BOURBON AND DRY broke as the start was effected.
CICADA JENERIK and THE ZIGMEISTER broke shortly after the start.
WANDERING STAR and PLAYBOY'S BROTHER raced wide in the early stages.
LITTLE MISS and PURE EMOTION raced wide throughout.
PLAYBOY'S BROTHER trotted roughly then broke nearing the 450 metres.
BOYZ LET LOOSE broke approaching the 400 metres.
PURE EMOTION broke passing the 200 metres.
ARRAN CHIEF and WANDERING STAR hung inwards in the run home.
THE ZIGMEISTER raced greenly in the home straight.
ARRAN CHIEF broke nearing the 40 metres and continued in a break over the finish line. A protest was lodged against 3rd placing being awarded to ARRAN CHIEF under Rule 870(5) alleging this gelding had been lapped on by KATIES INVASION. After viewing the films trainer/driver A Faulks elected not to contest the protest and ARRAN CHIEF was subsequently relegated to 4th placing by the JCA.
 
Race 2 NEVELE R STUD FILLIES & MARES MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
THE PENNY'S DROPPED was inclined to hang inwards when negotiating the first bend.
Nearing the 1100 metres LAURENT broke losing its chance. Stable representative J Dunn advised that this filly would no longer race from their stable.
THE PENNY'S DROPPED proceeded to give ground near the 800 metres with a warning placed on this mare's racing performance. Trainer J Greaney advised he would no longer persevere with this mare as a racing proposition.
Stewards questioned driver R May regarding the performance of MOSSDALE SUE. Mr May could offer no explanation other than to suggest the filly may not have handled the grass track. Co-trainer N Hope was also spoken to regarding the filly's performance. Mrs Hope stated that she was surprised that MOSSDALE SUE was the favourite for the race adding that she was not disappointed with the effort.
When questioned regarding the improved performance of BOUNDARY ROW, trainer P Burrows explained that the filly had broken at both starts prior to being sent for a spell and he was of the opinion that she had strengthened up this preparation.
Driver J Ovens (LUCY HOLMES) was questioned in regards to the continuation of him using the whip when not in contention over the final stages. After considering the explanation tendered by Mr Ovens and being mindful that he had been spoken to with regard to this in the past, Stewards issued a charge under Rule 869(2)(a) in that he used his whip in an unnecessary manner over the concluding stages. Mr Ovens admitted the breach and after hearing submissions on penalty the JCA imposed a fine of $150.
 
Race 3 VETERINARY CENTRE WAIMATE PACE Video  Video 
A false start was declared when the barrier strand failed to release.
NATASHA FRANCO, ALONZO AMIR, CAESAR'S JADE and EROS broke as the start was effected.
MUSTANG BULLITT broke briefly when negotiating the course crossing.
CAESAR'S JADE raced greenly rounding the first bend and dislodged several pylons.
JAYEES SUPREME broke nearing the 900 metres losing its chance.
SLEDGEHAMMER and EROS struggled to maintain their respective positions from the 600 metres.
ALONZO AMIR broke when racing in the parked position near the 500 metres hampering the trailing DAKOTA FRED and WHYCHANGE. Driver R Holmes (ALONZO AMIR) reported that in his opinion the gelding did not handle the grass track.
 
Race 4 ALABAR STUD PACE Video  Video 
PEGASUS KOMMANDER underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to race, having started at the Winton Harness Racing Club's meeting the previous day.
SATORI, MACH WINGER and CANNDEW broke as the start was effected.
JONAH JONES and RED UNDER FIRE were held up for racing room early in the run home.
When questioned regarding the performance of MACH WINGER driver J Curtin stated that the gelding felt lethargic throughout. Stewards requested a post-race veterinary examination of the gelding which revealed no abnormalities.
Stewards spoke with driver R Holmes regarding his decision not to utilise the passing lane on SATORI. Mr Holmes stated that the gelding was inclined to hang outwards and had resented his attempts to shift inwards as the passing lane became available.
When questioned in regards to the improved performance of MIDFREW TARPEDIEM, driver M Williamson was of the opinion that the gelding had appreciated the return to a grass track adding that the horse had received an economical run throughout.
 
Race 5 MCMILLANS FEEDS AT FARMLANDS WAIMATE TROT Video  Video 
BONO HEST, SPRINGBANK EDEN, DREAM BIG, STARLIGHT STARBRIGHT and LITTLE BRO broke at the start.
SPRINGBANK EDEN was placed on the unruly for future standing starts at the request of trainer P Williamson.
OVERSTAYER and ILLUSTRIOUS QUEEN raced wide in the early stages.
LIMA LAD raced three wide throughout.
MIRI broke passing the 1200 metres hampering the trailing MALDARNA and BONO HEST.
LIMA LAD broke near the 400 metres.
MIRI broke again in the home straight.
STARLIGHT STARBRIGHT hung inwards in the run home.
EVANDER D GO was held up for clear racing room in the early and middle stages of the run home.
 
Race 6 ROYAL TAVERN / WAIMATE TOWN & COUNTRY CLUB PACE Video  Video 
POCKET OF JEWELS and REDBACK JARS broke briefly at the start.
FRANCO ENVOY broke at the start losing its chance.
INDIAN ARROW was obliged to race wide without cover from the 1400 metres.
THE SMOOCHA, NOTHINGTOLAUGHABOUT, REDBACK JARS and LACROIX FRANCO were held up for clear racing room in the early stages of the run home.
AS KIWI AS was denied clear racing room throughout the home straight.
LACROIX FRANCO hung outwards throughout the run home when utilising the passing lane.
 
Race 7 GRAHAM ATTEWELL MEMORIAL PACE (SPONSORED BY IRT) Video  Video 
NEW DEAL swung inwards as the start was effected checking GEISHA GIRL and JOHNNY EYRE resulting in GEISHA GIRL breaking. A warning was placed on the standing start record of NEW DEAL.
REKLAW SUPREME broke at the start and briefly locked wheels with K C MONET.
Racing into the first bend HESTIA FRANCO hung inwards and struck several pylons with the trailing JACKO breaking briefly when shying at a dislodged pylon.
When improving four wide rounding the final turn NEW DEAL broke losing its chance hampering the trailing REKLAW SUPREME. A front hopple loop of NEW DEAL broke in this incident.
MCARDLE STAR paced roughly in the run home and could not be driven out to full advantage by driver B Orange.
MADDISON HILL, GEISHA GIRL, JACKO and BANDANA were held up in the early stages of the run home.
 
Race 8 LIFETIME INSURANCE & FINANCIAL ADVISERS WAIMATE CUP (HCP) Video  Video 
THAT'S HUNTING PINK was a late scratching at 6.20pm the previous evening.
BETTER TO BE BAD broke badly at the start and lost a considerable amount of ground.
TIJUANA BROMAC over-raced through the middle stages.
After improving wide to sit parked at the 1000 metres MIGHTY MAJOR tired early in the run home. When questioned regarding the performance of MIGHTY MAJOR driver B Orange could offer no explanation. Stewards requested a post-race veterinary examination of MIGHTY MAJOR which revealed no abnormalities. The veterinary surgeon recommended that blood tests be taken from the gelding in the coming days. Stewards will contact trainer K Barron in regards to the recovery of the gelding.
JACK HAMMER paced roughly near the 600 metres.
RIVER BLACK hung inwards in the home straight.
TIJUANA BROMAC and STAR OF DIONYSIS were held up for clear racing room in the run home.
SMOKEN ROMAN was briefly placed in restricted room passing the 200 metres when ARTISMEE shifted outwards marginally.
 
Race 9 PEGASUS SPUR AT WOODLANDS STUD HANDICAP TROT Video  Video 
YOUNG STRANGER broke shortly after the start.
NEVER FEAR trotted roughly through the early stages and again at various occasions throughout the running before breaking at the 200 metres.
When negotiating the first bend FACE VALUE broke.
VALMAGNE trotted roughly over the concluding stages.
 
Race 10 CUNNINGHAM PLUMBING & WAIMATE WORKOUTS MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
EXTREME PRINCESS had its front shoes removed prior to the start.
EXTREME PRINCESS raced greenly and broke when negotiating the crossing checking the trailing ALTAR EGO, TUUTA, JOHN DOE, JOHNNY JET and ALL NUTS N BOLTS. A warning was placed on the racing manners of EXTREME PRINCESS.
SUPERSHAKES also broke when negotiating the crossing checking ROLLIN THUNDER, YOUNG MISTER GRACE, MAN OF CHANGE and FLAGPOLE. A warning was placed on the racing manners of SUPERSHAKES.
ALTAR EGO, JOHN DOE, BLUES SINGER, ALL NUTS N BOLTS and FLAGPOLE were held up for clear racing room in the early stages of the run home.
JOHN DOE paced roughly over the concluding stages.
YOUNG MISTER GRACE sustained a punctured sulky tyre during the running.
 
Race 11 PGG WRIGHTSON AON MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
ELUSIVE FLIGHT was a late scratching on veterinary advice at 4.43 pm. A veterinary clearance will be required prior to the gelding resuming.
MIAMI HEAT broke after jumping the course crossing causing a slight inconvenience to trailing runners. A warning was placed on the racing manners of this mare.
TOUGH ENOUGH also broke momentarily approaching the course crossing after striking several pylons. Driver G Smith (TOUGH ENOUGH) was shown a replay and warned for the manner he drove at this stage of the race.
DAG AND WASHINGTON, RIGA DOON and MIAMI HEAT were held up for clear racing room early in the run home.
UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE tired from the 400 metres. Stewards requested a post-race veterinary examination of UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE which revealed no abnormalities.
MAJOR PATRON briefly hung inwards near the 200 metres as the trailing CULLEN KEEFE shifted down the track to utilise the passing lane.
