Race 1 MCDONALD EXCAVATING/THE ROADING COMPANY HANDICAP TROT Video  Video 
Trainer N Williamson admitted a breach of Rule 858(b) in that he presented IDLE EYRE into the birdcage five minutes before the start of the race and was fined $100 by the JCA.
STRATHFIELD SUN and ANOTHER CRUSHER both broke over the early stages with STRATHFIELD SUN losing all chance.
IDLE EYRE broke racing into the first bend losing considerable ground. Trainer/driver N Williamson advised Stewards that he would be reassessing the racing future of the gelding from his stable.
HOPE AND PRAY broke near the 1000 metres losing its chance.
RUBY'S JEWEL was held up rounding the final bend.
SPRINGFIELD EYRE gave ground on the final bend.
LOVE STRUCK ROMEO broke early in the run home.
HEARD THE WHISPER hung inwards in the home straight.
Driver P Williamson (HEARD THE WHISPER) was reminded of his obligations to ensure his whip remains within the confines of the sulky.
 
Race 2 BMAC SHEETMETAL 2005 LTD MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
NOTHINGFORTHEMEDIA paced roughly in the early stages.
BETTAKATETHANNEVA raced keenly throughout the running.
BETTAKATETHANNEVA, CHRISTIAN GREY and VERA'S DELIGHT were all held up rounding the final bend.
BEAUDIENE CLEMINTYNE was also held up on the final bend by the tiring GALWAY ABBEY.
CHRISTIAN GREY shifted outwards in search of clear running near the 250 metres inconveniencing GALWAY ABBEY which locked wheels briefly with BEAUDIENE CLEMINTYNE. Driver C Ferguson (CHRISTIAN GREY) was shown a replay and warned for the manner he shifted ground.
BETTAKATETHANNEVA was unable to find suitable clearance throughout the home straight.
VERA'S DELIGHT hung inwards late in the run home.
When questioned regarding the improved performance of CHRISTIAN GREY driver C Ferguson explained that the gelding races best when being driven with a sit and the run had suited today.
 
Race 3 MLT/THREE RIVERS HOTEL MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
FRANCO TYSON over-raced in the middle stages.
DEGAS had to steady on the final bend when IN THE KITTY shifted outwards in search of clear running. Driver H Hunter (IN THE KITTY) was shown a replay and warned for the manner he shifted ground.
When questioned regarding the performance of BONNIE'S KHALEESI, driver C Barron reported that he had to improve wide on the track on the final bend after the three wide line had failed to progress. Mr Barron further added he was of the opinion the filly may not have handled the track and as a result had failed to run on as expected.
When questioned regarding the performance of DEGAS driver N Williamson could offer no explanation other than to suggest the gelding may not have handled the prevailing track conditions.
 
Race 4 GORE TRACTOR SERVICES LTD MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
SUMMERTIME LIZZIE paced roughly racing into the first bend after there was a slight easing of the pace.
MISS MATTJESTY raced three wide without cover from shortly after the start until the 1700 metres.
PARNELL briefly raced in restricted room near the 200 metres when tiring.
COMBIEN was held up for clear racing room throughout the run home.
Driver H Hunter reported that he was unable to activate the removable deafeners on GREAT ABBEY after the cord had slipped from its original position during the running and became entangled in the hopple shortener cord.
When questioned regarding the performance of SUMMERTIME LIZZIE, driver C Ferguson reported that he had attempted to improve three wide from the 800 metres however when runners ahead of him which had also shifted three wide failed to improve suitably into the race he had been obliged to race very wide on the final bend. Mr Ferguson added that he was not disappointed with the mare's performance.
 
Race 5 JACCKA LODGE HANDICAP TROT Video  Video 
Trainer N Williamson admitted a breach of Rule 865(2) in that he presented SPLASH COLA to race without the notified blinds and was fined $100 by the JCA.
JACCKA JACK broke at the start.
SPLASH COLA broke shortly after the start settling at the rear of the field.
SOUTHLAND REFLECTOR broke racing into the first bend and was then obliged to race three wide before easing to the back of the field near the 2300 metres.
OVERCAST commenced to give ground from the 700 metres. Stewards ordered a post-race veterinary examination of the mare which revealed no obvious abnormalities. When questioned regarding the performance of the mare, driver A Beck was of the opinion that the rise in class combined with the extra distance of today's race and the track conditions had been a significant factor in the disappointing performance.
GEE UP NEDDY trotted roughly over the concluding stages and could not be driven out to full advantage by driver B Barclay.
Driver J Dunn reported that in his opinion EXPERIMENT did not handle the track conditions.
Driver M Williamson advised he elected not to activate the removable deafeners on the winner BET'S SUN due to the gelding trotting roughly over the concluding stages.
 
Race 6 ALABAR NZ KINDERGARTEN STAKES (MOBILE PACE) Video  Video 
A false start was declared when HANNA'S BOY broke in the score up and shifted outwards hampering SWAP OVER on its outside. Driver S Walkinshaw elected to remain in his allocated position for the restart. A warning was placed on the mobile barrier manners of HANNA'S BOY.
HANNA'S BOY broke in the early stages of the score up at the second attempt however recovered to take its rightful position at the start.
RAKSMACH raced keenly through the middle stages before tiring on the final bend. Driver P Hunter reported that the gelding may have choked down.
WAIKIKI BEACH hung inwards throughout the run home.
 
Race 7 PGG WRIGHTSON REAL ESTATE CROMWELL MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
HOKURI RAILRIDA paced roughly throughout.
HOKURI RAILRIDA raced three wide without cover from the 900 metres before giving ground from the 400 metres finishing a distant last. Stewards ordered a post-race veterinary examination of HOKURI RAILRIDA after this gelding returned to the birdcage with blood present in both nostrils. After an endoscopic examination HOKURI RAILRIDA was deemed not to be a bleeder however the gelding was treated for a high temperature and dehydration. A veterinary clearance will be required prior to the gelding resuming racing.
SHEZACHEAPY was held up rounding the final bend and hung inwards early in the run home.
DOUBLE IMPACT and TAIERI WINGS locked wheels near the 100 metres when racing to the inside of BETTABE PERFECT (A Beck) which shifted down the track in search of clear running. Driver A Beck was shown a replay and warned to exercise care when shifting ground.
 
Race 8 KYLEMORE PERENDALES & KILLARA CHEVIOT MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
BEAUDIENE BEAUT BABE raced keenly through the middle stages before hanging inwards on the final bend causing driver J Cox considerable difficulty. This mare then hung outwards throughout the home straight. Stewards ordered a post-race veterinary examination of the mare which revealed no obvious abnormalities.
 
Race 9 KINA CRAIG STUD WYNDHAM CUP (HANDICAP PACE) Video  Video 
The track conditions were downgraded to Slushy prior to this event.
PROVOCATIVE PRINCE, JANGO FETT and TED WEST all broke at the start.
MILLIGAN tangled away.
JANGO FETT had to take evasive action in the early stages to avoid the breaking PROVOCATIVE PRINCE.
A warning was placed on the standing start record of PROVOCATIVE PRINCE.
BACKUP raced in the parked position for the majority of the event.
Driver J Cox (PROVOCATIVE PRINCE) briefly dropped his foot from the sulky footrest near the 400 metres.
PULP FICTION paced roughly on occasions in the run home.
 
Race 10 LAMB DRIVE SUPPORTERS/CATTLE GRAZIERS MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
A false start was declared when LILLY JONES broke in the score up checking BATTLE MAC. Driver J Dunn elected to remain in his allocated position for the restart. A warning was placed on the mobile barrier manners of LILLY JONES.
ROBYN'S BAD BOY hung inwards in the early stages.
LILLY JONES over-raced throughout when racing parked. Driver J Dunn reported that the mare had been striking his sulky wheels.
LIGHTNING FLIGHT was caught three wide without cover from the 1800 metres before breaking near the 1200 metres and was subsequently retired from the event. When questioned regarding this, driver G Lee could offer no explanation for the gelding breaking. Stewards ordered a post-race veterinary examination of LIGHTNING FLIGHT however this was unable to be completed due to Mr Lee having left the course. Stewards will follow up the recovery of this horse with Mr Lee in the coming days.
BATTLE MAC paced roughly near the 1000 metres.
CAESAR ROCKS gave ground from the 700 metres and was eventually retired from the event. When questioned regarding this, driver R McIlwrick could offer no explanation other than to suggest the gelding may not have handled the Slushy track conditions. Stewards ordered a post-race veterinary examination of CAESAR ROCKS which revealed no obvious abnormalities.
BATTLE MAC gave ground from the 600 metres.
ART EXHIBIT was held up for clear racing room rounding the final bend.
BLACK ROCK BABE and RIVER PATROL raced greenly in the run home.
When questioned regarding the performance of ONE BAD DREAM, driver C Ferguson could offer no tangible explanation and was disappointed with the performance of the mare. Stewards ordered a post-race veterinary examination of ONE BAD DREAM which revealed no obvious abnormalities.
 
Race 11 WYNDHAM WORKOUTS COMMITTEE MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
SECRET'S OUT underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start.
SMILING ARMADA (R Rogers) and SECRET'S OUT (B Williamson) were both out of position at the start. Junior horsemen R Rogers and B Williamson in the presence of senior horseman Mr H Hunter were shown a replay and warned to make a greater effort to maintain their positions behind the mobile until the start point.
THE TISBURY TERROR hung inwards when improving to the lead near the 1500 metres.
ROME raced keenly in the middle stages.
STAR OF COURAGE, ROCKY ROAD, CRIMSON GLORY and ROME were all held up for clear racing room on the final bend with both ROME and ROCKY ROAD also held up in the early and middle stages of the run home.
Driver C Ferguson (RORY) briefly dropped his foot from the sulky footrest near the 200 metres.
SHARDS PHOENIX and CRIMSON GLORY had difficulty obtaining clear racing room throughout the home straight with driver J Dunn (SHARDS PHOENIX) advising he did not activate the removable deafeners on his mare.
FOR THE GOODTIMES hung inwards late in the run home.
When questioned regarding the performance of ONE OUT OF FOUR, driver N Williamson reported the gelding had worked hard in the early stages and this combined with the prevailing track conditions had impacted on his ability to remain competitive in the final straight.
