After initially advising that he would no longer persevere with KWIK from his stable, trainer G Telfer informed Stewards that the gelding had responded well to a change in its training regime and that he would now continue with the racing preparation of the horse.
Co-trainer G Hope advised that it had been incorrectly reported to Stewards that MAGOOGAN would be sent for a spell after its last start on 14 December 2014. Mr Hope reported that it had only been the stables intention to freshen the horse prior to its next start.

Race 1 NORTH OTAGO MOTOR GROUP FILLIES & MARES MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
ALTISSIMO was reluctant to leave the pre-race formation despite the efforts of driver M Purvis and was out of position at the start. Stewards placed a warning on the mobile barrier manners of ALTISSIMO.
DANA DYNASTY and ZOEROTTEN were placed in restricted room racing into the first bend when positioned to the inside of MILLWOOD CHARITY which shifted inwards. Driver M Prendergast (MILLWOOD CHARITY) was shown a replay and warned to ensure he leaves sufficient room for inside runners in future.
ARTISTRY raced wide from the 1200 metres and then commenced to tire when hanging inwards rounding the final bend. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. When questioned regarding the performance of this filly, driver R May could offer no explanation other than to advise he was disappointed with the effort.
KWIK tired from the 700 metres with the connections warned to improve the mare's racing performance. Trainer/driver G Telfer advised Stewards that he would return KWIK to the trials prior to resuming
MILLWOOD CHARITY was held up rounding the final bend and until late in the run home.
DANA DYNASTY hung inwards in the run home.
POLLYANNA BLUE CHIP hung outwards passing the 100 metres.
 
Race 2 ROYDON LODGE TROT Video  Video 
WANDERING STAR, ONE YANKEE HALL, ROYDON'S JEWEL and FRANCO HELIOS broke in the early stages.
Racing towards the first bend LOVE STRUCK ROMEO broke resulting in checks to BEINN THARSUINN and HEARD THE WHISPER with BEINN THARSUINN breaking.
LOVE STRUCK ROMEO broke again approaching the 1600 metres.
ILLUSTRIOUS QUEEN over-raced in the middle stages when in the parked position.
JAG'S SON hung inwards on the final bend when improving three wide.
SEE YA and LITTLE MISS were held up for clear racing room on the final bend.
HEARD THE WHISPER hung inwards and trotted roughly in the run home.
The near-side quick hitch attachment on the sulky of HEARD THE WHISPER became detached on the final bend, however was held in place by the safety strap, this gear was inspected by Stewards and found to be in previously satisfactory condition.
Authorisation of 2nd placing being awarded to ROYDON'S JEWEL was withheld until Stewards had viewed replays and were satisfied that this filly had complied with the Breaking Horse Regulations when breaking in the early stages.
 
Race 3 PGG WRIGHTSON STANDARDBRED PACE Video  Video 
SPEECHLESS hung inwards and raced greenly throughout. Driver G O'Reilly advised that he would be recommending gear changes to trainer D Jones.
CAPTAIN THUNDERJET hung inwards when improving three wide near the 1500 metres.
MAGOOGAN broke passing the 700 metres losing its chance. When questioned regarding this, driver R May was of the opinion the gelding did not handle the track.
CAPTAIN THUNDERJET again hung inwards on the final bend.
Driver C DeFilippi (WOODSTOCK) reported that he had sustained a punctured sulky tyre during the running.
 
Race 4 LIS MARA MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
THE EMPEROR ROBYN and HOUDINI were back a length at the start after both horses hung in the score up.
TUAPEKA TROY raced greenly when leading near the 1100 metres and shifted outwards momentarily.
HOLY HARRY gave ground from the 500 metres.
THE EMPEROR ROBYN was held up for clear racing room on the final bend.
FLAGPOLE was denied clear racing room on the final bend and the early and middle stages of the run home.
HOUDINI was denied clearance throughout the home straight.
THE EMPEROR ROBYN hung inwards over the concluding stages.
Driver C DeFilippi reported that he was unable to activate the removable deafeners on GERALD after the cord became entangled.
When questioned regarding the performance of TUAPEKA TROY, driver S Ottley could offer no explanation. Stewards requested a veterinary examination of the gelding which revealed lameness in the right fore leg. The connections were advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to the horse resuming.
 
Race 5 FAT SALLY'S PUB & RESTAURANT PACE Video  Video 
LACROIX FRANCO, MIDFREW TARPEDIEM, HIGHLAND REIGN, SHE'S GOT IT and CRIMSON GLORY broke at the start.
SCANRECO BAY had to check around breaking runners in the early stages.
Near the 200 metres MIDFREW TARPEDIEM paced roughly when awkwardly placed close to the sulky wheel of LACROIX FRANCO which shifted ground outwards marginally.
THE BLACK, MIDFREW TARPEDIEM, HIGHLAND REIGN, FASTROUNDTOWN, LACROIX FRANCO and PRIVATE JONES were held up for clear racing room at various stages of the run home.
 
Race 6 SPRINGBANK HANDICAP TROT Video  Video 
The required veterinary clearance was received for SIR LEXINGTON to resume racing.
MUM BEAT LYALL underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after falling to the track and was cleared to start.
THEBESTLOVE trotted roughly in the early stages.
LOTHARIO broke near the 1400 metres.
CLIFDEN CLOWERS gave ground from the 900 metres. A veterinary examination of the gelding revealed no abnormalities. Stewards placed a warning on the racing performance of the horse. The connections advised that CLIFDEN CLOWERS would now be sent for a spell and return to the trials prior to resuming.
SIR LEXINGTON trotted roughly near the 600 metres.
MOKOSUN hung inwards on the final bend and in the early stages of the run home.
Driver N Williamson (NO POTATO) reported that he had sustained a punctured sulky tyre early in the run home.
Driver B Orange (THEBESTLOVE) briefly dropped his foot from the sulky foot-rest when activating the sliding blinds near the 200 metres.
 
Race 7 SOUTHERN WINES MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
SMART CAESAR was a late scratching at 8.55am on veterinary advice. A veterinary clearance will be required prior to the gelding resuming.
JACKO was back a length at the start despite the efforts of Driver J Hay.
Stewards investigated a perceived breach of the Push Out Rule near the 1100 metres when FIERY LUSTRE shifted outwards as BUTE COURAGE was improving wider on the track. After viewing the replays it was established that driver B Orange (FIERY LUSTRE) had commenced his shift outwards prior to BUTE COURAGE (R May) reaching his sulky wheel. No further action was deemed necessary.
JACKO hung inwards and paced roughly on the final bend.
SONNETSSON was held up for clear racing room in the early and middle stages of the run home.
 
Race 8 PGG WRIGHTSON HANDICAP PACE Video  Video 
The boring pole on RAKABOLT was removed prior to the start after the gelding warmed up unfavourably.
The start was delayed when MACH'S LOVE reared and charged the barrier strand despite the efforts of driver D White. Stewards placed a warning on the standing start manners of this mare.
STAR BLACK, DESTINED FOR GLORY and LIVE LIFE BETTA broke at the start.
STERNS ARISING raced fiercely near the 2100 metres when restrained to take a trail behind STAR BLACK.
MACH'S LOVE over-raced in the middle stages.
STRIKE ON COMMAND and LIVE LIFE BETTA tired on the final bend.
Stewards requested a veterinary examination of STRIKE ON COMMAND which revealed no abnormalities.
JERRY GARCIA and MACH'S LOVE had difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the early and middle stages of the run home.
When questioned regarding the performance of REGULUS, driver D Dunn advised that in his opinion the gelding did not handle the track.
 
Race 9 MONARCHY TROT Video  Video 
MRS TWOBOB and MARTINI broke at the start.
MALDARNA and SOLAR SAM trotted roughly in the early stages.
Racing towards the first bend TEHORO RUBY broke.
SHELL SEEKER hung inwards rounding the first bend.
ONE TWO KENNY and MARTINI over raced in the middle stages.
TEHORO RUBY and GORILLA PLAYBOY gave ground on the final bend.
PRESTINE, SOLAR SAM and MARTINI were held up for clear racing room on the final bend.
Near the 200 metres ONE TWO KENNY hung outwards when positioned to the outside of MARTINI.
Shortly after PRESTINE broke when attempting a marginal run between ONE TWO KENNY and INSIGNIFICANT. Driver K Butt (PRESTINE) was cautioned for attempting to improve between runners when not in a position to do so.
SARAH PALIN underwent a post-race veterinary examination at the request of the connections which revealed that the mare was suffering from muscle tie-up.
 
Race 10 CHANGEOVER MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
A false start was declared when CHANTREY shifted inwards in the score up causing checks to several runners.
Driver C DeFilippi elected to start CHANTREY from the unruly position at the restart. Stewards placed a warning on the mobile barrier record of this gelding.
BILLY JACK paced roughly rounding the first bend when jostling for a position with FLORETA.
CULINARY DELIGHT over-raced in the middle stages.
DAG AND WASHINGTON gave ground on the final bend.
FLORETA paced roughly on the final bend.
SPIRIT OF CHRONOS hung inwards and paced roughly early in the run home.
BOBBY T was held up by the tiring CERATO early in the run home.
SUPRIYA and CULINARY DELIGHT were denied clear racing room in the early stages of the home straight.
Driver B Orange (SUPRIYA) briefly dropped his foot from the sulky foot-rest near the 200 metres.
 
Race 11 MORRISONS SADDLERY MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
WHO KNOWS paced roughly in the score up briefly inconveniencing MIGHTY PERUVIAN and was back slightly at the start.
Racing into the first bend WHO KNOWS broke when positioned to the inside of GARBO which shifted ground inwards resulting in WHO KNOWS losing its chance. Drivers P Kay (GARBO) and J Cox (WHO KNOWS) were questioned regarding this incident and after hearing from both drivers, Mr Kay was issued with a charge under Rule 869(3)(b) in that he drove carelessly causing WHO KNOWS to be checked. After viewing the available replays and hearing the evidence, the JCA upheld the charge and Mr Kay's horseman's licence was suspended from the conclusion of racing today up to and including 6 February 2015 (7 days).
GIVETHEJOBTOBARNSY gave ground on the final bend hampering the trailing WESTBURN WARRIOR.
HUDSON SULLY was denied clear racing room in the early and middle stages of the run home.
STANS DAY and FAIR DINKUM BROMAC were momentarily placed in restricted room when HUDSON SULLY shifted ground outwards in search of clear running near the 50 metres.
