Race Comments
Race 1 CHRISTIAN CULLEN AT NEVELE R STUD AMATEUR DRIVER MOBILE PACE Video  Video
No claims were lodged for MULLINGAR MAC or DEBS PAL.
MULLINGAR MAC galloped in the initial stages of the score up and trailed the field throughout. This gelding was placed on the unruly for future mobile starts.
DEBS PAL which was racing four back on the inner, broke near the 700 metres losing its chance. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed that DEBS PAL was sore in the off-fore leg, with the gelding being stood down pending a veterinary clearance.
EASY FOR CULLEN was held up for clear running until late in the run home, and as a result driver M Northcott was unable to activate the removable deafeners.

Race 2 DUNSTAN NUTRITION MOBILE TROT Video  Video

MIGHTY SUNNY broke briefly in the early stages of the score up and was marginally back from position at dispatch.
SUCCESSIONAL broke shortly after the start losing all chance.
A NIGHT IN PARIS trotted roughly early and then broke approaching the winning post and trailed the field.
A GLASS OF TANQUERAY broke on the first turn losing its chance.
MIGHTY SUNNY pulled hard during the middle stages when trailing the leader.

Race 3 AUSTRALASIAN CLASSIC YEARLING SALE FEBRUARY 16TH MOBILE TROT Video  Video

MA CILLE was held up for clear running over the latter stages of the run home.

Race 4 NRM ASSET MOBILE PACE Video  Video
THE MOONRAKER broke shortly after the start and settled at the rear. A final warning was placed on the gelding's mobile barrier manners.
DIAMOND SUPREME broke on the first turn and trailed the field throughout. A warning was placed against this colt's racing manners.
CULLECT THE GOLD (favourite) raced without cover throughout but was under pressure leaving the back straight the final time and weakened to finish in 10th place beaten 20 lengths. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. When questioned regarding the performance, trainer/ driver T Mitchell could offer no explanation and was disappointed with the run.
TEMBI was badly held up leaving the back straight and also the final turn when taken back through the field by the tiring CULLECT THE GOLD before obtaining clear racing room near the 250 metres and finished on strongly into 5th place.

Race 5 NZ PREMIER YEARLING SALE 17 & 18 FEBRUARY MOBILE PACE Video  Video
Approaching the 950 metres SPARE CHANGE which was improving around three wide, shifted in and momentarily tightened the ground of AQUICKONE.
SWEET MAGGIE RYAN broke near the 850 metres when racing towards the rear losing several lengths before settling. A warning was placed against this filly's racing manners.
CTHEBALLERINA (favourite) was briefly held up on the final turn in behind ARMS OF AN ANGEL (leader) before utilising the passing lane to be narrowly beaten into 2nd place.

Race 6 BROGDEN LODGE TRANSPORT MOBILE PACE Video  Video
STYX IT TO EM broke just short of the winning post. A Protest was lodged against the 4th placing of STYX IT TO EM under Rule 870(5) on the grounds that this gelding was in its incorrect gait at the winning post and was lapped on by the 5th placed GLENLOCHAR. The connections did not contest the Protest and STYX IT TO EM was relegated in behind GLENLOCHAR.
A further Protest was lodged against the 2nd placing of FREESPIN under Rule 869(7B) on the grounds that this gelding shifted inwards on the final turn which resulted in its sulky wheel protruding inside the track marker line for more than 30 metres thereby gaining an unfair advantage over other runners. The Protest was upheld and FREESPIN was disqualified from 2nd placing. The final placings following both Protests were 1st SKIPPY RASCAL, 2nd LUCIA BROMAC, 3rd GLENLOCHAR, 4th STYX IT TO EM.
No action was taken against driver S Phelan given that FREESPIN had hung in despite his efforts and that DOUBLEODEANO which was racing to his outside had also shifted in to take up the available ground. A warning was placed against the racing manners of FREESPIN.
It was subsequently established that STYX IT TO EM had galloped after the off-front hopple loop dropped due to the carrier coming adrift. Trainer S McCaffrey was issued with a minor infringement notice and fined $100 under Rule 864(2)(d).
