AUSSIE JACK swung sideways when the barriers were released and then galloped losing considerable ground. While in a gallop AUSSIE JACK inconvenienced BIM BOM BAY. The gelding was stood down 14 days up to and including 1 February 2015.
DONNY WOOD broke shortly after the start, causing INNES BOYZ to take evasive action, and trailed the field throughout.
ESPRESSO SHOT broke shortly after the start losing its chance.
WINSOME LUCK broke entering the back straight when leading and settled towards the rear.
INNES BOYZ and SPRINGFIELD HUGH broke near the 1300 metres both losing ground before settling.
SPRINGFIELD HUGH broke free of interference inside the 400 metres.

BILLY THE BAD refused to follow the mobile in the score up losing considerable ground before catching the field at the 1600 metres. This gelding was subsequently stood down for 14 days and declared unruly for mobile starts.
HIGHVIEW LINDA raced keenly three deep on the running line in the middle stages.
CELANDINE was unable to obtain clear racing room in the run home.
TRAVELLING MAN paced roughly in the run home.
MAPUA MABEL was inclined to lay in throughout the run home.
Driver J Abernethy (BILLY THE BAD) was warned to correct his whip action.

THE PRINCE broke 200 metres after the start and settled at the rear. This gelding broke again free of interference passing the 200 metres.
 
Race 4 SMALL & CO ACCOUNTANTS MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
GOLDEN BILLION broke at the start and settled at the rear. A warning was placed against this gelding's manners from the mobile.
LOOSE UNIT over raced through the middle stages.
An information was lodged alleging that Horseman G Martin was in breach of Rule 869(3)(b) in that he drove MALDINI carelessly causing interference to VICTOR IDEAL (S Dickson). VICTOR IDEAL broke with 200 metres to run. The charge was admitted and the JCA imposed a fine of $250.

AQUICKONE became fractious and was reluctant to follow the mobile in the initial stages of the score up before breaking and taking no part. This filly was stood down for 14 days up to and including the 1st of Februry 2015.
WASHINGTON DIVA tired over the final stages.
SAVANNAH MAGUIRE lost its boring pole passing the 1000 metres. Stewards inspected the gear of the horse and found the trainer not to be at fault.
PINUP PONY (favourite) settled back from its wide barrier draw. Driver D Butcher shifted to three wide passing the 1000 metres then restrained to the rear when this filly did not receive cover. PINUP PONY was held up rounding the bend and the early stages of the run home and ran on fairly to finish fourth.
WAVE SONG received clear racing room inside the last 200 metres.
 
Race 6 BOOTLEGGERS AT RAUMATI VILLAGE & KENAKENA MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
MEDIA QUEEN over raced in the middle stages.
MEDIA QUEEN broke with 150 metres to run.
SIGNIFICANT ANVIL weakened approaching the 400 metres inconveniencing CLASSIC BET.
A minor Infringement Notice was issued and $100 fine imposed on Trainer C Dalgety (Caretaker Trainer M O'Brien) for a breach of Rule 864(2)(d) for failing to affix the off fore hopple carrier strap on MEDIA QUEEN so as not to come adrift.

JOHNNY VEGAS was a late scratching in this event at 2.20 pm on veterinary advice as this horse had suffered a colic attack.
BALIUS paced roughly over the early stages when being restrained.
ARD over raced giving Horseman J Abernethy a difficult drive over the early and middle stages.
SAMBUCA JOE was obliged to race wide until near the 1600 metres.
JACK BATES broke near the 600 metres. The gelding was declared ineligible for 14 days up to and including the 1st of February 2015.
SMOOTH DELIGHT commenced to give ground near the 400 metres inconveniencing the trailing MIRO BAY and RANGI RANGDU. RANGI RANGDU was then held up for some distance until near the 200 metres.
An investigation was held into the driving tactics adopted by Drivers S Doody (SMOOTH DELIGHT) and K Marshall (ROYAL KATE) when contesting the lead over the initial stages of the race. Driver K Marshall explained that he adopted the same tactics as when the mare won on the first day of the meeting. He also stated that ROYAL KATE over raced when in the lead and commenced to weaken with 400 metres to run. Overall he was disappointed with the horse's run. Driver S Doody said he also was attempting to take the lead shortly after the start with SMOOTH DELIGHT as these tactics had served the gelding well when racing at Tauherenikau on the 2nd of January 2015. He stated that the time contesting for the lead was manageable and that the overall performance of the horse was very disappointing. Stewards noted their explanations.
 
Race 8 THE RAILWAY HOTEL OTAKI CUP (HANDICAP PACE) Video  Video 
ACES N EIGHTS reared when the barriers were released and then broke losing considerable ground before catching the field near the 1000 metres.
LOFTY BROGDEN was slow early.
BECKINSALE was held up over the early stages of the run home.
GOLDEN DELIGHT was held up for clear racing room throughout the run home.
MACH CRUISER from its 30 metre handicap mark settled third last, improved three wide with cover from inside the 600 metres, seven wide entering the straight, fought on to finish twelfth ten lengths from the winner.
TIJUANA BROMAC settled second last from its 45 metre handicap mark, worked forward three wide without cover from inside the 1000 metres, six wide entering the straight and battled on to finish ninth seven lengths in arrears of the winner.
MAJOR STAR (favourite) settled midfield, improved three wide with 1100 metres to run to race one out without cover approaching the 800 metres. After challenging entering the straight, weakened inside the last 200 metres battling on to finish tenth.
 
Race 9 KAPITI TEN PIN BOWLING MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
STORMY LONDON broke at the start and trailed the field throughout. A warning was placed against this horse's manners from the mobile.
UNMISSUBLE was caught four wide rounding the first bend until obtaining cover near the 1600 metres.
LISA'S LAWYER was held up until inside the last 150 metres.
TAFADHALI failed to get clear racing room throughout the run home.

The boring pole on CLARIUS was removed prior to the start after this gelding became fractious in its preliminary.
PACIFIC RAPTURE paced roughly shortly after the start when its centre hopple carrier strap came adrift.
SOUL HANOVER raced three wide from the 1400 metres.
A Minor Infringement Notice was issued and $100 fine imposed on Trainer J Abernethy for failing to affix the centre hopple carrier strap on PACIFIC RAPTURE so as not to come off.
