MAJOR CLASSIC (G Small) was marginally out of position at dispatch.
CHERRY EVANS (P Ferguson) paced roughly after negotiating the crossing near the 1600 metres.
CHERRY EVANS hung in passing the 200 metres when attempting to improve outside the wheel of MAJOR CLASSIC and then paced roughly over the final stages.
MCRUBBLE (F Cossey) ran wide when making its finishing run over the final 200 metres.
 
Race 2 OSBORNE GROUP MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
MAJOR CHANGE broke when negotiating the crossing near the 1600 metres and came back onto VAN DALES DELIGHT (A Drake), SHEZA BRIGHT STAR (S Dickson), SKIP N SARAH (P Ferguson) and HEY KNOWITALL (D Jones) with GOLDEN BILLION (J Dickie) also having to take evasive action. VAN DALES DELIGHT lost considerable ground in this incident.
HAPPYANUKNOWIT hung out throughout and near the 700 metres broke severely hampering MAJOR CHANGE. A warning was placed against the racing manners of HAPPYANUKNOWIT.
SKIP N SARAH was cleared from the unruly for future mobile starts at the request of co-trainer M O'Brien.
GOLDEN BILLION was cleared from the unruly for future mobile starts at the request of trainer K Tarrant.
 
Race 3 CONNIE STEWART AT BAYLEYS MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
CONCORD LASS (A Drake) broke at dispatch and ran in inconveniencing BUTE MACH (G Small).
BENJI MAGUIRE (S Kane) paced roughly for a short distance after the start.
JOHNNY VEGAS (B Butcher) paced roughly for a short distance when being restrained off the back of BRANCH RICKEY (B Taylor) near the 1700 metres.
BRANCH RICKEY pulled hard in the early stages and was taken forward near the 1100 metres to race adjacent to the leader with BRANCH RICKEY continuing to pull hard for some distance.
BULLY'S ROCKET (S Abernethy) was held up passing the 400 metres and only obtained clear racing room near the 100 metres.
EVERLASTING GRACE (D Butcher) was held up rounding the turn until near the 150 metres.
S Doody (SMOOTH DELIGHT) was issued with a warning under Rule 869(2)(a) with respect to the use of his whip over the final stages.

DRIVING THE DRAGON (G Small) raced wide around the first turn before being taken forward to lead.
PRIME LEGAL (S Abernethy) pulled hard in the early and middle stages.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of HOT MACH, driver D Butcher advised that the horse was under pressure passing the 1000 metres and failed to respond. Stewards ordered a post-race veterinary examination of HOT MACH which revealed the gelding to be in a distressed condition. HOT MACH was attended to by the on-course veterinarian.
