Race 2 - UPPER CUTS BUTCHERY MOBILE PACE
Trainer R Swain advised that following a disappointing performance, DOCEY DOE underwent blood tests which revealed no abnormalities. Mr Swain further added he would now continue with the current preparation of DOCEY DOE.

Race 1 BISHOPDALE & BUSH INN TABS/TAVERN HAREWOOD MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
SUPREME SIGN, ROME and FAIR DINKUM BROMAC were back off the gate when pacing roughly in the latter stages of the score up.
VALHALLA paced roughly after approximately 100 metres.
With approximately 1100 metres to run TAIERI WINGS (P Anderson) was tightened when SUPREME SIGN was improving three wide to the parked position. After reaching the parked position near the 900 metre mark SUPREME SIGN broke with TAIERI WINGS shifting wider on the track to avoid the breaking runner. The favourite MACH OF THE MAN was subsequently pushed four wide.
FAIR DINKUM BROMAC paced roughly for a few strides when striking the sulky of FLORETA near the 450 metre mark. As a result the front hopple loop broke.
SUPREME SIGN raced in restricted room near the 600 metre mark when MACH OF THE MAN was racing greenly to its outer.
SUPREME SIGN gave ground from the 500 metres.
Passing the 200 metres ALEXY broke when improving into the Passing Lane with driver M Stratford then attempting to activate the removable deafeners.
SELESTER had to shift ground outwards in the home straight to obtain clear racing room.
Authorisation of 2nd placing being awarded to ALEXY was withheld until Stewards were satisfied the gelding was not in its incorrect gait in excess of 50 metres in the home straight.
Driver G Anderson advised the favourite MACH OF THE MAN was never on the bit and he had received a checkered run throughout.
When questioned regarding the improved performance of VALHALLA, trainer/driver G Cook advised he believed the gelding was travelling well in its previous race at Omakau when it broke and lost its chance and he was confident of a good showing today.
Stewards questioned horsemen G Anderson (MACH OF THE MAN) and J Bennett (SUPREME SIGN) in relation to when SUPREME SIGN raced four wide passing the 1800 metres. Mr G Anderson advised he had already commenced to shift three wide to follow out TAIERI WINGS prior to Mr Bennett improving on his outside with SUPREME SIGN. Mr Bennett believed he had been pushed wider on the track however he had been able to get back into the three wide line shortly afterwards. Due to the limited available video coverage of this incident, Stewards issued G Anderson with a warning to ensure he has shifted ground prior to the improving runner passing his sulky wheel.
Driver G Bull was warned for allowing his horse FAIR DINKUM BROMAC to strike a sulky wheel near the 450 metre mark.
Driver M Stratford (ALEXY) was issued with a warning to ensure he immediately returns a breaking runner to its correct gait.
Driver J Bennett (SUPREME SIGN) was warned to ensure he allows runners on his inside sufficient room after he improved his position three wide near the 1100 metre mark.
 
Race 2 VAN DER VOORT FAMILY/HARLIWICH HOLDINGS TROT Video  Video 
After the tapes were released CRUSADER COVERGIRL reared and swung sideways checking ILLUSTRIOUS QUEEN and SUNNIVUE SADONA. A warning was placed on the standing start manners of the mare
LOVE THE MOMENT and JAG'S SON both broke racing into the first bend. As a result the trailing KATIE DAWN also broke.
ILLUSTRIOUS QUEEN raced wide without cover through the early and middle stages.
ILLUSTRIOUS QUEEN made the bend awkwardly near the 1200 metres after LIMA LAD had shifted ground outwards.
CHEEKY PAT and ILLUSTRIOUS QUEEN both hung rounding the bend by the 900 metres.
CONTINENTAL LOVER broke with 750 metres to run.
With 500 metres to run SUNNIVUE SADONA which was improving three wide hung inwards and broke.
R McIlwrick reported he did not activate the removable deafeners on STRATHFIELD SUN due to having the field covered.
B Williamson reported to the Stewards that JAG'S SON had broken racing into the first bend when he had taken hold of the horse as he was aware of the breaking LOVE THE MOMENT in front of him.
 
Race 3 REMARKABLE ORCHARD/NIGHT'N DAY/NEW WORLD ALEX MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
Trainer K Barclay admitted a breach of Rule 849(2) in that she presented LIS IS FINE with the incorrect saddle cloth number and was fined $100 by the JCA.
ROBYN'S BAD BOY hung through the early stages.
SAUCHIEHALL raced wide through the early stages.
ROBYN'S BAD BOY hung badly when improving three wide near the 1100 metres placing driver C Ferguson in difficulty so he elected to ease to the back of the field.
ONEDIN ONYX was held up throughout the final bend and for the majority of the run home before improving into a marginal gap over the concluding stages.
ROBYN'S BAD BOY had to shift ground in the home straight to find clear racing room.
The near side number on HANK BROMAC became semi-detached during the running.
Driver M Williamson reported he did not activate the removable deafeners on ONEDIN ONYX.
 
Race 4 KEEP IT CLEAN/ROXBURGH COMBINED SPONSORS MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
ANNAJODI (A Armour) and DEVINE CULLECT (B Williamson) locked wheels for a considerable distance shortly after the start when NEWMANS JET had run out slightly. As a result THE CHARGING MOA had to be restrained before improving three wide around ANNAJODI and DEVINE CULLECT.
RED ELECTRIC made the bend awkwardly when improving its position three wide from the 1500 metres.
Approaching the 1100 metre PAULA'S ON FIRE which had been racing fiercely broke.
NEWMANS JET raced keenly through the middle stages.
DEVINE CULLECT commenced to give ground from the 500 metres.
NEWMANS JET was denied clear racing room rounding the final bend.
When questioned regarding the performance of PAULA'S ON FIRE, driver N Williamson advised Stewards the mare had over-raced and had choked down. Stewards requested a post-race veterinary examination of PAULA'S ON FIRE which was retired from the event shortly after breaking near the 1100 metres with this examination revealing no abnormalities.
 
Race 5 GRAND TAVERN/WATERLOO HOTEL/MCINTYRE FLANNERY TAIT MOB PACE Video  Video 
The start of this event was delayed 2 minutes at the request of the TAB due to an on-course power outage.
A false start was declared when LAWLESS (J Cox) broke in the score up and checked CALLMEKIWI on the second line. Driver J Cox elected to start from the outside of the second line for the restart. A warning for causing a false start was placed on the racing record of LAWLESS.
LAWLESS was back off the gate in the restart by approximately four lengths.
CALLMEKIWI hung inwards rounding the first bend.
KOWHAI KING gave ground on the final bend with the trailing CALLMEKIWI being badly held up.
LIGHTNING FLIGHT (favourite) was caught parked over the early stages before improving to the lead passing the 1500 metres and was run down in the final 150 metres.
When questioned regarding the performance of favourite LIGHTNING FLIGHT, co-trainer/driver G Lee advised he was disappointed with the effort and could offer no tangible reason.
LAWLESS was placed on the Unruly at the request of trainer M Brown.
 
Race 6 SGT DAN'S STOCKFOOD HANDICAP TROT Video  Video 
DWINDLE MIST broke briefly at the start.
OCH AYE THE NOO broke after approximately 150 metres losing all chance.
ANOTHERSUPERSTAR broke after 250 metres when leading.
NOTRE DAME broke with 2400 metres to race with the trailing KNAPDALE GIRL breaking when attempting to restrain off the back of the breaking NOTRE DAME.
SNOW BOY broke near the 2200 metres.
FRENCH DESIRE broke approaching the 1800 metres when being challenged for the lead by DAVEY'S GIFT.
KOWHAI SUNRISE broke passing the 1700 metres inconveniencing FRENCH DESIRE which was obliged to race wider on the track briefly.
ANOTHERSUPERSTAR broke again near the 900 metres.
SOUTHLAND REFLECTOR broke at the 550 metres.
SCARLETT LANE was held up rounding the final bend.
DWINDLE MIST hung inwards on the final bend.
NO POTATO broke early in the run home inconveniencing KOWHAI SUNRISE which was running on strongly.
FINAL SECRET broke late in the run home.
M Williamson reported he did not activate the removable deafeners on DAVEY'S GIFT.
 
Race 7 MACCA LODGE/REDPATHS/VET EQUINE PACE Video  Video 
Due to an administration error J Cox was incorrectly shown in publications as the driver for OHCEE instead of M Neilson with this information being disseminated through the appropriate channels.
SPRINGFIELD CAL NEVA was fractious prior to the start and then charged through the barrier strand resulting in starter B Ward being obliged to turn the field out of line. SPRINGFIELD CAL NEVA was then sent to the outside of the second line for the restart with a warning being placed on the standing start manners of the mare.
COURAGE TO FLY and SPRINGFIELD CAL NEVA were both slow to begin.
QUICK NICK broke at the start.
SPRINGFIELD CAL NEVA raced greenly at the back of the field throughout.
REAL LOVE paced roughly passing the 400 metres with the trailing COURAGE TO FLY being held up.
 
Race 8 TRANSWORLD/CENTRAL COURAGE SYNDICATE PACE Video  Video 
STAR OF COURAGE, SUNNIVUE BAY BOY and MATAI VISION broke at the start.
Leaving the straight by the 1900 metres NIGHTMARCH hung outwards and briefly locked wheels with TWICE THE DELIGHT which allowed STAGGER LEE to shift ground outwards.
SCHWARTZ DENARIO (favourite) was caught three wide without cover from the 800 metres.
MATAI VISION was caught four wide from the 700 metres.
STAGGER LEE and HALSTON BROMAC were both held up rounding the final bend with STAGGER LEE unable to obtain clear running until the final 150 metres.
When questioned regarding the performance of favoured runner TWICE THE DELIGHT, trainer/driver M Jones advised he was disappointed with the filly's effort, however she had blown hard after the race and would derive benefit from today's race.
Stewards requested a post-race veterinary examination of favoured runner SCHWARTZ DENARIO after finishing at the back of the field. The subsequent examination revealed no abnormalities.
Driver N Williamson reported he elected not activate the removable deafeners on TAS MAN BROMAC due to having the field well covered.
 
Race 9 PETERS GENETICS ROXBURGH CUP (HANDICAP PACE) Video  Video 
STARSKY'S DREAM was declared a late scratching at 5.08pm on veterinary advice. STARSKY'S DREAM had suffered abrasions and lacerations to its off-side hind hock when having its leg caught over a rail in the tie up area. A veterinary clearance will be required prior to STARSKY'S DREAM resuming.
MATCH POINT and MILLIGAN both broke over the early stages.
After the tapes were released HERE WE GO AGAIN swung sideways and refused to move off on terms with the remainder of the field losing all chance. HERE WE GO AGAIN was eventually retired from the event.
Passing the 1900 metres after AL RAZA shifted outwards to improve to the parked position, there was a slight easing of the pace with a concertina effect back through the field which resulted in MILLIGAN making the bend awkwardly.
AL RAZA raced fiercely in the middle stages when racing in the parked position from 1600 metres.
SHAK'N CULLEN hung inwards when driver G Lee attempted to shift ground wider on the track with 200 metres to run resulting in SHAK'N CULLEN losing its momentum.
 
Race 10 EUREKA 7 TRUST/PEMBROOKS DELIGHT VICTORY MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
TITAN BANNER made the bend awkwardly when improving three wide near the 1300 metres.
BEAUDIENE CLEMINTYNE and MY GUY MAC both raced keenly through the middle stages.
MY GUY MAC was held up rounding the final bend.
MACHRIE was held up round the final bend and throughout the run home and went to the line untested by driver B Barclay.
Driver B Orange reported he received a punctured sulky tyre on MCCOVEY COVE near the 100 metres.
When questioned regarding the performance of favourite TITAN BANNER, driver D Dunn advised that the horse had failed to handle the bends today but ran on well over the final stages. He further advised the connections would be spelling the gelding prior to next racing.
 
Race 11 KINA CRAIG/AON INSURANCE/CLUTHA PACKING CENTRE MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
UNIQUE CHANCE was a late scratching at 10.25am on veterinary advice.
SWITCH ME ON paced roughly over the final stages of the score up and was back off the gate at the dispatch.
Racing into the first bend ROSIE LINDENNY paced roughly and broke briefly inconveniencing MINSTREL BOY and RATTLING THUNDER with both of these runners improving around the outside of ROSIE LINDENNY.
ARDLUSSA COMET over-raced placing driver B Williamson in difficulty between the 1500 metres and 1100 metres.
TISBURY HARDLIFE raced greenly in the home straight.
When questioned regarding the performance of favoured runner LIS TUREEN, driver C Ferguson advised the mare had travelled well until the 500 metres however had struggled over the final stages due to the quick tempo of today's race. Mr Ferguson further added at its previous start when LIS TUREEN ran on strongly it was in a slow final half which may have made the run look better than what it actually was.
When questioned regarding the performance of favoured runner TUAPEKA TOFF, driver M Williamson advised that the mare had struggled to maintain contact with the leaders over the final stages due to the fast pace of today's race.
N Williamson reported he elected not to activate the removable deafeners on KIWI FOCUS.
