A change of ownership was received prior to Race 1 for GERALD from G Brodie to B Negus and D Senior.

Race 11 - MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM RANGIORA HRC PACE
An investigation into the manner in which horseman J Hay drove JACKO over the concluding stages of the above said race has been concluded resulting in Mr Hay being fined the sum of $100.00 by the JCA after he admitted breaching Rule 866(b) in that he used the ends of his reins as a whip at this stage of the race.

Race 1 SELWYN VIEW NEWSPAPER MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
SUPREME SIGN broke as the start was effected.
Approaching the winning post on the first occasion ALEXY paced roughly when placed in restricted room to the inside of SELESTER.
LEXINGTON LAD broke nearing the 150m metres when attempting to improve inwards off the back of the tiring MACHS A FLYIN.
GERALD and VALHALLA were held up for clear racing room through the early and middle stages of the run home.
Horseman D Reardon (FRANCO TYRONE) was fined the sum of $200 after admitting he drove in a careless manner passing the 350 metres when improving outwards and allowing his runner to strike the sulky wheel of VANILLA ROSE which resulted in the tyre and tube coming off the rim.
MACHS A FLYIN was claimed by ballot.
 
Race 2 MCMILLAN FEEDBARN TROT Video  Video 
EILISH AIMEE reared prior to the start.
TORNADO VALLEY broke in the early stages.
BEINN THARSUINN broke over the early stages losing its chance.
SALTWATER GOLD broke over the early stages and again nearing the 250 metres.
LITTLE MISS (T Jellyman) broke after 150 metres and shifted wider on the track hampering SQUIRE JOHN. Mr Jellyman was shown the films and cautioned that a better effort would be required in future to avoid runners to his outside when in a break.
TORNADO VALLEY lost several lengths passing the 1100 metres due to an easing of the pace.
MERLOT and SQUIRE JOHN broke at the 150 metres.
HENLEY PARK was held up for clear racing through the early stages of the run home.
Authorisation of 3rd placing being awarded to TORNADO VALLEY was withheld until Stewards were satisfied the gelding had complied with the Breaking Horse Regulations when in a break over the early stages.
 
Race 3 DAKINS RENT-A-LOO FILLIES & MARES MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
The start of this event was delayed by 2 minutes at the request of the TAB.
BETTOR ACE hung in the score up and again throughout the running. Horseman J Dunn advised the filly had proved difficult to steer throughout and would be restricting the filly to all-weather tracks in future.
FERNLEIGH HANNAH was out of position by several lengths at dispatch. Junior Horsewoman N Harris was reminded to make a greater effort to maintain her mobile barrier position in future. Ms Harris was also reminded of her obligations to check in when finishing in a stakes bearing place.
PERAKI A FLYIN broke at the start before settling at the rear of the field, and paced awkwardly throughout the running.
Driver M Edmonds (GRACEY LACEY) briefly dropped his foot from the sulky foot-rest near the 400 metres.
MA JOI, ALL THAT GLITTERS and PARTY RAGE were all held up for clear racing room at various stages of the run home.
GUPTA'S CULLEN was placed in restricted room momentarily when racing between PARTY RAGE which was improving outwards and FERNLEIGH HANNAH which had hung in abruptly approaching the 100 metres. The connections of FERNLEIGH HANNAH advised they would be making gear alterations prior to its next start in an attempt to rectify the mare's tendency to hang.
Trainer B Hill was questioned regarding the disappointing performance of ALL THAT GLITTERS. He advised he was at a loss to explain the performance as the filly had been working and trialling well prior to the meeting. He further added he would have the horse thoroughly checked out in the coming days and would advised Stewards of any irregularities that become apparent.
 
Race 4 MCMILLAN SPORT HORSE MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
GOT A BEAUTY paced roughly over the early stages.
WHYCHANGE had a warning placed on its racing manners after breaking when negotiating the course crossing checking YOUNG MISTER GRACE and A BETTER LOVER.
LANDLOCH hung outwards leading up to the course crossing and then broke.
BETTOR LUCK paced roughly through the early stages then broke when negotiating the crossing losing its chance.
MIAMI HEAT was held up for clear racing room through the early stages of the run home.
MAGOOGAN was held up for clear racing room throughout the run home. This gelding was subjected to a post-race veterinary examination after returning to the stabling enclosure with blood present in both nostrils. As a result MAGOOGAN was declared to have bled and was subsequently stood down for the mandatory 30 days and ordered to trial satisfactorily on one occasion.
 
Race 5 PGG WRIGHTSON PACE Video  Video 
NOTHINGTOLAUGHABOUT, DOCTOR MCDREAMY and FRANCO TARIQ all broke over the early stages.
MACH'S TERMINATOR raced greenly when negotiating the course crossing near the 1700 metres.
NOTHINGTOLAUGHABOUT over-raced on the final bend and was held up through the middle stages. Horseman CD Thornley advised the mare's jawbreaker had slipped resulting in it being difficult to steer.
DOCTOR MCDREAMY and FRANCO TARIQ were both held up for clear racing room through the middle stages of the run home.
CIMARRON was subjected to a post-race veterinary examination after its poor performance, with this examination revealing the gelding to be scouring. Trainer S Dolan advised he would be having tests taken and would notify Stewards of the results.
Horseman G Smith (MACH'S TERMINATOR) was shown the films and reminded to leave the passing lane available for trailing runners in future.
 
Race 6 MCMILLAN PROTEIN PLUS JUNIOR DRIVER PACE Video  Video 
RED UNDER FIRE jumped sideways as the start was effected inconveniencing THE BLACK which broke shortly after.
WOODLEA DJ, NEVERTHELESS and COURAGE TO FLY broke over the early stages.
AS KIWI AS over-raced after negotiating the course crossing then became awkwardly placed to the back of WOODLEA DJ resulting in AS KIWI AS breaking and losing its chance.
Junior Horsewoman K Butt (ZAKSPATROL) was shown the films and cautioned for allowing her foot to be out of the sulky foot-rest for an extended period of time over the early stages.
Authorisation of 1st and 3rd placing's being awarded to NEVERTHELESS and WOODLEA DJ were withheld respectively until it was established that both runners had complied with the Breaking Horse Regulations when in a break over the early stages.
 
Race 7 PAUL RENWICK JOINERY MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
The start of this event was delayed by 1 minute at the request of the TAB.
BRUTE UTE ANVIL broke in the score up losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on the mobile barrier manners of the gelding. The connections advised they would be adding hopple shorteners for future racing.
RALPH proceeded to tire from the 650 metres.
INCOMPARABLE skied its head and raced greenly turning for home.
 
Race 8 MCMILLAN RAPID GAIN HANDICAP TROT Video  Video 
DANKE broke in the early stages losing its chance.
THANKSFORPLAYING and CHERRY LINDENNY broke racing into the first bend.
XMAS JOYELLA and YOUNG STRANGER broke nearing the 100 metres with both of these runners continuing on in a break across the finishing line. The boring pole on YOUNG STRANGER came adrift while the gelding was in a break.
 
Race 9 TWISS-KEIR REAL ESTATE HANDICAP PACE Video  Video 
ROO STAR (R May) was stood down and must trial satisfactorily from a stand on one occasion after it swung sideways at the start severely checking DESTINED FOR GLORY (S Golding) with drivers R May and S Golding being dislodged from their respective sulkies. SUPERINTENDENT was also badly checked in this indecent and lost its chance. Both drivers May and Golding were checked by St-John staff and cleared to fulfil their remaining engagements.
SMOKEN ROMAN paced roughly near the 250 metres.
VERDUN tired over the concluding stages. Driver R Close explained that this mare had raced keenly throughout and he was of the opinion the mare had choked down and would be recommending gear changes prior to its next start.
THE BRIGADIER paced roughly throughout various stages of the event and hung outwards and broke near the 30 metres.
The payment of dividends were delayed to allow Stewards the opportunity to review the start and ascertain if ROO STAR, SUPERINTENDENT or DESTINED FOR GLORY had been denied a fair start. The evidence disclosed that ROO STAR had swung sideways after the tapes had been released checking SUPERINTENDENT and DESTINED FOR GLORY, therefore Stewards were satisfied no runner had been denied a fair start.
Stewards further delayed the payment of dividends after Mr S Blair, representing the owner of DESTINED FOR GLORY requested to view the back straight films to ascertain whether he had grounds to request a ruling with the JCA that this gelding be declared a late scratching having been denied a fair start when being checked at the start by ROO STAR. After taking into account statements from Stewards and Starter P Lamb along with viewing the back straight films, Mr Blair elected not to proceed with the matter and payments were duly authorised.
 
Race 10 MCMILLAN BROODMARE MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
TUBBYS SISTER broke in the score-up losing its chance with a warning placed on the mare's mobile barrier manners.
FRANCO HAMMOND raced keenly when leading in the middle stages.
FRANCO TEVEZ broke near the 300 metres.
ON THE TOWN was held up early in the run home.
MACH DENARIO broke nearing the 150 metres.
 
Race 11 SELWYN COMMUNITY PHARMACY MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
CRIMSON GLORY broke approaching the crossing when leading with driver D Dunn taking this mare inside the pylons to avoid trailing runners before settling towards the rear of the field. Driver D Dunn advised he was of the opinion the mare had cross-fired.
