Mr Golding explained that he had worked hard in the early stages to take up a forwards position and was wary of expending any more energies with his runner SONNETSSON which was best suited to being driven with a sit. Mr Golding added that MACH'S GLADIATOR had improved rapidly around him prior to the crossing and was being driven with the whip by driver G Smith and in an attempt, he believed, to assume the lead from STAR BLACK. Golding then said that he did not wish to remain parked when this occurred and so allowed RAKABOLT to progress ahead of him.
