 were started by way of a moving start after the mobile was unable to gain traction.
Trainer J Aarts was questioned in regards to MONKEY'S WAY starting in Race 4 today on a heavy track after the horse was scratched at the Reefton TC meeting on 8 March 2015 because of the track conditions. After hearing from Mr Aarts, Stewards were satisfied with his explanation and no further action was deemed necessary.

Race 1 MCGIRR FAMILY PACE Video  Video 
Trainer B Waldron was issued a Minor Infringement Notice and fined $50 for being late to notify R May would be driving SIOUX WEST.
CHAL SHOCKED was fractious at the start and broke in the early stages before shifting inwards abruptly and striking pylons. A warning was placed on the gelding's standing start manners.
TOOT TOOT broke at the start with CHIP GANASSI being hampered in the early stages.
SIOUX WEST hung inwards and struck pylons near the 1900 metres.
Near the 1200 metres TUTOKO KID hung outwards simultaneously to DAKOTA FRED hanging inwards resulting in TUTOKO KID breaking after contacting the wheel of DAKOTA FRED with the trailing THOMAS, SIOUX WEST, TOOT TOOT, HONEY SMITH, CHIP GANASSI, GABBY'S STAR, JAYEES SUPREME, CHAL SHOCKED and WHYCHANGE all being checked. CHIP GANASSI broke and lost its chance in this incident.
THOMAS broke near the 400 metres.
TOOT TOOT and LADY CULLENS REIGN were held up for clear racing room in the early stages of the run home.
TOOT TOOT hung outwards passing the 200 metres and had to be steadied by driver M Williamson.
 
Race 2 SOUTHERN DEMOLITION 2YO MOBILE TROT Video  Video 
STAR PRIDE was back a length at the start.
THE FOX trotted roughly at the start and broke shortly after.
ANNA KATE broke after 100 metres.
ANNA KATE again broke near the 1000 metres and was retired from the event.
HE'S LIKE THE WIND trotted roughly and broke rounding the final bend.
THE FOX again broke near the 500 metres.
ARANNALEA broke early in the run home.
 
Race 3 MIDLANDS SEED MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
JOHNNY JET was a late scratching at 10am due to the track conditions.
ASHDAL MAID was back a length at the start.
JOHN DOE broke briefly rounding the first bend.
JOHN DOE again broke near the 1600 metres and was retired from the race. Driver G O'Reilly reported that the horse did not handle the track conditions.
YOUNG MISTER GRACE hung outwards on the final bend.
ZENA MAC, BOOMER BAILEY and MATTY GROVES were held up for clear racing room early in the run home.
ANCIENT MOONLIGHT hung inwards near the 250 metres.
COVER DRIVE hung inwards over the concluding stages.
ASHDAL MAID (S McNally), MILLWOOD LANOCH (B Orange) and ALL NUTS N BOLTS (J Curtin) tired in the home straight with their respective drivers reporting that these runners had failed to handle the track conditions.

The track was downgraded to Heavy prior to this race.
SOUTH COASTER shifted outwards at the start checking CHINA EXPRESS with both horses breaking.
NEED SUCCESS, EVERYBODY KNOWS, ROCKNPOP, DEBANEYRE and OCTOBER RAIN also broke in the early stages.
TRIAL SEPARATION and ROCKNPOP broke racing into the first bend.
ANOTHER DELIGHT broke near the 1800 metres.
Near the 700 metres GLENELEVEN was briefly placed in restricted room when BOYZ LET LOOSE shifted down the track.
ANOTHER DELIGHT and OCTOBER RAIN broke passing the 600 metres.
BOYZ LET LOOSE broke approaching the 400 metres hampering the trailing DEBANEYRE.
Authorisation of 4th placing being awarded to EVERYBODY KNOWS was withheld until Stewards were satisfied the gelding had complied with the Breaking Horse Regulations in the early stages.
 
Race 5 FULTON HOGAN & THE PAINT LAB HORNBY MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
NOTHINGTOLAUGHABOUT, REDBACK JARS and ARTYS ON FIRE were back slightly at the start.
TUUTA paced roughly in the early stages.
CHRISTOPHER BANNER broke after 200 metres before settling towards the rear of the field.
SHADOW RIDER and NOTHINGTOLAUGHABOUT raced keenly in the middle stages.
LIKELY JET, JUSTOCLASSIE, CHRISTOPHER BANNER, HIGHLAND REIGN and PERUVIAN ATOM were held up for clear racing room in the early stages of the run home.
HIGHLAND REIGN hung inwards at the 100 metres.
Over the concluding stages SHADOW RIDER raced in restricted room when positioned between PERUVIAN ATOM and LIKELY JET which were both hanging.
Driver I Lee (LIKELY JET) reported that she dropped her whip in the run home.
Authorisation of 2nd placing being awarded to CHRISTOPHER BANNER was withheld until Stewards were satisfied the gelding had complied with the Breaking Horse Regulations when in a break over the early stages.
Stewards requested a post-race veterinary examination of APACHE MOON after it raced disappointingly. This examination revealed no abnormalities with the trainer's representative J Dunn advising the gelding will no longer be persevered with from their stable.
 
Race 6 ROBBIE'S BAR & BISTRO ASHBURTON PACE Video  Video 
OLDE OAKE ARNIE, MINNIE FLYNNIE and SUPERSHAKES broke at the start.
BURN OFF broke with 2000 metres to run.
BURN OFF broke again with 600 metres to run and broke a hopple as a result. This gear was inspected and found to be in good condition.
YIPPE KI YAY broke briefly passing the 400 metres.
BLUES SINGER paced roughly near the 300 metres.
OLDE OAKE ARNIE was held up through the early and middle stages of the run home.
MUSTANG BULLITT hung outwards in the home straight.
Near the 150 metres SUPERSHAKES had to be steadied after MAN OF CHANGE shifted ground outwards. Driver G O'Reilly (MAN OF CHANGE) was shown the replay and warned to exercise care when shifting ground.
 
Race 7 BLACKWELL CONTRACTING TROT Video  Video 
LITTLE BRO was a late scratching at 3.05pm due to the track conditions.
Trainer K Townley was issued a Minor Infringement Notice and fined $100 for presenting NO POTATO without the notified blinds.
BROOKSIDE COLT, ALL ROYAL GAL and BONO HEST broke at the start with BROOKSIDE COLT losing a significant amount of ground.
CLEAN BREAK raced wide in the early stages.
SPRINGBANK EDEN trotted roughly passing the 400 metres and lost momentum.
NO POTATO broke with 350 metres to run.
CLEAN BREAK broke with 250 metres to race.
DIGGERBOY hung inwards in the run home.
SPRINGBANK EDEN broke with 20 metres to race.
A protest was lodged under Rule 870(5) against 1st placing being awarded to SPRINGBANK EDEN for galloping over the concluding stages and being lapped on by BLUE DON at the finish. The connections did not contest the protest and SPRINGBANK EDEN was relegated to 2nd place by the JCA.
Driver M Williamson (SPRINGBANK EDEN) was shown a replay and reminded of his obligations to leave full access to the passing lane in the run home.
 
Race 8 P.G. O'REILLY SNR MEMORIAL HANDICAP PACE Video  Video 
Trainer T May was issued a Minor Infringement Notice and fined $100 for presenting JACK HAMMER without the notified removable deafeners.
K C MONET, JACK HAMMER and TUBBY JIM broke at the start.
PERISSA over-raced in the middle stages and struck a pylon near the 1800 metres.
SHEER CLASS broke with 600 metres to run inconveniencing MIGHTY PERUVIAN, TUBBY JIM, JACK HAMMER and BETTY GOLIGHTLY.
When questioned regarding the performance of JACK HAMMER driver R May reported the gelding did not handle the track and had raced lethargically throughout.
Driver M Neilson (JOHNNY EYRE) was shown a replay and reminded of her obligations to maintain a straight course in the run home.
Stewards questioned driver R May (JACK HAMMER) regarding the reason that PERISSA was able to improve ahead of him near the 1700 metres. Mr May explained that PERISSA which was over-racing was striking the sulky wheels and for this reason he felt it was in the interests of safety to allow driver M Jones (PERISSA) to ease off the peg line and improve his position. After considering the circumstances Stewards took the matter no further.
 
Race 9 MAINLAND WOOL MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
SATORI was a late scratching at 1.24pm due to the track conditions.
CANNDEW was a late scratching at 3.44pm due to the track conditions.
FIREBREAK and FRANCO ENVOY broke at the start.
ALAN GOLIGHTLY broke approaching the first bend after being contacted from behind by the breaking FIREBREAK despite the efforts of driver S Ottley.
FIREBREAK continued on in a break for a considerable distance hampering CHANTREY which was forced wider on the track.
LOOSE CANNON broke briefly passing the 600 metres.
FIREBREAK was eased out of the race on the final bend. Trainer J McDermott was advised that FIREBREAK must complete one satisfactory trial prior to resuming.
 
Race 10 SHEARMAC ALUMINIUM & JOINERY HANDICAP TROT Video  Video 
MC BLIZZARD refused to trot away at the start. A warning was placed on the standing start manners of the gelding.
SARAH LINDENNY and WILLIE SHINE broke at the start with the trailing XMAS JOYELLA being hampered by SARAH LINDENNY and pacing briefly.
CHERRY LINDENNY trotted roughly racing into the first bend.
NEVER FEAR broke briefly rounding the first bend.
LAVROS SEGIL broke with 2000 metres to run.
WILLIE SHINE broke with 800 metres to run. The connections were advised the gelding must trial satisfactorily on one occasion prior to resuming.
CLIFDEN CLOWERS gave ground on the final bend.
Authorisation of 4th placing being awarded to LAVROS SEGIL was withheld until it was established that LAVROS SEGIL had complied with the Breaking Horse Regulations when in a break passing the 2000 metres.
 
Race 11 NOEL STEVENS MEMORIAL & YALDHURST HOTEL PACE Video  Video 
HORACE GREELEY, AS KIWI AS and JUST BEN broke at the start with IDOLISE being inconvenienced.
OUTTA SIGHT tangled away.
JUST BEN hung inwards and struck a pylon with 1350 metres to run.
HALSTON BROMAC struck pylons on the final bend.
GIVETHEJOBTOBARNSY broke with 500 metres to run with AS KIWI AS which was improving three wide having to be steadied when hampered.
HORACE GREELEY broke near the 450 metres.
When spoken to regarding the performance of AS KIWI AS trainer/driver R Holmes reported that he was unable to make any ground in the testing conditions after breaking in the early stages.
