Race 5 - OUTBACK TRADING COMPANY MOBILE PACE
Stewards today concluded an investigation into Mr A Pyers driving of VIOLET BROMAC where he improved to the inside of WAVE SONG which forced WAVE SONG wider on the track. Mr Pyers was told that this manoeuvre was unacceptable and told that notwithstanding the field was racing wider on the track he should have maintained his position four back rather than improving to the inside of all other runners.

Race 1 S P DOODY RACING STABLES HANDICAP TROT Video  Video 
INNES BOYZ reared and swung sideways as the tapes were released losing considerable ground and effectively all chance. Trainer M Hickey was advised that a warning had been placed on INNES BOYZ's racing manners.
MISTRESS CASTLETON broke at the start losing considerable ground.
OPAWA SPEED trotted roughly in the early stages.
Stewards questioned Drivers B Weaver (RARANGI JEWEL) and Mrs S Branch (BURT MUNRO) with respect to RARANGI JEWEL being crowded for a distance rounding the first turn. It was established that after racing adjacent to the leader shortly after the start Mrs Branch had elected to restrain BURT MUNRO in an attempt to obtain the trail behind the leader SUCCESSFUL WOMAN. However when undertaking this manoeuvre Mrs Branch had not been fully clear of RARANGI JEWEL which resulted in Mr Weaver having to steady his horse. Mrs Branch was issued with a warning.
DESERT STORM raced wide without cover in the middle stages.
SUCCESSFUL WOMAN was inclined to hang out in the lead throughout and near the 800 metres ran out allowing the trailing BURT MUNRO to improve to its inside.
Stewards enquired into the drive of Junior Driver A Poutama (IMNOTQUITESURE) near the 1000 metres in particular him losing his position which allowed DESERT STORM, which had been racing three wide, to obtain a position in the one off running line. It was established that when DESERT STORM had improved three wide the tempo of the race increased appreciably which had left IMNOTQUITESURE flat footed for a distance. IMNOTQUITESURE then travelled only fairly and gave ground from the 500 metres. A Poutama reported that IMNOTQUITESURE may not have backed up from its first day run.
BURT MUNRO was crowded for a distance passing the 500 metres when inside SUCCESSFUL WOMAN which lay in under pressure.
BURT MUNRO commenced to tire passing the 300 metres which resulted in the trailing TWO WISHES becoming badly held up with TWO WISHES only obtaining clear racing room near the 150 metres.
SEE YA broke under pressure near the 150 metres.
 
Race 2 ACCOMMODATION GATEWAY MOTEL MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
BILLY THE BAD proved very fractious in the pre-race formation and had to recover considerable ground prior to attaining its allocated position.
OUTA THE FRIDGE was inclined to over race in the early stages.
CHERRY EVANS raced keenly in the middle stages.
SHAPEOFTHINGSTOCOME commenced to hang out and give ground passing the 600 metres.
STRATHBRIDGE REGAL was held up for a short distance rounding the final turn.
GOLDEN BILLION was removed from the unruly for future mobile starts.
 
Race 3 COLEMAN DESIGN MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
LICKLE LICKLE raced greenly and lay out on occasions throughout the running.
BOOMCHICKAWOWWOW broke when being restrained near the 800 metres and came back on to FRACTURE and TAYLAHS GIRL both these runners losing ground. A warning was placed against BOOMCHICKAWOWWOW with respect to its racing manners.
 
Race 4 O'FEE & ASSOCIATES MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
Driver S Abernethy (FLYIN LOUIE) was issued with a warning under Rule 857(7)(g) for failing to maintain his position on the mobile gate.
GOT TO BE GOOD gave ground over the final stages finishing well back. When questioned driver S Butcher could offer no excuse.

There were no claims lodged for WYATT EARP.
WYATT EARP over raced throughout.
LOFTY BROGDEN was inclined to over race for a distance passing the 1600 metres.
THE PERSUADER was held up over the final 100 metres.
 
Race 6 WOODLANDS STUD MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
There were no claims for VIEWFIELD APACHE.
MACH CRUISER over raced in the trail from the 1600 metres.
CHANGE GEAR pulled hard over the final 1200 metres. CHANGE GEAR was then held up rounding the final bend and throughout the run home going to the line untested.
COUGAR BROMAC paced roughly for a short distance near the 100 metres.
Stewards questioned Junior Driver K Marshall as to why he was not on the mobile barrier at dispatch. Mr Marshall with the assistance of Senior Horseman P Ferguson explained that CHANGE GEAR had commenced to race fiercely approaching the mobile arm and that he had to heavily restrain the gelding which had resulted in it over reacting and yielding more ground than anticipated. Mr Marshall's explanation was accepted.
 
Race 7 ALLAN MCNEILL CHARTERED ACCOUNTANTS MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
DESIRE TO FLY broke when trailing near the 1700 metres and came back on to ASHLEY H which had to take evasive action. Stewards ordered a post race veterinary examination of DESIRE TO FLY which did not reveal any abnormalities. A warning was placed against DESIRE TO FLY with respect to its racing manners.
 
Race 8 STEWART ISLAND SMOKED SALMON MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
MIRO BAY hung out in the latter part of the score up and had to be corrected which resulted in it being out of position at the start.
MACARDO was held up behind the weakening BUBBALOOBAH rounding the final bend however when in clear running failed to run on to any extent going to the line only fairly. When questioned regarding the performance of MACARDO Junior Driver B Butcher reported that the gelding had travelled well during the running and notwithstanding being held up for a brief distance was nevertheless disappointing for which he could offer no excuse.
When questioned regarding the running of BUBBALOOBAH which gave ground over the final stages Driver D Butcher reported that the rise in class coupled with having to work hard early in the race may have proved detrimental to its chances. Mr Butcher added that BUBBALOOBAH may not have backed up from its first day run.
