Race 7 - MATAURA LICENSING TRUST GORE TROTTING CUP HANDICAP PACE
Trainer I Wilson contacted Stewards following this meeting to advise LE SOL had bled following this race. LE SOL was subsequently stood down for the mandatory 1 month period with a satisfactory trial and veterinary clearance also required. Mr Wilson advised it was his intention to retire LE SOL from racing.

Race 1 LAMB & CATTLE DRIVE SUPPORTERS PACE Video  Video 
QUICK NICK, BAD LOVER BOY, CAESAR'S EMPIRE and SUMTALA all broke at the start or over the early stages.
BAD LOVER BOY paced roughly briefly near the 1900 metres.
JOHAN'S JET paced roughly throughout the event.
BAD LOVER BOY paced roughly for a few strides approaching the 400 metres when taking fright at driver A Beck who was activating gear on QUICK NICK.
MARTIN MCGUINNESS was denied clear racing room round the final bend and for the majority of the run home.
When questioned regarding the performance of QUICK NICK, driver A Beck advised the race did not pan out as hoped and the gelding was not suited by the sprint home.
 
Race 2 BIG JIM AT ALABAR MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
OHOKA BUD was out of position at dispatch after being slow out of the pre-race formation.
HANK BROMAC was obliged to race wide through the early stages before reaching the parked position with 1500 metres to run.
BOLD RULER over-raced through the early and middle stages before improving to the parked position with 800 metres to run.
Nearing the 300 metres HERE COMES MONKEY which had been over-racing broke when being angled out for a run with this horse breaking again over the final stages of the race. Co-trainer/driver JW Cox requested that HERE COMES MONKEY be placed on the Unruly for future mobile starts after the gelding become fired up over the early stages of the race.
ZAC MAC was held up through the early stages of the run home.
DISSOLUTION failed to gain racing room throughout the home straight with driver JH Cox advising he did not activate the removable deafeners.
When questioned regarding the performance of favoured runner FORGOTTEN RUNNER, driver D Dunn advised he was disappointed with the run. Stewards requested a post-race veterinary examination of the gelding which revealed a slow recovery rate.
 
Race 3 PANSPACIFICFLIGHT@MACCA LODGE MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
Trainer R Korostchuk defended a breach of Rule 849(2) alleging that he presented RESCARN with an incorrect saddle cloth number. After hearing evidence from Mr Korostchuk and stable representative Mr B van Leerdam, the JCA upheld the breach and imposed a fine of $50 after taking into consideration mitigating circumstances.
RESCARN paced roughly just after dispatch.
GO GRUNTER raced greenly and lay outwards when negotiating the first bend.
STAR SINGER tired from the 450 metres.
DEVINE CULLECT was held up rounding the final bend and through the middle stages of the run home when attempting to improve into the passing lane.
QUICK INCOME was held up for clear racing room over the early stages of the home straight.
MILLWOOD HOPE which was leading raced greenly after passing the 100 metres.
Starter N Popham was shown a replay of the start and spoken to in relation to the speed of the mobile barrier at the dispatch point.
 
Race 4 WYNDHAM WORKOUTS COMMITTEE HANDICAP TROT Video  Video 
The boring pole was removed from IDLE EYRE prior to the start after the gelding had warmed up unfavourably during the preliminary.
KAIZEN and BEYOND A JOKE both broke at the start with KAIZEN breaking again rounding the first bend.
IDLE EYRE broke briefly at the start and was very slow over the early stages.
Shortly after the start BELMONT INVASION broke.
Nearing the 1700 metres LOVE THE MOMENT broke losing its chance.
HOPE AND PRAY proceeded to tire from the 600 metres.
IDLE EYRE made the final bend very awkwardly and ran off prior to the home straight before finishing strongly down the outside of the track for 3rd placing. Trainer/driver N Williamson advised he would be making gear alterations for IDLE EYRE's next start.
SUNDON INVASION broke nearing the 150 metre mark when challenging the leaders.
SNOOP DOG also broke passing the 150 metres.
Driver F Service was spoken to by the Stewards regarding the manner he drove when leading with MISS COCO through the early and middle stages of the race.
Driver H Hunter (SIXTY PLUS) reported he had received a punctured sulky tyre during the running.
IDLE EYRE was placed on the Unruly for future standing starts at the request of trainer N Williamson.
 
Race 5 ALABAR KINDERGARTEN STAKES 21ST FEBRUARY MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
Trainer H Hunter was issued a Minor Infringement Notice pursuant to Rule 865(2) in that he presented ASTRO BOY to run in this event with Sliding Blinds that were not notified and was fined $100 by the JCA.
INDEFINITE was back off the gate at dispatch point.
ASTRO BOY raced fiercely when being restrained to obtain cover through the early stages.
RAINBOW ROMANCE was held up rounding the final bend.
HERETIC FRANCO and IRON DUKE were both held up on the final bend by the tiring SUNNY TWO SHOES with IRON DUKE also racing in restricted room for the majority of the run home.
INDEFINITE was held up for clear racing room for the majority of the home straight.
When questioned regarding the performance of favoured runner ASTRO BOY, driver S Walkinshaw advised the gelding had travelled well during the running however had nothing to offer over the concluding stages when asked for an effort. A post-race veterinary examination of ASTRO BOY revealed the gelding to have an elevated heart rate.
When questioned regarding the improved performance of BOOTIE BROMAC, trainer/driver K Larsen reported that he had received a favourable run today and the race was a significant drop in class from the mare's recent racing.
 
Race 6 MLT/THREE RIVERS HOTEL MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
CAESARS GAMBLE (J Cox) was back off the gate at dispatch. J Cox was reminded of his obligations in regard to ensuring he maintains his barrier position until dispatch point is reached.
BRICKY MCGOWAN raced keenly through the early stages.
ARDLUSSA COMET, DONNAMACH and ROSIE LINDENNY all raced wide in the early stages.
NORTHVIEW GAMBLER paced roughly when attempting to improve three wide from the 1400 metres.
BRICKY MCGOWAN gave ground from the 600 metres. Stewards requested a post-race veterinary examination of BRICKY MCGOWAN which revealed no abnormalities. Trainer D Kelly was advised a warning was placed on the racing performance of the gelding and there was an expectation for BRICKY MCGOWAN to race more competitively in the future.
NORTHVIEW GAMBLER broke again when challenging the leaders with 250 metres to run with the trailing LETS GO CEILIDH being held up.
CAESARS GAMBLE was unable to find racing room throughout the run home.
Stewards requested a post-race veterinary examination of NORTHVIEW GAMBLER after it appeared lame in its gait while returning to the birdcage. The subsequent examination revealed a minor abrasion to the near side front coronet region.
 
Race 7 MLT/PIONEER TAVERN MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
A false start was declared when NOAH FLYIN C C broke in the score up checking several trailing runners. Driver N Williamson elected to start NOAH FLYIN C C from the Unruly position for the restart.
In the restart NOAH FLYIN C C broke free of interference racing into the first bend losing all chance and was subsequently pulled up from the running. The connections were advised NOAH FLYIN C C was on a warning for its mobile barrier manners for causing a false start and also for its racing manners. Stewards placed NOAH FLYIN C C on the Unruly for future mobile starts. Trainer/driver N Williamson advised he would no longer be persevering with the gelding as a racing proposition from his stable.
Passing the 1700 metres OUTA THE FRIDGE skied its head when GREAT ABBEY improved three wide on its outer.
PATCHWORK CLOUD hung and broke near the 400 metres with the trailing PERCIUS being severely checked. The cropper on PERCIUS also slipped off during this incident.
The connections of PATCHWORK CLOUD were advised the mare was stood down until it trials to the satisfaction of the Stewards on one occasion prior to racing next. Trainer L Veint advised he would be reassessing the future racing prospects of PATCHWORK CLOUD.
KILKENNY TURK was held up prior to the home straight and hung inwards throughout the run home.
 
Race 8 KINA CRAIG WYNDHAM CUP 21ST FEBRUARY MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
TUAPEKA TOFF raced three wide without cover until the 1900 metres.
SCHERGER ROYAL over-raced through the early stages before driver D Dunn elected to progress forward to the lead with 1500 metres to run.
MATAI VISION gave ground on the final bend hampering FRANCO RAMIRES and CLEO MAGUIRE with CLEO MAGUIRE then held up for the majority of the run home.
BAD KATE paced roughly over the concluding stages of the race.
When questioned regarding the performance of SCHERGER ROYAL, driver D Dunn advised the gelding had over-raced proving difficult to control early and the effort had taken its toll over the final stages.
Driver K Barclay (TISBURY HARDLIFE) reported she received a punctured sulky tyre early in the run home.
Trainer W Adams was issued a Minor Infringement Notice and fined $100 for presenting BOBBIE MCARDLE to race with non-notified gear.
