Race 7 - YALDHURST HOTEL NORTHERN SOUTHLAND CUP (HANDICAP PACE)
Trainer D McLachlan advised the Stewards BETTOR'S BRIGADIER had shown no signs of soreness following this race and after giving the entire a brief let up it was his intention to continue with BETTOR'S BRIGADIER'S training.

Race 1 SOUTHLAND STANDARDBRED BREEDERS ASSN 2YO FILLIES MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
ASHLEIGHS FLIGHT hung over the final stages of the score up and was back off the gate at the dispatch point.
The off side number on GOTTA BEWITCHED became unattached during the early stages of the race when the top buckle broke.
GOTTA BEWITCHED hung throughout the running.
Shortly after straightening for the run home RAKAPORSCHE hung inwards losing its momentum. Shortly afterwards the leader TACT ROUSEY drifted outwards but was immediately straightened by driver B Barclay.
 
Race 2 ZILCO PRODUCTS TROT Video  Video 
SUNDON INVASION broke at the start and on several other occasions during the running.
ONE COOL CHICK was slow to begin then commenced to pace through the early stages before being broken up to return to its correct gait.
MISS COCO trotted roughly racing into the first bend and broke for a few strides before being restrained.
After approximately 300 metres CELESTE FRANCO (C Barron) struck pylons when racing to the inside of THE BADGER (B McLellan) and KATIE DAWN (A Kyle). THE BADGER (B McLellan) was also placed in restricted room for several strides and shortly afterwards broke and failed to settle losing its chance. B McLellan advised THE BADGER had broken on its own accord, however he confirmed he was placed in restricted room briefly. Driver A Kyle was warned for the manner he drove at this point in the race.
CELESTE FRANCO broke with approximately 1600 metres to run when improving its position then broke again with 1200 metres to run.
HOPE AND PRAY trotted roughly in behind throughout the running.
HOPE AND PRAY shifted outwards throughout the back straight on the final occasion when leading.
With 400 metres to run JOHN THE FIB broke.
Near the 300 metres MISS COCO which was challenging for the lead broke.
KATIE DAWN trotted roughly in the home straight.
R McIlwrick advised he elected not to activate the removable deafeners on CHEEKY PAT due to having the field covered.
 
Race 3 THE BETS IN THE BAG CLAIMERS SERIES (HEAT 1) MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
The official track conditions were downgraded to Good prior to this event.
Racing into the first bend FORTYSEVEN CRUISER hung inwards placing FRANCO SYNERGY and PERCIUS in restricted room with PERCIUS dislodging a pylon.
QUICK INCOME raced greenly rounding the first bend and also struck several pylons.
QUICK INCOME was held up throughout the final bend and was unable to gain racing room until shifting wider on the track near the 100 metres.
TARANTO hung inwards when improving in the Passing Lane and raced inside several pylons.
BEAUDIENE GAMBLER failed to gain racing room throughout the home straight before being angled wider on the track over the concluding stages with driver M Williamson advising he was not afforded the opportunity to activate the removable deafeners on the gelding.
Stewards ordered a post-race veterinary examination of QUICK INCOME after it paced roughly during the event more noticeably over the concluding stages. The subsequent examination failed to reveal any clinical abnormalities.
There were no claims lodged for any runners from this event.
 
Race 4 DRESS TO IMPRESS - CUP DAY 2015 MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
There was a delay to the start of this event when the over check on SPRINGFIELD CAL NEVA broke in the early stages of the score up and needed to be replaced.
BARBIE BARDELL hung rounding the first bend then raced greenly near the 1800 metres.
WAYWARD ROC raced keenly through the middle stages when handing up the parked position.
HERE COMES MONKEY gave ground rapidly over the final 400 metres with WAYWARD ROC being held up by the tiring runner. Stewards ordered a post-race veterinary examination of HERE COMES MONKEY which revealed no clinical issues with the entire.
BAD LOVER BOY was also held up rounding the final bend.
SPRINGFIELD CAL NEVA struck pylons just prior to the home straight.
Co-trainer J Cox advised HERE COMES MONKEY would no longer be persevered with as a racing proposition from his stable.
 
Race 5 D DAY 12 APRIL HANDICAP TROT Video  Video 
GOODTOBEBAD was a late scratching at 11.25am on Veterinary advice. Co-trainer J Cox advised he would no longer be persevering with GOODTOBEBAD as a racing proposition from his stable.
STRATHFIELD SUN and CHIOLA BELLE were both slow to begin.
ANOTHER CRUSHER tangled briefly as the start was made.
GEE UP NEDDY broke badly at the start losing all chance.
SUN SHINE WHIZ commenced to give ground from the 900 metres with the Stewards placing a warning on the racing performance of the gelding.
SCARLETT LANE was unable to gain racing room round the final bend and was held up for the majority of the run home.
When questioned regarding the performance of favourite BEYOND A JOKE driver M Williamson advised that after working hard through the middle stages this had taken its toll over the concluding stages and that the gelding may have been better suited to having a single run at the leaders over the final stages.
 
Race 6 BOOK A MINI MARQUEE - CUP DAY 2015 MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
A false start was declared when LOVE FILLY DALE hung inwards and checked THREE TRICKS which was reluctant to take its position. Driver B Barclay elected to remain in his allotted position for the restart however requested the boring pole be removed from LOVE FILLY DALE prior to the restart. The connections were advised the gelding was on a warning for causing a false start.
THREE TRICKS paced greenly round the first bend.
Approaching the 1600 metres THREE TRICKS paced roughly for a few strides when LETS GO CEILIDH (A Beck) shifted ground inwards. Mr Beck was warned for the manner he drove at this point in the race.
HERETIC FRANCO raced keenly when leading throughout the event.
DOUBLE IMPACT over raced through the early stages before improving its position three wide with cover from the 1300 metres.
Passing the 800 metres JETRANGE (R McIlwrick) and VEDIKA (N Williamson) briefly locked wheels with the trailing RAINBOW ROMANCE breaking when having to be restrained sharply be driver K Barclay.
ASTRO BOY and STAR OF COURAGE which had been racing behind RAINBOW ROMANCE had to be steadied at this stage with both these runners losing their momentum.
Passing the 300 metres BEST OF THE BUNCH broke when in second place. Driver K Larsen reported that he believed BEST OF THE BUNCH had resented the use of the whip with trainer D Simpson advising the Stewards he would be considering removing the whip from BEST OF THE BUNCH for its upcoming starts.
LETS GO CEILIDH was denied racing room rounding the final bend and in the home straight.
When questioned regarding the apparent improved performance of HERETIC FRANCO trainer T Barron advised after being slightly disappointed with the first up run at Wyndham he had made some changes to the training regime this week which had improved the racing manners of HERETIC FRANCO. Mr Barron added that he had expected a forward showing today.
 
Race 7 RUGBY CLUB SULKY CHALLENGE MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
Racing into the first bend BETTAKATETHANNEVA broke when racing between PAULA'S ON FIRE (K Barclay) and LOYAL ARDEN (S Walkinshaw).
Rounding the bend by the 500 metres JACCKA EMBERZ which was improving three wide hung inwards and paced roughly.
JOHAN'S JET was held up rounding the final bend and had to shift ground in the home straight to gain clear racing room.
An investigation was held into the breaking of BETTAKATETHANNEVA (A Armour) shortly after the start. After speaking to drivers A Armour, S Walkinshaw (LOYAL ARDEN) and A Beck (QUICK NICK) and reviewing the replays it was established that COMBIEN which had drawn one had hung outwards shortly after the start forcing PAULA'S ON FIRE slightly wider on the track. Simultaneous to this LOYAL ARDEN hung inwards which resulted in BETTAKATETHANNEVA running out of racing room and breaking. The Stewards were satisfied no one horse or horseman was at fault in this incident and no further action was required.
 
Race 8 CUP DAY SATURDAY 24 JANUARY 2015 MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
Racing into the first bend SWITCH ME ON (A Beck) broke and failed to settle for a considerable distance. When being restrained back through the field SWITCH ME ON stumbled and briefly locked wheels with FRANCO RAMIRES on its outer.
With 2300 metres to run NORTHVIEW GAMBLER which was racing in the trail paced roughly and broke losing all chance. The connections of NORTHVIEW GAMBLER were warned to improve the racing manners of their gelding. Trainer M Brown advised it was his intention to return NORTHVIEW GAMBLER to the trials prior to racing next.
BRICKY MCGOWAN over raced during the middle stages and proceeded to give ground from the 800 metres. The connections were advised BRICKY MCGOWAN was stood down until it trials satisfactorily on one occasion prior to racing next. Trainer D Kelly advised it was his intention to try BRICKY MCGOWAN as a trotter in the future.
MINSTREL BOY (S Walkinshaw) and ARDLUSSA COMET (R Swain) made contact when vying for a position near the 700 metres. Mr Walkinshaw was spoken to advisedly regarding this incident.
IRON DUKE (B Shirley) had to be restrained near the 600 metres after attempting to push ELUSIVE EDGAR (A Armour) wider on the track.
JULIA JONES gave ground from the 500 metres.
MACARDO and ONE OUT OF FOUR were both held up rounding the final bend.
